It would be if you managed that every week but fact is there's probably little over that in your home sections every week taking into account ST holders who don't always pitch up to all games. A lot of us have pals who are knobbers so we know the score, this is Wembley of the North to you lot the big family day out, teams bringing 7k to Ewood isn't unusual it's what they leave or don't leave with that counts they don't hand out points for one off away followings. I look forward to the day when your having a bad season, it's on tv and you bring about 1200 like Bolton, not long ago you had about 800 at Burnley for a Sat tea time kick off ?

Hahahahahaha..... Another one born in about 2005 ! You're right about the whoppers..there's two of you !

I think that says a lot and a point maybe worth considering is if you sign 3 decent league 1young players and throw them into a team that's crap and destined for the drop anyway they won't make an iota of difference until they are back in that league with that team. Edwards obviously has something about him.
-
Exactly, you only have to go back to Bowyer spreading a couple of million quid around not that long ago, prices haven't quadrupled for every player.

After he got with a manager who knew what to do with him, signed him for a specific role instead of shoe horning him in and coached him in that role/

I agree on the points about the issue of the non emergence of the Pune Academy etc is down to cash or more importantly the flow of it, a bit like the setting up of the Venky express stuff over here. It was all probably set to be done through the football club and it's Premier League brand and income, without that it became rather pointless and unaffordable. I reckon the club would've been funding the set up of the Pune stuff not Mr B just like the Premier league income & transfer wheeling and dealing over here in England would have funded the Express Franchise and underpinned by VH Group paper loans with maybe profits flowing back into the club, I think Singh alluded to something like that in one of his many grilling interviews. All this was Venkys part in being involved in the thing whilst dastardly/muttley and assorted crew ran the football side and generated money, a plan they'd lain long before. In theory it could have worked really well if we'd stayed up and kept the clubs infrastructure as it was. In practise it was a complete sting sold to them by liars thieves and chancers, they'd still no need to go along with it though when it quickly and obviously turned to expensive disaster - Why will always be the million dollar question.

Bell. Gladwin. Samuel etc all signed for a few hundred grand apiece and non with any real pedigree so it's no surprise they've flattered to deceive literally once or twice but the rest of the time (when fit) have been below average contributors. Dack 750k and a bit of potential, Armstrong 1.75, useful, young, potential, Reed quality loan with a bit of pedigree from Prem club. It's no coincidence that when you keep rooting round in the cheapo bin whilst you might find an unopened Mars bar now and again you're more likely to come away with turnips yet when you do some research and get in something that does cost a little more but not the earth it proves why it did cost a little more...because it is better. We need to be in Market B from above which is perfectly acceptable for a club like us IF there is some backing as if we are in Market A that type of stuff resembles the desperation of Bowyers later stage signings. Over to the manager & scouts - not favourite agents client lists please.

You don't know whether to be worried or intrigued as we never hear anything from that fella speaking about his own club or speaking to its fans then all of a sudden he's pitching this lad. There'll be a certain amount of publicity stunt attached to it but I genuinely hope it works out for the lad and as mentioned above could be a big thing if it did, well big exposure for the Venky brand at least...........

Tony said we'll manage, whilst wasting a window. I'm really not so sure there was any actual funds available I think they'd tied all the loose change from this seasons budget in the first instalments for BB and will now have to wait for next seasons budget to be agreed before any signings are made, that could be interesting. They also got part of a wage off the payroll in Jan with Downing when it wasn't really that advisable to do so from a football perspective. Also ST's and crowd predictions haven't hit this seasons projection, I think the money men have had a word again and plonked the brakes on before that window. We'll manage with what we have 'isn't' we are slow building for the future - it's getting by. We've been here before.

Mowbrays time this season should really resemble Mackays time not Saxtons he didn't even have shirt buttons but Don had a little bit of leeway at first. Thing is he was ambitious and it rubbed off on everyone. -
The reason you never see any Preston shirts anywhere even in Preston is all down to the fitting problems it's a shame for them really you can't put a shirt snuggly over your shoulders when there is a Blackburn Rovers sized chip sitting there since birth ?

