  1. Another baffling decision yesterday was bringing Reed on just after we scored the penalty. With us needing a goal and only a couple of minutes left surely another striker should have been brought on. Was this another example of Mowbrays absolute lack of faith in our £7m man? If that is the case why is he on the bench? Is Mowbray under pressure to have him at least on the bench to save face for somebody? Surely Butterworth would be a better option. One more unanswered question.
  2. Evans signed an extension in December until July 2021. And we've hardly seen him since. Edit: Sorry just seen your post.
  3. These last few weeks have given us far more questions than answers and some of Mowbrays interviews are both baffling and worrying. But unless he chucks a few kids in (personally I'd be amazed if he did) then he has very little choice to make any radical changes. It's really worrying and I'm already fearful about next season.
  4. And all the players in bold got new deals or extensions to their current deals John. And I'd wager every new or extended contract combined ate into a chunk of Mowbrays budget.
  5. It was bad enough having to sit through that today and to get stuck in roadworks on the M66 but then reading Mowbrays Teflon coated comments has put a tin hat on it. He hasn't signed a commanding centre half despite it being patently obvious to nearly everyone that we desperately needed one, he has persisted with a goalkeeper whose decision making is poor and costs us lots of goals and the most annoying thing is that he is the flaming manager. He is talking like defensive mistakes are something new but we have conceded too many goals since the start of last season and he simply hasn't done anything about it. The buck stops with him, he picks the players, tactics and organises training to prepare for games. If players aren't doing it then drop them. Too many of our players are in the 'undroppable' category and almost know they will be picked whatever. Mowbray spent lots of time today with his trademark head in his hands or berating the fourth official. For a long while at the beginning of the second half it looked like he had thrown the towel in as he sat forlornly in the technical area whilst Venus did the coaching. Relegation is still a possibility as I honestly can't see where another six points are coming from given the malaise at Ewood and inadequacies of the manager.
  6. I thought he resigned and took Rovers to an independent tribunal for constructive dismissal citing interference by Singh. Again my understanding is that Rovers settled out of court. Purely speculation on my part but the LMA would have supported him legally and financially in his case. What a bleak period in our history. Another reason to thank our owners.
  7. Leeds were excellent. After the first game of the season against Stoke I thought you would go straight up but some indifferent results and performances put doubt in my mind. Last night's performance was full of intensity, pace and skill. And the performance seemed to inspire the crowd.
  8. And for family reasons i.e. paying bills and feeding kids some people will have to work on Saturday mornings. And some might have to watch their kids whilst their wife works on Saturday morning. My point is that everyone has different circumstances and priorities. I sincerely hope you can grasp and respect that in future.
  9. My worry is that their physicality will be far too much for some of our lightweights. Last season we were in the box seat and looking good for a win as the game headed towards stoppage time. They chuck a big centre half up top, Mowbray panics and brings Elliot Ward on as a third centre back in a five and they score. I think this is pertinent in light of Mowbrays latest interview about conceding last on. It's simple for me - keep a clean sheet and we win. So a draw or defeat it is then.
  10. I think they have an obsession with plastic after playing on a pitch made of the stuff. John Beck anybody?
  11. Will tickets be available on the day to buy? If they are it flies in the face of Rovers press release this week. Hypothetically hundreds could buy tickets right up to kick off if they are on sale.
  12. I understand that Prestons very own walking yellow card Ben Pearson will miss the game through suspension after picking up his tenth caution on Saturday. The will be a blow to the Nobbers as he is arguably their best player.
  13. Is that a bit of fat Barry on a bun? Head on a stick maybe ?.
  14. It sounded like a jealous rant from somebody who dislikes us. Life's too short mate. And by the way your grammar is quite bad.
  15. They will still be 'inconvenienced' but just earlier. The only way they wouldn't be 'inconvenienced' is if there was a smaller crowd. Oh wait a minute......................
  16. I don't know why consideration isn't given to bringing it back in house like it used to be. Burnley have a catering manager who oversees the whole match day operation and functions that are outside of Saturday and weekday games. Northcote have charged top dollar for what was average and bland fayre. I believe a professionally run operation could bring in vital revenue. I think there is an element of laziness about outsourcing.
  17. It would be far too cold up there for some of these snowflakes John ?. My refereeing group once had a session with a sports psychologist and it was even more boring than one of Mr Nields Latin classes. The only thing I remembered after was he said to wear an elastic band around your wrist and if you found your concentration wavering give it a twang to shock yourself. Absolutely ground breaking ?
  18. I snigger to myself when I hear 'modern' managers talk about sports science, nutritionalists, conditioning coaches, sports psychologists and analysts. The likes of Martin O'Neill won't put too much sway on these because he simply knows the game and understands what is needed to win football matches. Stats won't play too big a part in his team selection or tactics and his record speaks for itself. Give me a dinosaur any time.
  19. It looks like O'Neill has got the defence sorted out and is building from there. Derby looked physically weak compared to Forest and Lampard looked our o f his depth as O'Neill's tactics worked perfectly.
  20. One time (or even current) Rovers season ticket holder Ian Currie has been appointed as a non executive director at Blackpool. I'm pretty sure he was, with Ian Battersby involved in trying to by Rovers from the Indians a few years ago. And from memory he was involved in a senior capacity at Bolton. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11728/11648260/I have been stopped from posting this by moderators.-oyston-removed-from-blackpool-board-by-court-receiver
  21. With regard to Raya it can be argued with justification that he cost us four points against Birmingham alone. His mad moment when conceding the penalty at home gave Birmingham a route back and hope which they capitalised on. Then on Saturday it was another feeble attempt to keep out a tame shot from a tight angle when we were 2-1 up.
  22. Best wishes Paul.
  23. My point was Rovers can't do anything when games are switched for TV. They didn't need to have the Preston game at 12, they made the decision autonomously. That's why it's irrelevant. And whilst a lot aren't happy with Sky moving games they accept it because of the money.
  24. They have been changed for TV which is irrelevant to the Preston situation.
  25. If the police made the decision I could accept it irrespective of when that was made. Presumably a police decision would have been made in the interests of public safety which is something they know about. But it wasn't, they were happy to police an afternoon kick off and the potential that brought. My frustration is that Rovers (I have to generalise until we know who had the final say) are pretty much undermining the police by having an early kick off and inconveniencing a good number of supporters.
