v WBA (a) - Valentine’s Day 💙🤍
davulsukur replied to rigger's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think opposition managers have worked us out. If you look back through some of the wins pre-xmas, Bournemouth, PNE, Stoke, Birmingham etc. We had less possession and made far fewer passes than the opposition as well. Last night, despite going a man down, we managed to shade the possession and had more passes. The attackers and midfielders pressed in the right areas and we often won the ball back between the halfway line and the opposition penalty area, which allowed us to get some chances created. Sometimes it was just a case of a ball over the top and we were in. Now, teams give us the possession, knowing we can't do anything with it. Sit a touch deeper and frustrate us. A common theme under Mowbrays Rovers, we cannot break a compact, organised team down. Never have been able to. But we can't press the opposition in the areas we used to because we have the ball to start with. Our tactics aren't working because the opposition aren't letting us do it anymore. The pressing last night went to pot, people pressing all over the place, leaving huge gaps everywhere. Why was Lenihan even in the position he was when he got sent off? He's 1 of 3 centre backs not the right wing back. He's been pushing forward a lot in the last few games, to the point where he was putting crosses in against Swansea. Why the hell is he doing that? All in all, we can't go back to what we were doing, unless the opposition plays into our hands. We absolutely need a plan B, which will probably end up being plan A. This game will be tough, Bruce will have his team sitting deep and they will give us the ball. -

He's got to change it up. Probably a formation change as well, the current set up isn't working. Ayala has to come back in but if we switch to 4-3-3, it would mean dropping one of JPVH or Wharton. Mowbray won't do that but I think we should. Buckley on the bench, along with Zeefuick. Not sure if Pickering is back but straight back in of so. --------------------Kaminski Nyambe--Ayala--Wharton--Pickering -----Rothwell----Trav-----Giles Khadra--------Gallagher-----BBD Something like that. Could swap Rothwell or Giles out, maybe even for Bucko as it's takes him out of the false 9 crap. I dunno, I feel like if we go in with the same as last night, we'll just get beat again. Gotta do something to arrest this slump. -

Jesus. 4 more losses coming up then. Just the right amount to see us drop out of the playoffs altogether. -

His effort was so tame it was unbelievable. How can he be so bad in front of goal? -

We aren't even going to make the playoffs. Boro and Forest can both catch us in the next few games and have games in hand to aid their cause. We'll get some form back when it's too late and we'll be chasing the pack, ultimately falling short. Standard Mowbray, too little, too late. -

We are all over the place. It's all desperate stuff as well. Some really pointless/needless fouls. -

When was the last time he actually did earn his corn? Unless the level is raised significantly for the 2nd half, we aren't getting anything out of this. Confidence will be in the mud if we take another defeat. -

Some guy on Twitter assured us all that Zeefuick was a "far superior RWB" to Nyambe. Even had the cheek to blame the lack of goals on Nyambe. -

We are absolutely wank. What's going on at the back here? 6 players run to the ball and NONE of them get there! -

It's the team we all want but with 1 alteration, wouldn't be Mowbray if it wasn't Nyambe on the bench, Zee starting. Poor decision for me that. -

Not seen a timeframe on Edun, assuming it's a reasonable time out though. Markanday is out for the season, Poveda isn't far behind that I don't think. Might return for the last few weeks? Dack will need a few more U23 games I think. Pickering still a couple of weeks off. Gallagher should be back though 👍😂 -
Anyone ever played Ghost runner? Might as well call it Rage Quit. Ridiculous game.

Premier League season 21/22

Everton are treading a fine line, if the Dingles win their 2 games in hand (as unlikely as it is), does Lampard have it in him to get them out of a relegation battle. Not sure, don't think he does tbh. Losing 3-1 to relegation rivals is a disastrous result. He needs some results, fast. Leeds and Southampton next, 2 huge games coming up. Feels like (as we say every year) it's a bridge too far for the Dingles and surely this season, they will be relegated. -

What a shocking league that Newcastle can win for just the 3rd time out of 18 attempts and that gets them out of the bottom 3. -
Not a great source but according to the LET: "Phillips is unable to be on professional terms due to his age, however, the Lancashire Telegraph has learned when signing scholarship terms the defender also agreed to a long-term contract at the club which will kick in next summer." https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19588499.blackburn-rovers-secure-future-england-youngster-ash-phillips/

Got to be Khadra upfront. Back to what's got us where we are now. It is a concern that now we have such a weapon in Giles delivery, Mowbray will opt to use it all the time. Back to what was working. Gallagher to sub on and start trying to get on the end of crosses as option B. Tough, tough game now and it's a tipping point that we are either on a standard Mowbray death spiral or to show some resilience, which we will really need of we have any promotion aspirations, and get back to putting points on the board. QPR and Bournemouth with 2 games in hand, we need the 3 points but I can't see it. 1-1 I think.
