  1. From next week Roverstore isn't opening on Mondays and then reduced hours for the rest of the week. Some personnel have had their hours reduced as a result. Quite simply the footfall in the shop has reduced and Waggott will justify it with that but people aren't going in as much because of the new ticketing method. And just like the banks closing it's a by product of technology. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/september/23/changes-to-opening-hours/ And Waggott still takes his £330m every year.
  2. For the last few visits to Coventry there has usually been some drama. A few seasons ago we played an awful first half, put Dack on at half time and quickly went 2-1 up. In something like the sixth minute of stoppage time we conceded a sloppy goal to draw. Two seasons ago Garrett was wrongly sent off and we lost 1-0. Last season again we lost 1-0 to a late goal but we had an earlier goal disallowed by a weak referee who allowed himself to be overruled by a linesman who was 35 yards away and the referee himself was 10 yards away. Hopefully we are talking about football tomorrow and a Rovers win.
  3. Up to the Preston game Hedges was good and to be fair not too many came out with much credit in that game. He had a poor first half on Saturday but was good in the second half. I think his energy and experience is really important to Eustace and the way he wants to play so for me he is starting right now.
  4. It's up to the team with eleven to come up with a way to beat them. City couldn't do it against Arsenal, Burnley couldn't against us, we couldn't do it against Preston but a positive early substitution and change of shape saw us comfortably home against QPR. I quite like watching a good defensive performance and as we did against Burnley. It was a most satisfying point given the circumstances.
  5. I was just scanning through the under 21 fixtures and in October and November we have 13 games scheduled in the various competitions. All of these are midweek and quite a few are lunchtime kick offs.
  6. I read a lot about the '11 v 11' debate but when it's Rovers playing I honestly don't care if the opposition have a player sent off and it's in the 'soft' category. If it gives us a better chance of winning I'll take it. And it really doesn't bother me when watching games as a neutral as it sometimes area an extra dimension to the game. The game has changed along with laws, interpretations etc and it's a different beast now to when I retired in 2006.
  7. Not a red for me neither. No intensity in the challenge and certainly didn't endanger Madison's safety. He also loses his footing. Perhaps it's a bit of karma as there have been many occasions when Fernandez should have been sent off but wasn't. I'm pretty sure they will appeal.
  8. Szmodics on the bench for Ipswich against Villa.
  9. Experience taught me. Everyone is different but I found that worked for me and in flashpoints it had a calming effect on any players who wanted to seek retribution.
  10. I prefer quick, decisive decision making though. I found it I was thinking too much I invariably went yellow. Experience taught me to go with my gut reaction rightly or wrongly. That alone would help to 'sell' the decision.
  11. Experience taught me to back my gut reaction to serious incidents. I don't like it when referees are slow to issue red cards as to me it looks like they are in doubt. The incident where the Nobber was sent off last week was 51 seconds from the challenge to the red card being shown. I honestly thought he was going yellow given the time lapse. It also acts as a pacifier to any players looking for retribution. I have heard commentators praising this by saying the referee was taking their time. I disagree and like to see decisive refereeing.
  12. He has done several times but yesterday he turned to the pitch and bowed. I thought it was in recognition to the other players but it could have been to the Riverside. He signed my granddaughters Japan flag at Stockport and he was visibly emotional. He bowed to us after we thanked him for doing it.
  13. I haven't read every post but from the ones I have read there has been nothing about Hedges playing left back in the second half. I thought it was a masterstroke by Eustace despite me having reservations when he lined up there. His athleticism was important as he worked the line often from deep positions whilst he showed good defensive awareness. I don't think he will feature too often in that position but whilst Beck is suspended it's good to know we at least have some cover.
  14. My gut reaction was red card. He was high, at speed and his lunge looked out of control this endangering Baath's safety. We said the very same thing about the QPR number 30. His challenge just before the red card was certainty worthy of a yellow card but it wasn't even given as a foul. Incidentally both of these incidents came after the additional minute was over.
  15. I'm starting to think that the captaincy hung like an albatross around his neck. His form with the armband was poor which has been widely acknowledged. His performances as just a player have been good to very good. It's something I think Eustace has looked at, even perhaps Hyam has admitted the captaincy affected his game.
  16. We have eleven games in October and November which includes two international breaks. You make a good point about the possible forward thinking. We were talking today and didn't think we are picking up too many injuries this season. I do wonder if the lighter work load in training and the time off that Eustace gives them is a big factor here.
  17. Crawley v Bolton was 12.30 today. That is probably a 6 am set off for the majority of their fans for a red button game.
  18. I think Travis has probably been one of our best players so far but today was his fourth booking. He was clearly being targeted by several QPR players and eventually snapped for what I thought was a silly booking.
  19. That was as comfortable a home win as it gets. Pretty much total dominance all over, the only thing lacking was more goals. Being critical the first half seemed a carry on from Preston as our play was too sedate for me at times. Unlike last week the sending off just before half time was a major turning point because we made it count unlike last week. Eustace was braver today and made the change at half time and it paid dividends. Our attacking suddenly had far more purpose and Cantwell was the catalyst for most of it. Chances aplenty were created and the first goal takes some pressure off and pass the ball in a more adventurous way. Carter was more of a right winger for long spells and offered a great outlet, something he hardly did in the first half. The second goal allowed us to rest players with two games coming up next week and also give some minutes to others. Three clean sheets on the bounce, adding two points per game and fourteen league goals. That start is beyond my wildest dreams and I really like the solid look we have and now a fit Cantwell could be the key to open doors when we need it. A special word from me though for Dolan. Last Sunday aside he has had a great start and his work rate, endeavour and attitude isn't lots on Eustace.
  20. How is it sensible to be able to order online and then have an option to pick it up in person. That's nothing to do with systems or the future. There should be choices for supporters who want to buy in person or online.
  21. That's another area where they let themselves down - basic communication. The day after I ordered our Burnley tickets (I assume Burnley is one of the games you refer to) I went down to collect them and was told they wouldn't be available to collect until the following week. Had they stated that when I bought them it would have made more sense.
  22. With an early kick off, live TV match and around 600 expected from QPR tomorrow's attendance figure will be interesting. I wonder if the large number of under 12 season tickets sold this season has heightened the clubs suspicions that a few are being abused by 'older' fans.
  23. I wonder if this is the reason why Michalski has returned to Rovers.
  24. I agree. It's a risk I personally wouldn't take.
  25. As yet there is no charge for collection. It is.my preferred method and except for the cup match at Stockport I have done it for every away game so far.
