  1. Brereton looked lively a few times when the ball dropped to him inside the box but like a fish out of water out wide and yes I know he's only 19 but he's very lightweight I thought we were buying a lad with physical attributes ? We know TMs obsession playing strikers wide just to get them some mins, Armstrong copes but it did Samuel no favours at all so I hope we don't see a similar pattern here. Yesterday yet again was crying out for height and physique in the box attacking balls........
  2. Thought the ref was over fussy all afternoon he pulled up everyone for running into each other but let some good meaty challenges go. We got our share of fouls and free kicks, not seen them back but the linesman on the JW side needed flogging with a large bunch of nettles however.
  3. Draws are subjective and we don't want to just going for one or throwing another hard fought 3 points in the bin but yet again you'd take one here. Probably the hardest game so far but Rovers being Rovers it's just the type we'll go and win. Be positive, get amongst them and have a go they might just have an off night good teams do and this is the Championship where anyone can beat anyone and that has to be the mindset. If I had my last quid on it though i'd go.. Derby 3 Rovers 1
  4. It was poor again first half yesterday and I don't think the first ten mins helped when they were largely all over us but as always at Ewood the team has to raise the fans when it should be the other way in games like this. We don't seem to have a home 'end' anymore the BBE was the heartbeat now it's just a stand like the other three. Yet again yesterday bizarre stuff with the DE why the hell don't they just sell out the upper first and keep most of them out the way when they know in advance there's a lot coming. Also try and do something to get a few more in the JW lower outer sections facing the camera's there looks less in most of that than there used to be in the DE home section. Clueless clueless suits !
  5. Apart from the first 8 mins where we sat back and invited them on with yet another slow start that could have proved very costly I thought Rovers were very good and playing some real good stuff in patches. Evans aside use of subs comes into question again possibly upsetting the balance when we were doing fine although I don't think the intention was completely to shut up shop at 1-0 to be fair. It was a fantastic free kick that equalised and Reed was at fault giving away a totally needless free kick after he'd been pulled up several times for the same thing after he came on by an over fussy ref who'd clearly given a fee kick both ways every time players breathed on each other. Apart from that he looked very lively which was a plus. Always seems with Rovers that if we don't gift a pointless goal away then the oppo will conjure up a beauty from somewhere ! Despite having similar to when we went down so far this season we've looked more than comfortable in this league yet similar to GBs time we can't grind out games regularly enough to make it really count. We lack height now which is a waste of the great set pieces put in but you've got one centre half taking them aiming for the other all the time because no one else is over 6ft to get near them. Lenihen again looks really ropey in a three at the back and that for me is an accident waiting to happen. Nevertheless another hard fought point in the bag, someone will cop a pasting again soon but I don't expect it to be Derby or Stoke !
  6. Don't do it as it might be bad for you - but we need the money so we'll take it anyway ! The irony and hypocrisy of the football industry is all part of the theatre of it all I guess ?
  7. I hope Mowbray and the bosses at the club have read him the riot act instead of tiptoeing around him as pointed out In real life you're held accountable for your actions and have zero choice but to accept the punishment. Hit them hard in the pocket it's probably the only thing some of these lot understand, give it to charity.
  8. That's the one ?
  9. Which is why they should stay well away from players like these but we seem to have to add one to the books on a good contract every summer for some reason whilst other similar placed clubs to ourselves avoid them. Stokes, Gladwin now Rodwell and there's been others but we are still waiting for one of these gambles to pay off ......
  10. Depends how recent this latest injury actually is, if he was anywhere near fit they should've been looking to shift him one way or another. Maybe they did an he has decided to sit on who knows, he's every right to I suppose.
  11. It's odd they never paid him off when they were letting others go and I fear that might be down to his heavy contract. If he came for very little on modest wages it was just another gamble that didn't work but if he cost and earns some of the figures banded about it was a bollock dropped. A signing made in good faith or favour but was never destined to work out and I wouldn't be surprised if he just sits out his contract I doubt there'll be a queue waiting to sign him.
