v Leeds United (h) - 30/11/2024

Terrific result from another too notch team performance. I have heard Eustace talk about togetherness a lot and sometimes doubted this but the last three games have shown what a team all pulling in the same direction can do. I thought we were worth the win today and had the better of the chances and Cantwell could have had a hat trick on another day. For all their possession Leeds didn't hurt us and their best chances to score were given to them by us. Once again lots of 7's and 8's from our players but Dolan was excellent today. His aggression, propensity to work hard and good decision making was excellent and if he could get anywhere near these levels every game the sky would be the limit for him. Tronstad wasn't far behind him and at times it was like we had two Tronstad's playing - he was everywhere and was like a magnet for the ball. I was never really worried in the second half despite their possession and we headed, blocked and tackled like our lives depended on it. The only downside was Travis picking up a cheap yellow card meaning he will miss the Hull match next week. We have decent options but currently Travis is really on his game so the opportunity for another player means he will have to play well. Well done to John Eustace too. I thought our game management was first class and his substitutions and change of shape saw us over the line. Hopefully we can keep this winning run going and keep us lot happy. -

I thought Bournemouth as I have a memory of John kicking Ted McDougall all over Ewood 🤣

It was a good game to watch today and the 2-2 draw was probably fair. Rovers started really quickly and got an early goal and could quite easily have had another. West Brom played their way back into the game but were assisted by some poor defending notably from the usually reliable Davies. The two goals they got were really weak from our point of view. We started the second half in a similar manner to the first but West Brom still posed a threat with their strikers pace and power. We got the equaliser and the game was set for a really good finish but the Doherty was sent off. Rovers weren't happy about the red card but from my position it looked like Doherty had caught the West Brom player. Ironically a yard further forward and he wouldn't have been sent off but we would have conceded a penalty. Isaac Dunn was our stand out player for me and reminded me of a young Adam Wharton in certain aspects of his play. His head swivels before he has got the ball played to him which gives him a good idea what is on around him and therefore doesn't give the ball away too often.

He was as hard as nails and probably wouldn't have lasted five minutes in today's football. The centre forward certainty knew he had been in a match. I recall a screamer he scored from long distance against Bournemouth (I think). RIP.

It's on ITV 4 on Saturday mornings but not every week. I just checked and it's not on tomorrow so just look at the TV listings a day or two before.

v Middlesbrough (a) - 27/11/2024

The expectations of Tomasson and Eustace on players are different most likely due to the way they want to play. With the more expansive game Tomasson wanted to play certain players were simply not suited to it. Tronstad has found a niche position that suits him and Eustace down to a tee. And, as many have said one of the real beneficiaries of this has been Travis. -

I saw you were suggesting a new deal for Travis on another thread due to his good form. Travis himself puts a lot of his form down to playing with Tronstad. I honestly question your football knowledge sometimes with some of the nonsense you come out with. -

Tronstad has many qualities for sure but I genuinely think his real asset is uncoachable. He always seems to be in the right position to nick the ball away from an opponent of make an interception which is almost a sixth sense. With 18 months on his contract surely there should be some awareness down there and preliminary discussions should be starting about an extension. -

Good performance, great win from a game where pretty much every Rovers fan would have been delighted with a draw. It was evident to me early on that Eustace had a game plan of slowing the game down whenever possible and countering when we could but primarily the clean sheet was the target. And Middlesbrough tell into his trap by allowing us to pass along the back line and into midfield with hardly any press. From that perspective it was, for me the perfect away performance. The last two games have proved we can be effective as a footballing side too with four team goals of the highest quality. The Tronstad and Travis axis is proving to be fundamental to the way we play with Travis in particular playing arguably his best football since breaking through several years ago. Him being on four bookings for so long seems to have been a blessing as it appears he has stopped being a Savage wannabe and playing a disciplined, captains role. But last night for me was the archetypal team performance with every player contributing to a hugely enjoyable night down by the Riverside and a pleasurable drive home. -
2024/25 Season Tickets

The Sky money is enabling them to send very little over so my point stands about the TV money being used to keep the club going rather than any improvements in or off the field. -
2024/25 Season Tickets
arbitro replied to TheRevAshton's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I honestly wouldn't be as annoyed if I thought the money was going to improve the infrastructure of the club but as you allude to the money is helping to keep the lights on and save the Punekars from sending money over. -
If that's right then it's a nonsense. A season ticket holder for the last two seasons will have 240 points (120 per season). And why would a season ticket holder who already has a ticket want to buy one? Crazy but unsurprising.
-
Hypothetically a group of Burnley fans could buy half season tickets for a stand of their choice and cause trouble. I know it's a bit of an extreme example but it highlights the absurdity of turning genuine Rovers fans away.

Did they mention how many points you need?

Won 1-0.

1-0 up. Strich the scorer.

I have seen him play a few times and if you asked me for a decision right now based on that it would be a resounding no. However he is young, under contract and does have an asset in his pace so based on that and faith in the Academy coaches he has to be persevered with.
-
Clearly distance would be one of the overriding factors in such a decision. My comment was more of a general one that it doesn't seem to be a consideration in England as opposed to Scotland.
-
Middlesbrough just got the six goals today so thats fifteen in their last three games.
-
The referee should be available to inspect the pitch provided he is in the area otherwise a local referee would do it. As I said earlier inspecting a pitch several hours before kick off is difficult and several factors have to be considered including the forecast and more importantly the travelling supporters. Interestingly all the Scottish Premier league kick offs were delayed and all are going ahead now. Delaying a kick off is not something I can recall in the Premier League or even EFL.
-
His conduct on two occasions was a disgrace (particularly holding his face when he was pushed around the neck area) but then to wink at a team mate when the Sheffield player was sent off says a lot about him. I would genuinely be embarrassed if he played for us.

The match fitness will not be up to speed with not playing for two and a half weeks. Training is not a substitute for playing. It doesn't matter if they are professionals or not it's common sense that the level of match fitness suffers from not playing. Middlesbrough will have the benefit of playing today.
-
By the time we kick off at Middlesbrough on Wednesday it will have been two and a half weeks since we last played and the players match fitness will suffer. That's not ideal preparation for what is sure to be a really tough game.