A few million quid and a contract on someone or two who can run the defence for a good few years and act as a building block for the team and younger players is vital to what they are trying to do here he needs to convince them of that. I'd say come next Oct his job might depend on it.
-
Would he really have actually gone out and bought someone after losing a load of games ? I doubt it because he's stated his loyalty to these players time and again after giving them all improved deals so he'd be trotting out the same soundbites probably. He seems reluctant to put his head on the block and spend some money on someone ready made. Dack, Armstrong, Brereton all young and have potential to cover their outlay or double it. When it comes to signing older more ready made types he falls down badly, think Samuel, Gladwin etc. WTF are his scouts actually doing ? Or is he yet another only picking off certain lists !
-
That's what I thought although tend to agree it's probably the wrong time now but his bold confident tone has changed somewhat. There'll never be a good time if we keep losing.
-
They get full houses for pre season friendlies against Liverpool and Everton yet every time I've been there pre season going back to the Lancs cup time -pre Jack - to under Hughes etc there's been more of us than them ! Absolute plonkers they are their crowd delusion is worse than Burnley and i'm sure if they went up they'd get full houses in their tin pot tiny stadium yet come back down for a season or two they'd be on the same gates as us again.
-
He let a competent back up defender go on loan. He didn't see fit to replace that guy. He said he had others who could fill in and had a few kijds he'd happily put in if needed. He's now baulking and backtracking on his own words again and it's becoming annoying, he knows he's goofed if you ask me.
-
Because for our entire history up until Jack Walker we only had three thousand fans apparently, then we got 20k but most of them came from Preston - hence the term 'plastics' Yet the 10/12k that were actually mostly there before and after through not very good times are still called 'plastics' whereas these fans at Preston or Burnley are called 'loyal' and 'hardcore' and probably 'superfans, best in the country' - ? Preston logic, not easy to fathom. Wouldn't it just be grand to give these lot a proper doing for once, I still have memories of that cup game under Roy Hodgson.

That could be the business plan laid out last summer especially when you factor in the commitment on Brereton yet only Armstrong for 1.75 million for the first team over the last two windows. I'm very much of the suspicion that there is another team being grown to sell on soon and plug the running costs over the last two years again. I'm sure they'd all fancy promotion but won't invest what's required to give it a good go so will be happy with midtable finishes and just for a 'lucky' season or a Mowbray miracle on peanuts. Nothing wrong with running a sensible sustainable business model but if that is the sole aim now and we become the agents vehicle again we are in for some frustrating mediocrity I think. -
Is he making all the decisions though ? A point discussed recently and prompted by his comments about how much influence the seniors have. Are the constant changes him over ruling them or the other way around ? I still back him but in his time here it really looks like he wouldn't know a settled team and formation if one slapped him in the chops.
-
It's the way he manages and that's never going to change a quick ask of Boro/Cov and West Brom fans will say the same things as we say he's a complete rotator, tinkerer and square peg in round holes man that'll never change. Even when he has whats resembled his best 11 getting results he's rarely left it unchanged more than a game or to apart from the usual enforced ones he really is Tombola Tony but it was actually working early on but it's getting daft now, he has the excuses to do it though now for rest of season.
-
They got Duffy here for not much initial fee and they made money on him he was a bit ropey at first but ok by the end before he turned into an utter twohat therefore thee are players to be had out there if they make a proper effort to look. It really needn't always cost millions and they should really have stumped up a few hundred grand for the lad from Charlton and got him here this season. Very poor planning and I still the club will still only bring in players presented to them via certain channels, not good as isn't Mowbrays reliance on players he's had before.

Plays well only when the rest of the team are performing well around him I feel and yep for most of his time here he's been on a very cushy number with a guaranteed starting spot whilst he's just coasted through a lot of games. -
If we are truly back in grounghog territory then we are due our one in five or six games stunning performance against PNE. The last one was Hull, what better time to get back on track but no doubt he'll pick a side to try and stop them and spend the run up to the game talking up Nob End ?

Bennett, Smallwood, Evans, Williams ? How do we get rid if they've had payrises and contract extensions ? Nobody will pay money for any of them which I think says a lot and they won't want to leave here for less money. All have served the club well but it is time to change and they should be back up options now, I like Bennett but Mowbray moving him around the team is quite ridiculous now just to shoehorn his fav in.
