We really played hardball there didn't we. Palace took advantage of our dire financial situation - that's the bottom line. If you don't agree fine but that is the fact which underpins the whole debate.
 -
I honestly can't remember many clear cut chances for City and again, from memory most of their six shots on target were from outside the box. The service to Haaland was poor in my opinion particularly the lack of balls into the box where he is dangerous. Tactically Palace got it spot on for me as they denied City space to run in behind. Palace can play some good stuff but yesterday showed that there are more than one way to win a match and ultimately that's the most important thing.
 -
I really the I think the days of Pepball are coming to an end and yesterday was a perfect example why as the high press was dispensed with. On paper City had the best players and manager but Glasner is a smart cookie and let City have the ball in their own half but as soon as they tried to advance they closed them down. Guardiola didn't have an answer to this as he can only play one way. How many opportunities did City overlook to put the ball in the box. On the few occasions they did they looked dangerous. Haaland must tear his hair out at players like Doku. I think the footballing snobs might point to the statistics which were overwhelmingly in City's favour but the most important one was that Palace scored 100% of the goals.

The court case being adjourned again meant bringing money in was critical otherwise the consequences could have been dire. Parrish and Freedman are smart operators and knew this so within days of this the deal was done and dusted with the aforementioned holding the trump cards. There aren't many Rovers fans naive enough to believe Adam wouldn't have gone in the future but the way this was expedited leaves a bad taste and is another reason to deplore the owners and their acolytes.

I would imagine he was being assessed by the medics. He looked unsteady after the ball but him. Hopefully he is well enough to enjoy the celebrations.

I think this is the JoeH used to post on here. I didn't always agree with his posts but he has done well for himself and good luck to him. -
Adam was watched regularly by the top six PL clubs and I really think that one of them would have made a move in the summer. However we needed money quickly, Palace knew this and low balled us in the relatively safe knowledge we would accept.
 -
Which is exactly what we sold him for. Palace knew we were desperate and low balled us - Parrish all but admitted that and even threatened to pull out of the deal because he knew we would capitulate.

Wharton was the stand out young player in the Championship and in his first season we just missed out on the playoffs and he played very well too. Do you really think Huijsen is worth over twice as much?
 -
Is he worth over twice as much?
 -
Dean Huijsen has signed for Real Madrid from Bournemouth for £50m. That's over double what Palace stole Adam Wharton for and he too is 20. He has played 30 Premier League games and a handful of senior games in Italy.

And Waggott gets himself a huge pay increase. No morals or shame in these people. -
There is a one week hiatus by the club are for what is reported as administration. They are back on sale on May 21st with Phase 2 pricing.
 -
Didn't Don Martin play both positions too (perhaps not for us but Northampton)? Colin Hendry was another who was quite versatile and who can forget Chris Samba creating havoc against Spurs. I'm sure I read that Mike England could play both roles too.
 -
John Waddington could also play as a striker. He played mainly in that position coming through school particularly St Mary's College. If my memory serves he was signed as a striker for Liverpool (scouted by local scout Fred O'Donoghue).

I went to watch Oldham v Halifax in the NL Playoff match last night and didn't hear the teams as the PA system was awful. After about 20 minutes I noticed a portly figure in midfield for Oldham and recognised Corry Evans. He did fine and was taken off after 68 minutes. I paid particular attention to see if he was going off for treatment but he went and sat down in the dug out. 🤣 -

I hadn't realised that. That clearly puts a different perspective on it particularly with Brandon Powell signing a new deal. -

2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂

The window opens on June 1st, closes on June 10 for six days then reopens on June 16th until September 1st. The window cannot exceed 89 days hence the break. -

The caveat which I mentioned was keeping fit. I believe he can become Championship standard if he is given the opportunity. He should get chances to impress in pre season and if Ismael doesn't think he's up to it then he will move on, perhaps permanently. -

You are missing the wider point here. There is an upwards trend in women's football and typically we are going against this by, if the reports are correct disbanding ours. Why not try and look for sponsors and try and increase commercial income (does that sound familiar) rather than just throw the towel in. We paid £1.2m on agents fees and pay ridiculous amounts to under achieving executives. A proportion of that would fund the women's team. When posters say they would welcome administration you come back to them about people losing their jobs should it happen. This is no different as people will lose their jobs through this. it simply doesn't have to be this way if the owners would fund it. -

Completely irrelevant. How many watch the under 21's and youth teams? Shall the club stop funding them too? This will affect other Rovers girls teams too. -

I would imagine Waggots wage alone eclipses the budget for the women's team. -

I agree although I do have an element of sympathy. I was told the other week that Pasha and Swag were questioning the viability of the women's team. The national media would be all over this and shine the spotlight once again on the Punekars and their acolytes over here. It's essentially a free hit for the coalition if true. -

Those awards auger well for next season when Batty can hopefully become a regular squad member and given opportunities to play. He undoubtedly has many attributes but seemed to lose his way towards the latter end of 23-24 season but this almost certainly was exacerbated by injuries. I saw him a few times for Accrington where he played both full back and wing back and was equally adept in both. -
I watched the BBC documentary on the Bradford City fire last night in 1985 when 56 people lost their lives. I was a great piece of television and included lots of interviews from supporters who were there and families who lost loved ones. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3r8r1408jro
