  1. What you all gotta realise is 1. that Senegal was a French colony and Senegalese speak French. Nuff said. 2. Bennett is a complete nob and should suffer discipline.......... but we all knew that before tonights match didn't we? 3. Something that I've felt all season and was totally, completely and unequivocably proven tonight........... If Paul Dickov gets a long term injury we are relegated! Period. Bothroyd has bags of skill but hasn't got a ferkin clue how to use it other than emulating weebles wobbling, Jansen is history, and as for Gally and Stead..... forget it. They will never cut it in the Prem as loing as they have holes in their you know whats. The pair of em have no pace whatsoever, no trickery, no first touch, no physical presence, no control, no aereal threat, no great shot, no vision, no goals .................. in fact Nothing! Lower div players to be potted and replaced asap.
  2. I adhere to the theory that to rely on assumptions nearly always turns out to make an ASS out of U and ME.
  3. Dunno bout Brian but I didn't know that. Anyway rather than courage I think that 'determination' would be a far more appropriate description of his character. 'Courage' would be a more applicable adjective to describe Douglas Bader who lost his legs in a warplane and went straight up again to face the Luftwaffe as soon as his false ones were ready. Anyway was it Murray / McLeish or Viola who came up with that ridiculous bid? Thats what pisses us off! It's not the fact that you do or dont want him its the fact that you want to pull our necks out with a combination of blackmail and a stupid bid.
  4. That'd do nicely. Soft arse can be home a bit quicker from a base about 50 miles north of Newcastle and we get a better player and quality striker (although he's trouble with a capital T) that we need...... and Murray and Rangers get f*c%ed right off.
  5. Thanks for the support mhead and I hope you are successful with your campaign but imo far from encouraging under 8's we should ban em! I shudder to think how many kids have been put off football through over-eager parents forcing them to attend in the cold and wet. Kids under 8 cannot comprehend competetive team sports as they do not play them till that age at the earliest and all they seem to have in their minds is a desire to be at home in the warmth with the lego out or watching some Disney / Simpsons video. And who can blame em? (BTW there is a daft school of thought put out by a few pinkoes that competative sports played by kids are harmful anyway! ) Free tickets would be far better appreciated by the 8-12 age groups imo.
  6. Just musing further but so many people come on here singing the praises of John Williams and his leadership. BUT Is it any wonder, given the huge embarrassments and complete finacial right-offs of the Kevin Davies / Andy Cole and Grabbi fiasco's that the likes Murray and Viola see BRFC as a 'milch cow' to be ripped off at will by every Tom, Dick or Harry in football? I'm beginning to think more and more that Ferguson never had any intention of seeing his contract out when he signed! Am I alone in these suspicions? On this occasion and imo we really need to play hardball with Ferguson to send out a strong message to conniving agents and the like everywhere. Cant see it happening but Strachans suggestion that the Prem chairman club up to help Forest pay Van Hooydoinks wages whilst letting him rot in isolation has undoubted appeal and is beginning to become increasingly relevent.
  7. An excellent read.
  8. This'll be contentious but imo it'd be an idea to find a place for Flitcroft cos he is always hugely motivated for games against the Wanderers. He was also a strong candidate for MoM at the Reebok. If fit Bothroyd must play as Gally and Stead are simply far too lightweight to play against Boltons back 4. (lightweight being OK if accompanied by trickery or pace but neither of em has any of that either). Bothroyd and Jansen for me up front.
  9. I think it's taken as read that that will not happen cos the 'Glasgow Giants' are borassic.
  10. Resist? - doesn't even come into it. Your comments usually don't even register. On the odd occassion I notice one,
  11. Dan ....... I thought it was just me.
  12. Substitute the word 'striker' for 'player' in line 4 and that assessment is bob on DM.
  13. Are you certain about that Jim? Jeez you do come out with some rubbish at times. I could argue that Shearer by his actions has displayed fierce loyalty to his home town team. Far more than our Dunny but thats another topic. As for SammyG's loyalty to BRFC ........ I wonder if a World Record £15 million move to join KK's Newcastle revolution or Sutty's 10 mill move to the bright lights of Chelsea might just have tested that loyalty better than Halifax Towns not inconsiderable offer of a couple of thousand quid and a bag of chips and fish every week at Harry Ramsdens?
