Sunday lunch at the Brown Cow in Chatburn yesterday. Terrific, but you need to book, it was very busy which is always a good sign.

The comments in the LET are just as bad. What chance do we stand with people with such blinkered views? The where would we be without Venkys brigade, I have to work with one of them. -

I can’t wait for the day when the players wages don’t get paid. Then the EFL will have to get involved. Expecting ex players or the local MP to raise their heads above the parapet ain’t going to happen, their all to frightened of upsetting folk. When you look at Waggott etc. it is sickening to realise that North West Counties clubs are run on a far better footing than the Ewood shit show, and those clubs are administerd by amateurs. -

I have tried the Glen Marnock Speyside Single Malt from Aldi Gav and that is very nice. They also do an Islay version.

I wish Bill Shankley was still alive just to get his take on all this bollocks !! Here are two of his quotes that perfectly sum up the game without resorting to gobbledegook, “Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple.” “A football team is like a piano. You need eight men to carry it and three who can play the damn thing.”

Which media outlet will be the first to say ‘Frank Lampard's Coventry City’. If for no other reason I hope we stuff ‘em. -
There is a documentary on Sky about Denis called “Lawman”, and there is certainly a small clip showing him score at the Darwen End. No idea of the year, sorry.
-
My dad reckoned Tommy Lawton was the greatest header he ever saw. Stan Matthews said this, "Quite simply, Tommy was the greatest header of the ball I ever saw." I never saw Lawton so I’ll have to go with Denis as I certainly saw him .

From The Star Ben Brereton Diaz’s Sheffield United return has been plunged into doubt amid reports one Championship promotion rival holds a key advantage in negotiations. United have been interested in signing Brereton Diaz all month, with manager Chris Wilder prioritising the arrival of attacking reinforcements. The Chilean international bagged six goals in 14 Premier League games on loan in South Yorkshire last season and parent club Southampton have made him available just months after agreeing a £7million fee with Villarreal. Bramall Lane chiefs had been hopeful of sealing a move for Brereton Diaz this week but as of Sunday, that is now highly unlikely - and there has now been fresh suggestions a move might not happen altogether. Sky Sports claim that while the 25-year-old is ‘keen’ on joining United this month, Sunderland and another former club Blackburn Rovers are also interested. -
If the FA really want to support the lower end of the leagues then why not , because the no replay rule stops the smaller clubs from having a windfall, give ALL the gate receipts to any club from league two or below, whether the game is home or away?
