  1. New Order and Blackburn Youth go back a long way as far as i'm aware, the more retro flags etc the better.
  2. I'll certainly give him a chance and get behind him at least there's no doubt he had ability it's just that he seems about as popular in Sunderland as Best is to Rovers. We know why we detest 'Fam' and it's with very good reason so the similarities are a bit worrying. Other side of the coin I remember them hounding out Micky Gray who was a Makem through and through because he wasn't the brightest in conducting himself and was flashing his wealth about. He did alright down here once he'd settled in. Fingers crossed but him and Reed don't say stardust is being sprinkled to me they say cheap as possible squad options with a bit of profile to them !
  3. Such a shame it's a cruel world, Always think of Rovers 5 West Ham 4 when I think of Lennie, really looked like he was going to be the new young striker we'd longed for to help out Garner but ended up a Dingle legend instead. Wishing all the best with his fight.
  4. Whenever Brentford crop up the FA cup and league cup games from young days spring to mind, both those times we were a division or so above and should've had the beating of them but both times we lost. Then of course relegation day recently sealing the departed Coyles utter mess I won't be forgiven for thinking they are a bogey side. They've done fantastic to get established in the Championship being one of the smaller clubs but it's not a game I look forwards to. Another draw to add to the early collection in a swings and roundabouts game, us going in front then ending up behind. Rovers 2 Bees 2 11,898
  5. Ah ok I see, no doubt he's blown most of it so maybe he'll take a paltry wage here after all.
  6. I hope it is cheap he was/is on 70k pwk so to go down to 7 like say Whittingham for instance is a huge drop.
  7. I think it's a bit ironic people having a go at Sunderland and the Rodwell contract after what's happened here we know how easy it is for that to happen in football when you've a rich clueless absent ownership whose lost interest and has agents and leaches running the club. Leon Best alone cost Rovers about 10 million quid, Murphy & Ethuhu to name just two more on 33k pwk in the Championship at their ages and with their injury records, the same money the likes of Santa Cruz & Benni Mc were on in a top Prem side !!!! I feel for the Mackems I really do that place is rotten to the core and the fact we have done business in the past 12 months with crap like Brown & Steele and now this odd one doesn't fill me with good vibes.
  8. I'll be honest i'm not right comfortable with this one you can't deny it smacks of a return to recent needless risks with questionable pathways picking from certain lists giving a home to players no one else will touch. Hope not of course and at least it's short term as far as we've been told. Don't think his attitude will be a problem at first but his fitness will then so will his injury problems. At least they won't have to pay him off. If anyone can get a tune out of him you'd think it'll be Mowbray BUT Caddis, Whittingham and Gladwin don't inspire on that one. Fingers crossed.
  9. Be interesting to see how he's handled just before and after that, rested would be my guess based on previous 'management' of Evans.
  10. And if Brereton comes in and maybe one other then they take a punt on Rodwell not many will bat an eyelid. The obvious concern is he's the only one we might end up with which will then look poor considering, there should be a decent back up plan if the expensive kid falls through, not spending for the sake of it but a decent back up loan at least. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that but we'll just have to see it's looking like it'll all drag to the 11th hour now.
  11. You're right he wouldn't be the first although 8 mill one min on potential then punts on an injury prone enigma no one else seems to want next is where most of the head scratching stems from. Either the back up plan was flimsy or indeed they've clamped right down on wages they'll hand out from now on so have to look to who they think will grasp what's on offer.
  12. We were desperate when we signed Brown etc and managed by one of the biggest desperado's going and prompted by god knows who was grabbing their cut. We aren't desperate now we've a solid manager and squad that's light on numbers in terms of quality and pace so I don't see why there is a need for big risk taking. A bit of stardust sprinkled on it is what TM said so if we have a bit of brass and can pay a decent loan fee and wages I can't fathom why we are rooting in the bottom of other peoples bins for players no one else seems to want ? No doubt there is some kind of path but that's for another debate, I thought we'd moved on from two years ago. As pointed out Caddis, Whitts and Gladwin are all now pointless wage drains we don't need anymore there must be 25k pwk there, get them out get a bit of wage contribution and use it for someone with a decent pair of legs not an arm long medical bill !
  13. He's off the pace at the moment and probably needs withdrawing although someone made the point he's better suited to away games and us lying a bit deeper and counter attacking. I agree with this and have long felt it's an issue starting the same way at home with two deep lying defensive mids anyway, it's gone on way back through Bowyers time and to me it's often the root cause of so many poor first half displays from then to now even last season when we could've steamrolled a few sides but sat off and let them run games in the first half. We've blamed Lowe/Evans now Richie quite rightly at times but that doesn't get away from the fact they are defensive mids who sit there waiting for teams to come at us to break play up. When you have two in every time you end up conceding space in the centre of the park that on your home patch you should be dominating. Why we have to approach nearly every game like that now there are a couple of other options is open to debate.
  14. Exactly what I was thinking when I posted that ?
  15. Are we now picking from lists again after being frustrated for whatever reasons with a few ambitious targets ? ? Where's Jal ......
  16. 1.5 points per game which is steady enough.
  17. Odd game, credit to Reading who had a game plan but it was a typical Mowbray Rovers game really, pish first half then on it second half when our backs are against the wall. Could have been different if we'd scored in the first flurry but it was probably always going to be one of those nights. Championship is mad like that though a lot of sides would've lost that 0-3/4, bravo for the team spirit I just wish he'd give them a bollocking and apply the 2nd half tactics from the beginning and cut out the first half poncing about in games !
  18. Yep it'll start eating into the hardcore of the smaller fanbases before long but the suits don't give a toss as long as the viewing figures and advert revenue stand up well.
  19. Football for the armchair masses whilst the hardcore addicted try and keep some soul in the sterile grounds on view.
  20. Even if he and his player would be over the moon at ten grand per week they'll ask for twenty when a club is keen to prise the player away from where he is, it could also help if you don't really want to leave but need persuading. 'Show me the money' !!
  21. He's probably right as if they went from 5 mill to 8 I think Forest would've ripped Rovers hands off and also I don't think TM is that daft. Probably if it goes through it might be a deal up to 8 mill or a deal worth 8 with fee, contract etc etc.
  22. Seems they might be willing to push the boat out for those types but I wonder if he went and said I want to sign this proven 28 year old centre back for 3 million, he'll probably not increase in value but he'll serve the club well for 3 or 4 years and be a cornerstone to build a team on. Would that get sanctioned ?
  23. If he doesn't want to leave Forest and they aren't in a desperate hurry to sell then the only thing that might swing it is money. He's obviously not that bothered about having more chance to play at this moment if he'd rather stay there, huge wages might tempt him though. These types of deals rarely end well we should know that.
  24. The same thing happens at most clubs re transfers i'd imagine although it has been more so here over the last 8 years, not difficult to guess why when there's been so many different fingers in the pie and nobody in charge to try and keep a lid on it all. Think we are being primed now for the inevitable let down although personally I won't feel let down if they don't splash 8 million on this kid. I will feel let down if there isn't one or two good loans sourced out though.......
  25. Just the kind of game we'll slip up in I can see them coming and shutting up shop even though it's early season plus the championship throws up those curved balls. Hopefully we go for the jugular and continue what's shaping up to be a decent start. Rovers 0 Reading 1 12,052