  12. Hopefully it's the last we'll hear about Dacks community service as that'll mean he's doing it and that's all anyone needs to know now. If we hear about it again it'll probably be him being sent down but i'm sure this time the club will be keeping very close tabs on him as he's obviously a bit of a plonker who needs help putting one foot in front of the other away from the pitch. Time to make a statement this weekend Bradley !
  13. Some risky comments Grealish is good on his day he just doesn't have enough off them but if he was ever going to have one it could well be against Rovers !
  14. When they get ST's printed they'll be ordering job lots in the thousands at a discounted price so ordering just single ones to be printed will cost them extra, most businesses would probably pass on that cost to the customer. Annoying but not unusual sadly.
  15. Most of it is probably said in jest with Samuel he seems to not take things too seriously that's probably why it's hard to get decent shifts out of him on the pitch, coupled with keep playing him out of bloody position of course. If he isn't jesting he needs more than knee surgery ?
  16. True and i'd say it's more likely any team who might bring over a thousand going off last time in the Championship. This game would likely have been switched to dinner time anyway even if it hadn't been selected for tv. They seem determined to squeeze home fans out of attending these games where the revenue of big away followings are guaranteed instead of trying to coax more to them.
  17. They've wanted to increase the prices since Shaw was here as far as the rumours go so it was bound to happen once they got a feasible opportunity to gloss it over. Sadly the club needs every penny at ground level whilst it still wastes hundreds of thousands at upper level something I've never got my head round but that's the way they like to do things. It's not a fan friendly way of doing things but probably a sound business way of guaranteeing a bit more income as you can't predict how the season will go and how casual fans will react, certainly not when your a clueless suit In an office anyway. Cardboard Mikes job is to cut expense in his dept whilst Waggots job is to increase revenue so put the two together and this is what you get, days of cheap STs etc are long gone they'll always keep nudging upwards now. I do think they could have come up with something a bit more imaginative for a game like this though to ensure Villa fans don't make up a third of the actual crowd in attendance. Quid a kid or a buy two get one for a future less attractive fixture for half price in one area of the ground type thing ? The idea surely is to find that balance between increasing revenue AND increasing crowds !
  18. No need for gung ho that would be crazy but pressing and closing down a bit further up the pitch to try and take away their game plan rather than sitting off at home might be the best way to deal with these types.
  19. Bloody hell talk about timing no wonder it's all up in the air, I think Gartside passed away around the time they were last being threatened with admin or something. Wrote off 171 million in loans and left 15 million in, hell of a contribution but odd he left it in such an odd situation after all that commitment. RIP fella.
  20. Eddie Davis passed away ? When ? It must've been recent seeing as they were mentioning him still having a stake in it yesterday.
  21. The clue is in the word accurate, it becomes a long pass then. We won the Prem often making the most of that tactic as well as good crosses often from deep not the byline. We had the players for it back then though but at the present the Danny Graham of 3 years ago is gone so it's a bit pointless at the moment and is more an outlet to get rid quick under pressure in defence than anything. We could benefit from more crosses though if we didn't lack height.
  22. But long balls often are ........ ?
  23. Brum are another who've been sailing close to the wind probably longer than we've had Venkys it's amazing they've never gone bang. Both are probably run by self serving clueless suits OR very crafty operators !
  24. If ever a club was run almost solely on hand to mouth debt it's that one, the very thing FFP is supposed to prevent and it isn't mysterious foreign money or possible debt hidden in far away lands all this is down to good old English owners ! Davies sold them down the river once their parachutes dried up, at least our lot had 30 mill worth of players to sell.
  25. He has the pace and physical attributes so he's on the right lines but there's a hell of a long way to go yet before he looks like a prem right back. Remember Mceverlys storming performance v Man U's stars or even Adam Henley putting Sterling in his pocket basically just because he could match him for pace off the mark on that particular night. It can be very deceiving so he needs to grow slowly but the good thing about him is there seems to be a good down to earth attitude there which will serve him well.
