  1. Got to give Evans credit he's upped his game tail end of last season and early this but it's been too long coming that's why he's quite rightly had stick but it's only fairr he gets some praise now the real Corry Evans has finally stood up. Not sure how long it'll last it's amazing how these types get a second wind when their cushy contracts are quickly running down but if the team benefits for a while we can't complain. I'd also like to think he's now under a gaffer who won't let him coast week in week out and wants to get the best out of him plus has recruited a few who'll step in and try and make his shirt their own if they can.
  2. I heard some strong rumours the Fury comeback was mainly money motivated he's had 2 and half years inactivity and behind the scenes fought a very expensive legal battle to stop the Klitschko victory being struck from his record etc because of the nandrolone - sorry wild boar. He's fighting nothing more than exhibition fights to shake off the rust and earn a few quid whilst remaining out of harms way ready to jump in for a big money shot. The very thing that he and his mate Saunders loudly and regularly panned Haye for. It soon became obvious why Haye had to take that route once he got in with Bellew but at least he sold out the O2 and went out and spanked the bums instead of pissing around although Fury doesn't posses that finishing ability anyway. I'll believe the Wilder fight when I see them in the ring but the Fury comeback will come apart at the seams at some point when he gets in deep water mid/late fight v someone decent. Seen it all before I can't believe so many are falling for it.
  3. Everyday and twice on Sunday !
  4. Was it Luke Murphy the kid with potential and the next big thing big clubs were sniffing around that Bowyer went out of his way to get to Rovers for about 1.5 mill before Leeds gazumped him. Think similar things were expected of him, plonk him in a club like Rovers or Leeds for a season or two then move him for a big fee to one of these big clubs who've been tracking him but didn't want to chance it there and then ? Didn't really work out once he'd gone to Leeds on a better contract with an ego to match and his head went.
  5. I take your points and agree with some but don't buy into the old this lad is the only lad available who can be the new DG and it will cost 8 million to speculate he will. Not for a min if you've got 8 million to spend on one player there'll be plenty options out there although admittedly the old school target man is becoming rare. As with Rhodes though for huge money he guaranteed goals every season so the fee if not his wages worked out a bargain over 4 years even though we overpaid, plus they at least got that outlay back. This lad ticks boxes but guarantees nothing as it stands that's why it's obviously a huge gamble when we might be crying out for an instant impact upfront and desperately needed quality/pace in other areas. Having said that debating on spending 8 mill is a nice problem to have for a change ?
  6. Murphy, Ethuhu . Grella, Dahlin and many more slipped through that net.
  7. Some advisor or other has probably been in the ear of the owners on this one saying this lad will be worth double in a very short space of time maybe off the back of one good season that's why it's a goer. I'm sure TM is over the moon if this lad ticks his boxes but he might also end up perplexed when he asks for a few million in Jan to sign a good defender we'll probably end up needing and be knocked back. I'd like to think he's maybe had the go ahead to add a big signing every window over the next 3 or 4 whilst retaining what he has in the hope of building a good team and also buffering it with one or two back ups and loans ? That would resemble a proper ambitious plan though and would cost 20 million or so, not such a big risk if you get the right quality whose value increases though so if you don't go up you can get the doh back !! Hmmm..
  8. When Evans is fit he plays he's another who's place is guaranteed under whoever is manager here, sometimes it would be nice to have a different kind of player to come in. Maybe Rothwell is that lad so if he comes in and plays well and we win he should stay in there and partner one of the others.
  9. I'm not one for trying to spread a million or two around the team for the sake of bodies and end up with a load of average squad men on 10k pwk I think we've seen enough of that here even going back to the Trusts last days. However 8 million in the hands of a good manager with a real ambition to get promoted could get 3 or 4 good players in or even two quality ones. That argument got banded about enough by the Rhodes knockers so it should still stand.
  10. Ha ha i'd like to say I saw right through him and stopped following but no he blocked me when Kean was still boss. Do I want in ? Not on your nelly he'd pretty soon block me again besides chaddy is the middleman for the legions of us Rovers FUDS.
  11. Nicko probably answers a few DMs to his favourite sheep ?
  12. Don't have a problem with him going back to the same side/formation of the first two league games if all available. We haven't lost yet i'd just like to see the tactics alter a little to be a bit more on the front foot in the first 15/20 mins.
  13. Nobody pushes the boat out and takes a punt on Dyche a proven very good manager for a certain type of club yet Coyle keeps getting jobs like a high class hooker. Football world is mad. Good old Owen has probably earned as much as the ginger Phil Mitchell with all his pay offs.
  14. 49%-51% still covers Nicko's arse in the old might happen might not stakes. His recent comments on the transfer window re Rovers and TM's opposite view put that to bed once and for all, he knows very little he just cracks on he does.
  15. Hopefully one of the main men conjures something up to get our noses in front otherwise it could be a difficult afternoon as you always fear we'll ship the usual poor goal. Still think a draw is on the cards though.
  16. Living off his ill gotten gains and keeping the hell away from Blackburn probably. Still be sending Kean and Conning & co a Christmas card though........
  17. I've heard of this lot past & present & associates ... Sports Entertainment MEDIA I wonder if Owens remembered whether he has or not yet ? Would certainly help him get numerous airtime slots whenever he's looking for a job or about to get sacked, by mutual agreement of course....
  18. D) He's local - no relocation or hotel / transport costs which adds to the cheapness.
  19. Hopefully it was appearance related.
  20. Gladwin will have cost a million or more including fee and wages by now, bollock dropped there.
  21. Always got to remain positive ! As Steve Kean told us sometimes you have to take one step back to take two forwards again .......
  22. This time Saturday it'll probably be as you were.
  23. It really is daft throwing it in every two mins because people can just turn around and say Gladwin, Whittingham, Samuel etc .... Didn't cost huge money but any money at the time was a big outlay for the club and non of them will be on peanuts. Point is even the best get it wrong now and again even when they are trusting their own life long judgement, Grabbi/Kalinic being good examples. Fans have the right to question but you might as well close the forum down if you follow that fellas answers to everything. Someone who only ever seems to turn up when there's a few quid to spend.... The line 'It's not your money anyway' .... well I won't even start on that !!!!
  24. And he isn't a pal of the wee Red Top funster writer....
  25. He looked like a 55 year old having a serious midlife when he dyed his hair bleach blonde in the 90's. Thank god he's going for the silver fox look naturally these days ?
