You have missed my point. With our financial position, I don't think we can afford to bring in players for positions where we already have players of potential.

We already have a youngster in Phillips, who has already shown to be competent and confident at U23 level. I would be more tempted to bring him on rather than risk signing someone-elses youngster.

So why sign Souttar ? Please don't mention that he is a Scottish international, At present that is not a good yard-stick.

I would try to sign Van Hecke, Carter is an adequate cover player. Phillips is ready to be developed, that is probably why he trains with the first team.

But the original post was on the premice that Souttar would be signed if Lenihan left. Therefore Pratt or Souttar would be fifth choice. In my opinion we need a starting right wing-back whether Nyambe leaves or stays.

Pratt would be fifth choice and at no cost. Souttar would be fifth choice and cost a fee. I would prefer it if we tried to sign a right wing-back.

You asked if we had the players to play three at the back. We did, the fact of injuries would of not come into the planning stage of forming the squad. It was the way the players were asked to play that caused the most problems last season.
