  1. Have I missed something? What's with the picture of Gary Bowyer?
  2. The annual exodus of loan players leaving is only something not to worry about if none of them excelled. Given how good JPVH was last year for us I would suggest it is a massive worry if he isn't replaced with similar quality, especially with Lenihan leaving. Khedra less so, but even he still had his moments. The ones that came in January I'd agree on.
  3. Best post on here for a while and the most sense spoken about BBD as well. Whilst we need a number of quality additions in like yesterday, I do feel everyone is going slightly overboard with the pessimism and the "We can't compete" narrative.
  4. If it comes to that, which I hope it doesn't bearing in mind our lack of activity elsewhere so far, Leeds would be able to massively outbid West Ham having just sold 2 players for c £110 m. Knowing the way they operate West'aaaammm would probably want him for a packet of jelly babies and a half eaten Mars Bar.
  5. I'd have thought the £1m loan fee was pretty standard for a decent PL prospect. All hinges on how much of their wage you have to stump up after that. Personally I see it as completely dead money unless they get you promoted, rather like renting a house as opposed to having a mortgage. Should be used very sparingly for that one extra special player who could make all the difference. Not as the cornerstone of your transfer policy.
  6. Maths not your strong point at school then? Half of 60 is 30 not 16. Very optimistic to think we could sell two players for £30m each every year imo. And I also think that you only thrive on the pitch by keeping hold of your better players and building round them. We competed perfectly well last season up until January then bad management and poor decision making on and off the pitch let us down. Thankfully football isn't an exact science corresponding precisely to revenue.
  7. Yes - surely you have to have a fan base in the first place before you can flog people NFT's or some comparable peripheral shite. If (as it is alleged Feilder is claiming) youngsters aren't interested in coming to the ground but are only interested in following Liverpool or City, etc, why would they be interested in purchasing Rovers merchandise in this area? They'd just go for the Premier League version wouldn't they?
  8. Not having a go, as I'm not sure there's a right or wrong answer but hypothetically would you rather we got £20m for BBD this summer but went down, or kept him and we didn't.? It's not my money so as a fan my answer would be unreservedly the latter. It's no use having money burning a hole in our pocket if any envisaged replacement won't come for the wages we're offering. (If that's the reason we're struggling to get anyone in).
  9. Be careful what you wish for. Incredibly dangerous wishing BBD away at the moment imo. I want some signings in as much as the next man but if we're struggling to attract people then replacing him with some dolloper or maybe even A N OTHER loanee is the last thing we need imo.
  10. I know most will choose not to believe it but I am firmly of the belief there was a also a very substantial budget available in January as well in addition to the very well publicised bonuses which for some unknown reason Mowbray and Waggott decided not to utilise. It doesn't seem likely to me that we would appoint a new manager and not afford him at least the same funding Mowbray had. Broughton also claimed there was a "healthy" budget shortly after arriving and again, to me, he'd have nothing whatsoever to gain from lying about that just 2-3 days into the job. He'd be making a rod for his own back. Something seems to be going horribly wrong somewhere along the line though. I always put it down to Venus being in charge of negotiations and then Mowbray topping it off with his "You'll have to work your way into the side and dislodge Corry and Benno" type spiel.
  11. Don't profess to know anything much about NFT's, nor am I the least bit interested in same, but I did hear some youngster on a radio programme who was into this sort of garbage and the metaverse etc rattling excitedly on about how someone had paid £120k for a unique pair of Nike Trainers in the metaverse. £120k for something that doesn't actually exist! Only of any value for as long as people decide it has some. Times and technology change but it sounds exactly the same principle as the Tulip boom and bust between 1634 and 1637. If our Head of Commercial is pushing this idea I'm flabbergasted tbh.
  12. Didn't realise you were being facetious, thought you made a perfectly good point first time around. As a supporter my first concern is performance on the pitch not plenty of money in the bank. If the relatively recent imposed wage budget isn't competitive enough to attract established Championship players or Waggott and /or Pasha are blocking transfer activity at every turn then a Brereton sale isn't going to change that necessarily. For me, get a few quality additions in, take the pressure off, and then and only then maybe we could countenance a potential BBD sale. Could you imagine the current squad minus BBD? It'd be absolute carnage!!
  13. He's just read what unleaded has posted on here and regurgitated it online hasn't he?
  14. If you want a pressing game tbf Dolan is your man. 2nd X1 showing the first team up possibly?(
  15. To be fair it's an extremely hot day today. That's the only concession I'll give them though, the result doesn't matter but the fact we're three key first teamers down plus JPVH and to a lesser extent Khedra and maybe even BBD in due course very much does.
  16. That explains it. I think you have him confused with Gallagher.
  17. I'll imagine he'll cut and paste the spiel from each of the last three weeks. "Progress has been made with a number of targets and we're hopeful of getting one or two in next week." Starting to feel a bit sorry for him, he's been dealt a seven two offsuit by Mowbray and Waggott in terms of the state of the squad and so far nothing has been done to rectify the situation. We don't seem to be finding it any less impossible to bring players in than under the previous regime. Wonder if it is having to run everything past Waggott and Suhail that is putting the kibosh on things?
  18. Unless you mean Nyambe is now no use to us because he has left and we have to go with what we've got, that's one of the most ludicrous statements I've ever seen on here. Bit like saying Danny Murphy and Chris Brown were better players for the Rovers than say Henning Berg.
  19. Just what I was thinking. You might criticise his output going forward but defensively he is sound.
  20. Not at all, if we accept the suggestion he was on 3k p.w. then you have to wonder how we got away with that for so long and the fact we had such exceptional value for money out of him for so long should have factored in to him being worth more when it came to a contract renewal. It is still absolute madness to me that we'll no doubt end up shelling out more in total by way of transfer fee and wages if we want a full back of equivalent quality. He was patently a vital member of the first eleven and on the basis of his quality and contribution to the team he was worth roughly the same as Lenihan in my eyes. What he was earning previously is completely irrelevant. If true he was only on £3k or £4k then that's a mad quirk of our pay structure for Academy graduates which will cost us many more top players in future if not relaxed.
  21. If he goes I doubt the whole fee would be reinvested. Personally I'd say if he doesn't go then we need to spend an absolute minimum of £6m in transfer fees and if he was sold for say £15m I'd say we'd need to be looking at spending £10/£11m of it but I'm not convinced we'd necessarily be any better off on the pitch.
  22. There needs to be a decent budget irrespective of any BBD sale. If anyone comes up with the figure we want bearing in mind his contractual situation then there's a decision to be made but if they don't he stays put for me and any recruitment calculations should be made on the basis he's staying until something happens to the contrary.
  23. I agree it would be good for BB. The way things are going though I disagree it would be good for Rovers to lose him though. Absolutely disastrous in fact. Another Rhodes type situation with relegation soon to follow in the offing.
  24. With Mowbray no longer here to do his old Club a favour, you'd hope JDT and GB would have more sense.