  14. Well I've gone for one of em Dave. Shearer was better than Fred Pick and the pair were too similar to play together imo so thats why I fely McEvoy would make a better pairing. Its all daft really though innit?
  15. You must have missed the Bournemouth game! At least the wind could be blamed for some of the errors last night.
  16. The decision to follow your head or your heart is never easy in such issues but the answer is usually............Your head.
  17. Good points Tony. The irony being that I bet Graeme bloody Sharp has never paid to get in a match in his life!
  18. Whilst i am very happy with the ticket prices, can i make 1 small comment. I would like to have seen a young persons ticket available to non season ticket holders. That is a general comment, as well as for this match, as i feel that all round we should introduce young persons tickets at Ewood. And Nog, change the bloody attendance record please, its getting very boring!! Kinell! And a prolonged debate on young persons tickets is 'interesting'? You need to get out more. When it takes an eighteen year old 7 hours to earn the price of a ticket to watch Blackburn Rovers v Cardiff I'd say it is a very valid and interesting point. Or don't you want to see future generations down at Ewood thenodrug, probably not as you could tick "income" off your list of things to worry about. Or hadn't you considered young people can't afford to buy their own tickets at full price? Careful your slips showing again Pual. You cannot resist having a pop now and again can you? Fact is that you would be better off writing to the players asking them to take a 50% pay cut, then we could all enjoy cheaper tickets OR alternatively we can pay less and end up watching cheaper football in the lower divisions. Sorry for not being able to make 2+2=5 to suit your sensibilities but no one else can either.
  19. ooops sorry Scotty I guess you just conceded that point to Tris whilst I was writing.
  20. Forget being irate at me for a minute and you will surely realise that ideally there are two situations which we need to try our best to achieve out of this issue. 1. Hughes wants him to stay at least till summer. 2. We need to realise as much value for him as possible when he eventually leaves. It will serve no purpose to back Ferguson into a corner from where he cannot find a way out should the need arise. Rem he has not fallen out with the club at all yet so there is still a way back should no move arise by Jan 30th. Even if we agree to let him go back in summer we need him to still be a valid and useful member of the first team squad until then. There is simply no justification and there is no place for girly strops and stamping of feet in business.
  21. There are so many possibilities to all this. Could that situation precipitate legal action by us to sue Ferguson for damages / breach of contract? This sort of action has not happened in football before but I believe it should. Things are far too one sided in favour of the players. It might be ironic that I am saying this so soon after the Savage situation but we did not offer less than generously for Savage whereas trying to get Ferguson for buttons by engineering the situation as has happened could be tantamount to extortion / fraud. Who is to say that this situation was not a Murray / Viola set-up job from the start? July 03. "Listen Bazza, We've been thinking. We'd like you go to some Premiership suckers for big bucks, then play for a reasonable time, that will serve to get the Bank manager off our back for a time, then kick up and insist that you will only come back here and they will have to let us buy you back for buttons....... Oh and btw you can have 25% of any profit"
  22. "It might be kind (and sensible) to take the armand off him and give it to Savage" I think part of his transfer request was down to the knowledge that that would happen anyway. "Like philipl, I think the delaying tactics are significant. Williams has (again) come out with a class line about the response from fellow board members ... it might be Friday ----- but actually it's far more likely to be Monday. Paraphrased (and with the rest of that statement labelling the current (and only) Rangers offer as preposterous) that seems to be telling Rangers to go swivel. And at the same time tells Ferguson and Viola to go figure." It certainly tells em that we wont be pushed about and that they are not as important as they think.
  23. Not sure about that Philip. I can only go on how I feel but I don't want Ferguson to play for us again until he withdraws his request and apologises. Hughes can say what he wants - can't see it changing my opinion of our captain. Letting emotions influence business dealings will most certainly not help any situation.............. and we cannot afford em to! Rem we do hold the stronger hand and Rangers are potless. No matter what rhetoric they use, money talks and with no money they are weak.
  24. Shearer and McEvoy for me. But I guess lack of age and folklore will result in huge but uninformed support for Simon ......... although he was a very useful 2nd / 3rd Div striker and a fairly loyal servant he would not have 'cut it' in the old first div.
