  1. Agreed - even though he was quiet for a lot of the time he was on the pitch last night, he scored one (albeit disallowed) and had our next best chance, purely from being in the right positions. Adam Wharton has to come back in as well. I felt last night was screaming for a player like AW. And, to repeat literally every Rovers fan at the moment, stop pissing about with the ball at the back.
  2. Penalty takers are decided before the match, not on the fly (except for shootouts). Hirst was the taker on the field and he took it, badly. Its the rest of the game that was more concerning; we were dreadful for the vast majority. A half decent team would have scored a hatful against us tonight.
  3. I know it’s ‘the journey’ and all that. But just fuck off. And that Wallace and Gromit lookalike Robinson is an annoying prick.
  4. Such is our inconsistency this season, I honestly have no idea for tonight. We could get the Rovers that turned up at Swansea and Blackpool, or we could get the Rovers that a terrible Luton side turned over. If I was picking the team, I’d bring Brittain in for Hedges and I’d really want A.Wharton in the middle, possibly as part of a 3-man midfield. Gallagher’s input for our opening goal at the weekend shows exactly why he’s important in tight, scrappy games and I’d keep him in tonight. Dolan has done quite well recently, but he struggles and gets lost against bigger defenders, so I’d sacrifice him for either Dack or Szmodicz. However we line up, it’s imperative that we make a good start tonight.
  5. That's reaching more than a bit. I'll take Broughton's on his word that the owners have backed him on everything he asked of them, within FFP rules. And they certainly backed Mowbray during his time here. TM could do with moving on and letting go. He left on relatively good terms, despite the annual death spirals and these constant little snidey remarks about the club that paid him handsomely for 5 years is only making him look like a dick.
  6. Really good news, this. Best for his development and protects our investment / future asset value. Ideally he'd play Premier League football with us in a few years, but if not, hopefully he earns a huge money move. Both this and A.Wharton's contract is a big statement that we're no longer operating under the halfwit operational management that saw the likes of Nyambe, Rothwell and our club captain walk away for free this summer.
  7. I think it'd be harsh to write him off as such, as this stage. He was excelling the PL2 competition and Spurs fans really did/do rate him as a real prospect. You'd imagine he'll get his chance over the course of the season and if he is as good as some think, it'll show.
  8. Barely passable first half, horrific second. Beaten comfortably by a very poor Luton side, just not good enough. At various points of the second half, instead of chasing a goal, we were fannying around passing between the back 6. Brittain was a country mile better than anyone else on the pitch when he came on and Pickering had a decent game. The rest can hang their heads; that was pathetic.
  9. Nathan Jones really is the most odious little creature in the league, isn’t he? He’s either on the spectrum for something, or he’s taken in copious amounts of narcotic substances before each game, but he literally cannot stand or be still for more than half a second. Proper annoying little shit.
  10. I thought it was Carter's best game for us - looked very comfortable down the right. Pickering did similarly well down the left.
  11. Wharton, Ayala and Hedges have all been missed - that back three tonight won't concede many goals (if they all stay fit).
  12. Lovely finish. Really enjoyed our performance tonight.
  13. Looked a shocker of a decision, that. But we've had plenty go against us, so we're due one.
  14. As things stand (at HT), we're 3rd and 3 points off top.
  15. To be fair, he's had a couple of decent matches - Blackpool away was the most recent. But you're right, he's been decent tonight and looks like he might be a good fit for this setup.
  16. Delighted with that first half - I feel that this is more similar to how we'll look on a consistent basis once JDT has the team playing his way. We looked tenacious and wanted to win every ball. Pleased for Dolan to get an assist and Hedges to grab a goal. Thought we looked solid at the back and both Pickering and Carter looked very decent at either WB side. You could argue that Watford have been poor; I'd say we've not allowed them to play.
  17. Really pleased with this - and how quickly we've moved to tie him down. Get Phillips and Batty sorted and the future is very bright.
  18. I really like the look of that side. Back 3 looks as solid as we can be, until Ayala replaces Carter. More than enough at the other end to create some chances and cause some problems. Really difficult to predict how we'll do so far this season, but I'll err on the side of optimism and I think we'll do the southern fairies.
  19. Based on how many fans piss off 5/10 minutes before the end of matches (presumably to beat traffic), I think you might be right. I live on the Fernhurst estate, 5 minute walk for me post-match!
  20. We made less of a loss in this most recent period, hence their input is lower. As for the original question, I'd absolutely like to see them here more regularly. Obviously the younger son attends almost all home games, using Jack's old lounge. Suspect some of the family have been sporadically, but kept a very low profile.
  21. In line with how inconsistent we've been this season, so far, I'm going for a win against the pie munchers. Need much better than yesterday's showing and hopefully we have a couple of bodies back from the treatment room - S.Wharton in particular. Any talk of a relegation fight is guff in my opinion, but if we have any aspirations at all for this season, we need to be beating the Wigans.
  22. Would recommend it! We went around row 5/6 I think and it was a really nice view of the pitch.
  23. Agreed on this - yes, he was horrendous against Wigan, but it's unfair to forget some good performances (and clean sheets) earlier in the season. As a number 2, he's fine and a lot better than some we've had in the recent past. The Wigan game sadly marked his card for a lot of fans.
  24. Nope, signed alongside Bobo O'Brien. You can add Jimmy Corbett from around that era also.
  25. Definitely agree that it's too early to really judge - he did well at Swansea, but (as above) was poor along with the rest of the team in other games. I see him as a decent squad member and, if he gets a run of games, you can see him getting several goals - which could be vital come the end of the season.
