Transfer Window - Success or Failure
tomphil replied to roversfan99's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Non out, one big one in plus the usual adding numbers to midfield which seems the Rovers championship way. The loan window will put a more interesting slant on our ambitions this season. 6/10 ... so far.. -
This is something I pointed out to Sharpe last night, there you had a journo telling everyone that Rovers COULD pay the asking prices. Then he dropped in that TM wouldn't pay more than he thought right. Daft blurting it about like that which made me question how serious it all was. We are owned by billionaires who COULD do a lot of things but never have.
-
This bid seems legit although it'll probably fall flat.
-
No but a new batch of emails advertising them went out pretty sharpish on the back of the so called 4 million bid ! ?
-
Isn't that like somebody just bidding 5 million to us for Samuel .....?
-
That goes completely against the way they do things these days and completely against the right way if you're trying to pinch someone for lesser money. That 4 mill has been chucked in from somewhere just to get the ball rolling, probably came from QPR's end similar has happened here when we've been 'alleged' reluctant sellers.
-
Was there any real intent elsewhere after Armstrong and maybe Bauer or has our bids and business been concluded days ago really and now they just chucked a little sugar on it to make it look more interesting ? The Freeman thing was either wide of the mark or someone just throwing Rovers name in the mix for some reason, not unusual any of that. Let the loan business commence, better bloody well hope there is some !!!!
-
Evans as makeweight for Freeman.... please make it happen !
-
That sounds like a plan.
-
I think TM was just doing Boro a favour with Freeman and getting a bit of publicity and excitement going for Rovers at the same time, casting a bid out and opening it up for Boro maybe.
-
Unleaded ?

Always looked good when the ball was on the deck, actually looked better under Kean briefly than big Sam and there's virtually no one else you could say that about. Mutley being Mutley though soon found excuse to freeze him out and flog him after Dasterdly smelled a transfer fee percentage, wouldn't be surprised if they own shares in him still he does move about for big money a lot !
-
As much as I like the pair of them i'm not sure how the Darragh/Charlie partnership will stand up this season so a quality big centre half to step in if/when needed and make the shirt his for the next few years wouldn't do any harm imo. Take your point though he could end up on the bench and the money is tied up pointlessly then so maybe a loan to cover that. Good striker with height deffo needed.
-
4 mill on one player ??? Nah red herring this but if we did have that cash a striker and a good centre defender is exactly where i'd be investing it asap.
-
Sadly when hamstrings start popping on lads so young it's usually a bad sign, the fee might be doable but would the insurance ?
-
Another tough one but this is the Championship and it's well known for regularly throwing up bonkers results especially early season so I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4 nil win either way ! Think the team will be stinging from last week a bit so I expect a response odd formations and selections not withstanding. Rovers 2 Millwall 1 Late winner from stretch. 12,629

Darwen End Closure / New Singing Section
tomphil replied to pk1875's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Wouldn't be surprised if the thought of the D enders being scattered about instead of in one group near the away fans quite appealed to the stadium manager and head of match day police hence the alleged lack of encouragement whipping up a singing section from the club. I'm sure TM and the players would be in support of it but they don't run the stadium ? -
If Oyston is looking for another mass cost cutting or to drive a final nail in before they go then Coyle is the man to rubber stamp a relegation. If they go down this time they'll not come back, Bowyer worked a miracle there.

Fair enough although unless i'm mistaken the BBE upper fell victim to cost cutting in similar fashion last summer probably upsetting more people and the rumours of the DE closure has been around a long time. I'm not in favour of it but it wasn't that unexpected and maybe he's like I said put his head on the block for that one which at least shows he has minerals whereas other directors have just hidden or failed to comment i'e Coyle fiasco. He might well be wrong on the STs and away fans but whether we like it or not anyone coming in in his position will have a Venky remit of increasing revenue and cutting costs but they are at least trying to keep things together on the pitch this time, for now. We've been crying out for an actual football director for years now and at last we have one but we won't like all his decisions although we have to remember who he actually works for ! Securing all the players in quick time before all that who's going to leave to pay the bills nonsense started again surely has to be partly down to him ? That's a new one and a big plus in my book. -
Mr G's, Never Neverland and the one next to it, that was just in two streets almost back to back. Just what the hell do people in their 20's do on weekends these days ???????
-
Even he wouldn't go near it ..... unless Oyston gave him and his pals a 48 million pot over 4 years and carte blanche to use it as they wished ?
-
Deluded barcodes lol if he'd played two games for them and not scored they'd be hollering he's crap why are we using him when Cashley has money to buy ready made quality !

You don't sound like you've been following it very closely Barry lad if you can't see a marked difference in certain things since he's been here. I think he's done alright and he seems prepared to stick his neck out and put his head on the block when in reality closing the DE wasn't his decision. The football side of things has improved two fold since he's arrived although again a lot of it will be down to TM & co. Like I said it remains to be seen whether he's the real deal or just another figure head or human shield for others behind the scenes whose head will get served at a later date if us natives begin to get angry of things again. What has he done to get your hackles up so much apart from the obvious ? -

Waggott in his short time here has already proved himself twice the guy slithering dithering gravy train Dereck ever did that guy should've been nowhere near the place. Whether he continues that remains to be seen but I hope he hasn't been handing out Shaw style contracts !!!! -
Only one man for that job and already dresses like FKW clown from Blackpool circus, will do it cheap, never heard of agents, lives 40 mins away and will dispence with fancy pasta dishes and pick up the doughnuts from the sea front on the way in instead and probably pay for them. Watching with interest........
