  1. In truth Andy I haven't seen too much quality from Brittain at all. Defensively he has been found wanting and as you rightly point out his self inflicted injury was entirely down to him not fancying a 50/50 ball. Is he an upgrade on Nyambe? The jury is still out for me.
  2. We are 22 games in Gav and to many it's apparent that some of our players simply aren't capable of carrying out his way of playing. There hasn't been any indication that they can neither. So how long does he persist with it? It's already cost us several goals and given up numerous chances to the opposition. There is some suggestion that he will bring players in that can play this way and that will be at the expense of those who just aren't good enough. What is frustrating is that he keeps trying it and it's patently not working. It's hurting us and will continue to do so I believe.
  3. Pass and move can work but it has to be done with pace and two touches. We have far too many players who are slow in the footballing mind and execution of play. It's incredible that Tomasson hasn't worked this out yet.
  4. Pukki will have us on toast if we try and play the slow, ponderous boreball from the back. This is a huge test of Tomasson's credentials in my view and he simply has to show us another string or two to his bow.
  5. Spot on Andy. In old money he 'gibbed' out of what was a fifty/fifty ball and got hurt. When I first started playing men's football at 14 in the Darwen League the best advice I was given was never to pull out of a challenge or you'll get hurt.
  6. I agree entirely. If Tomasson was going to change anything he would have done it by now after the catastrophes of previous games. He must see it like we do and the many, many Rovers fans who are unhappy with it can't be wrong. My belief is that he is too stubborn and arrogant to change, it's almost like an admission of failure. Norwich have the best presser in the Championship in Pukki. He will have a field day next week if we persist in suicide football.
  7. We are third which some are using to defend Tomasson with. That is indisputable but the reality for most of us is that we are as far away from promotion into the Premier League as we have been in twelve years.
  8. It's simple really and not rocket science, just play to your strengths. Tomasson plays to our weakness.
  9. I wasn't going to post this because of the million questions that follow criticising credibility of source and other things but I was told by somebody close to the players that many players aren't happy with Tomasson. The exact words were 'he is only two senior players away from losing the dressing room'. I was also told that Broughton struts around Brockhall like he owns it.
  10. Not his dedication that I am questioning. His big failing for me is the lack of variation in play and tactics. We are predictable, so much so we are easy to play against. He is asking players to do something they aren't capable of and yet he persists with it. I honestly don't know what he sees when the vast majority of fans can see how we can't play his way.
  11. We stuck with Mowbray for five years.
  12. In truth we have seen very little of his football intelligence. We have gone behind in nine league games this season and lost them all. Surely that is not the record of an intelligent football man. He has played and managed in several different countries so I don't buy the away from the family argument. He knew that when he took the job and is being handsomely rewarded for it.
  13. I don't think that any of Tomassons starting team could be sold for decent money because they simply aren't good enough John. The talented youngsters are the ones who will hopefully command big fees but Tomasson isn't really giving any of them a chance. I honestly don't understand the psyche of Tomasson in any respect of team selection and tactics or indeed the end goal of what he wants to achieve.
  14. Every league match we have gone behind we have lost. When Nobbers scored their opening goal today the conversation around where I sit was it was game over.
  15. Thanks for your input but you are wrong in your assertion that a lot of fans want him out. My frustration is that he is one dimensional and there is very little variation in play or tactics. He is asking sub standard players to do something they aren't really capable of and 22 games in it doesn't appear he knows this. In my view he comes across as arrogant and stubborn. With some difficult games coming up he will feel the wrath of the crowd if he carries on trying to play the way he is. By the way your English is fine.😁😁
  16. Preston had a free kick just in their own half close to half time, sent their centre halves up, won two headers in our penalty area from the kick and got a corner from thsee pinning us inside our box. I'm sure in my own mind if that had been us the ball would have gone back of sideways and ended up with Kaminski allowing Preston to squeeze play. Territorial advantage is a big thing in football. It can lead to goals and force errors. We are far too easy to play against and so predictable it's worrying. This hasn't just been in the last two games but in every defeat and even in some wins. This one dimensional stuff is a real poor indictment on Tomasson and his coaches.
  17. Garrett wasn't good at Burnley but having seen him in many under 21 matches and his first team games so far I will confidently say he is better at every aspect of midfield play than Travis.
  18. 65% possession for Rovers according to the BBC. We lost 4-1, we second best all over the pitch and should have lost by more. Most of our players were shockingly poor and cowardly in possession. What a nonsense stats like that are and weak managers hide behind them.
  19. This is a project and he needs four transfer windows is what he has said several times. I seriously doubt his coaching credentials after the last two games where we have been out played, out thought and out battled by local rivals conceding seven goals in the process. I guess the only positive is that we should have conceded ten. β€œThe definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
  20. He needs too many touches and slows the play right down. Our best performance of the season was at Blackpool when he played at full back and the midfield contained Wharton and Morton. They created, played with pace and intensity and kept the ball moving with two touches. I don't think we have seen them two together in a full game since. Jake Garrett is already better than Travis.
  21. Probably the biggest indictment on any professional footballer is being out fought physically by your opponent both individually and collectively. Today was embarrassing as only one player comes out with any semblance of credit (and our erstwhile manager was just about to take him off before he scored) as Preston (that's fucking Preston by the way) battered us as we waved the white flag. On the back of a abject derby performance at Burnley we were boldly told that how good the break has done the players and Tomasson talked about working with them to make us better and impart more of his ideas on them. That worked well. We still had the walking football, trying to play out when everyone(apart from Tomasson) can see we patently aren't good enough too. Travis was Loweesque in his performance today, in fact that is disrespectful to Lowe. He was shockingly had and the vast majority of his team mates weren't much better. The tone was set for me when Brittain bottled out of a tackle and hurt himself. The self inflicted errors were plentiful as Preston totally dominated. Right now Tomasson and his bullshit can fuck right off and his pampered, namby pamby players can join him. I honestly want to see the likes of Wharton, Garrett and Phillips picked for Norwich instead of some of these weak willed over hyped excuses for footballers we have.
  22. Hopefully the road to redemption starts today with a win and if that is supplemented by a good performance then great. I do fear though that Ched Evans will do a Barnes and bully our centre halves. I want to see us snapping into tackles all over the pitch, moving the ball quickly with purpose and ninety minutes of intensity. As results have proved so far this season scoring first is vital. If it's not us getting that then I think Tomasson might be in for rude awakening.
  23. Another manager being too smart for his own good. The Argentines were rattled and couldn't handle the big Dutchmen and long balls so what does the manager do? He goes back to the Dutch Disease football of inane, pointless passing and hands the initiative back to Argentina. You reap what you sow sometimes.
  24. I was talking to a friend this week who goes to the home games with four or five of his friends. They are all JW Upper season ticket holders and I see them on the concourse before every home game and they will normally have three or four pints each pre match and at half time. They have decided to stop this due to the price, poor service and paper cups in which their drink is served. Instead they will meet in the Old Chapel in Darwen for a few drinks and get a taxi to Ewood and back. They don't want to do this but they feel their hand is being forced by Rovers and Sodexho just not getting the basics right. I'm sure there are many others who feel the same way and simply stopped spending money at Ewood on match days. I have seen the topic of food and drink talked about many times at the Fans Forum but from what I hear things are getting worse not better.
