  1. 5/6k according to sources.
  2. He'll piss off the wrong sorts sooner or later and that is just the place to achieve it ?
  3. I agree that the say might have switched now to Waggot and co but imo they are working within the parameters of an overall budget rather than a few million pot set aside as such. He sounds like he's got his finger on the pulse as regards costings and actually income plus estimated extra income so I think he'll be keeping a tight reign on it to come in this season with all football costs plus investment on that overall budget. No bad thing it's the right way to do it at last and maybe a watered down version of Williams under the trust in it's later years. I don't think knocking on Venkys door saying we really want this Bauer can you find us an extra million to buy him would have any legs whatsoever. Knocking on that door and saying can we stretch the budget to accommodate a loan signing like Gallagher just might, that's the way the seem to like to do it.
  4. I really don't think there is any 'pot' of transfer money at all Venkys don't work like that it doesn't seem to fit into their accounting process chucking in extra lumps to buy players. What we have is an increased overall budget they've sanctioned made up of the extra 5 mill that comes instantly with promotion and the projected near enough same again from revenue increase Waggot was on about. Out of that comes the new contracts, bonuses, pay rises, ground/pitch maintanence etc etc so whatever extra might be left after that lot is likely what they'll have to invest, i.e not a lot. TM will have a few bids in and a ball park figure he can go to like say c500k for Bauer but if it doesn't come off that might go to loaning in Gallagher or someone he feels can contribute straight off. That's the balancing act and reality of it I think and like last year were Chapman & the West Brom kid came in there'll be a couple of punts like that with the parent club paying most of the wages in turn for a set number of appearances of varying degrees. That's fair enough it makes sense to try and get raw pace out wide even if it is raw, Chapman worked out last year but Harper didn't that's the 50/50 gamble when you can't buy what you really need. Key also is maybe getting Venkys to sanction a couple of decent loans of more experience as they have in the past on top of all that just mentioned. They seem to bite at that rather than be willing to put cash in to buy but as long as the squad is stronger hopefully better by the end of the window however they arrive is what's needed.
  5. They agree to pay for sponsorship to gain exposure so doubt the club are keen on offering every adult shirt without the logo on as surely that would affect terms of the deal and a bit less money. Understandable.
  6. Imaginative pricing might have seen 12k+ and the benefits all that brings but certainly a Dack like signing would boost the numbers to the desired target. Seems they thought they'd fly out on the back of promotion but i'm not sure why given recent history and a lot of the 'bounce factor' has petered away quickly as it was always going to do under this regime unless it was grasped and built upon. Going off the transfer activity it just looks like 'job done we're back in the Championship so as you were'.
  7. First impressions aren't good for many but like the other not so sparkling kits it'll grow on people and it won't matter too much if there is something performing in them.
  8. Agree when you put it like that not one of those names will be missed now not only some poor injury prone players but quite a few rotten eggs and poor attitudes as well. Only Lowe out of that lot fits the Mowbray mould but he was pants mostly anyway. Last time a glass house was being built on sand for foundations with a grade A clown in charge of construction, this time we have a proper foreman and some concrete poured in the holes at least so there's a fighting chance.
  9. Good news on Wharton it seems the lessons from Mahonney etc have been learned.
  10. Someone posted a mock up of the sponsors logo in blue on twitter and it looks 50% better as a whole.
  11. Perfectly acceptable shirt that compared to this abomination, sponsors logo fits well and nice shade of blue even if it is lighter. Let's have a nod to this era.
  12. Do we ever have a good season when they launch a powder blue kit ? Why when they say they are nodding to history is it always the same one they nod to ? What about the multitude of other great kits we've had how about nodding to the occasionally. Great that they have what sounds like a good few quid for a sponsor but let's face it it would take a hell of a kit to make that logo look good, another tacky betting firm logo at that.
  13. Loans with outrages fees now loans with penalty clauses ! Jesus what next, it's an agents world alright. Certainly explains some players being shoehorned into teams out of position week after week without actually performing. All this often prevents clubs own kids getting a look in when the bosses have got contractually bound to something else. Sad.
  14. Fair play to Manny I had him down as losing possibly by late stoppage due to being over the hill but he's obviously got something left. Just shows the difference though to what passes for top drawer these days and what really is top drawer from previous years when he can take out Matthysee like that at age 39. Not just the HW division that's full of guys who can't hold a candle the previous top dogs.
  15. No need for a poll democracy is dead anyway. Just scrap it !
  16. If they end up paying off the likes of Caddis, Gladwin etc it just goes to prove yet again taking these kind of gambles is totally pointless. Spend some pissing money and get decent players who can contribute and if not can be moved on. Unfit/injury prone/ageing chuck and chances - pack it in once and for all and stop doing agents a favour.
  17. It'll be eventually shut first before anything even gets to the planning stage is my guess.....
  18. Tyrant ? That's a bit strong but You'll never silence the Chadster ??
  19. This is what happens when rewards of new deals get handed about after promotion. Everyone wants one and everyone wants the best one. Goes with the turf and I hope they try to justify them next season not kick back resting on them thinking job done.
  20. £25 is not bad at all I think that should be the price of Championship football certainly anywhere outside London. Was expecting 32-35 quid down at Ipswich to be fair. Should see about a thousand down there maybe which is similar to the number when Kean oh so generously plonked is back in the Championship. Think the managers reception will be a little different this time though !
  21. 7k in the DE and about 7k in the home sections would be my estimate with probably a 60-40 split overall. East Lancs saddo plastics everywhere. Still is suppose the bean counters will be very happy with a gate of 14 thousand however it's made up it's a few extra quid at the end of the day, less whatever they have to pay the red whingers for turning up. Some will flock for tickets - because of the opposition, me ? I'm more looking forwards to the Millwall game, how many of our super fans who buy for this and turned up v Oxford will flock to that one ? Plenty I hope ?
  22. Actually I think the point a few are making is Gallagher as target man back to goal type thing after I said we need height up front, Crouch good header but poor jumper, Kane tends to come off his man then jump, lean backwards. Centre halves jump straight up to get as much forward purchase as possible as you say. As I've said also the days of target men looking to flick on are fast disappearing, from what I remember of Gallagher he was ok heading towards goal if a little weak but my point remains we need some good height upfront in the box to get on the end of scoring opportunities ahd to me he fits that BUT I think he's probably too expensive. I do think he's an improvement of Samuel & Nuttall though.
  23. Neither was Crouch and nor is Kane not that i'm actually comparing ability but it just seems the way with big lads these days the out and out target man type is disappearing even lower down the scale. Both those and I think Gallagher to be fair have scored their share of headed goals but yeah it's annoying when someone 6ft plus suddenly becomes a foot shorter than the centre half when the ball is aimed at their head.
  24. We need height up front desperately and he's proved he can score goals at this level plus well he's better than Samuel so it's an interesting one although I think he'll end up somewhere that's prepared to pay a big loan fee.
