Good innings by Root and Pope but Pope still has it all to prove. Today was just his 2nd century in 24 Tests, on a flat track on which more than 1,000 runs have been scored in two innings, and he averages around only 30 in Test cricket. The best players are in the 40s. A nice player to watch when he's in full flow and conditions are easy but he needs to make runs on a difficult track against top class bowling to become a fully fledged Test player

A good bowler will always get Crawley out. The lad is a walking wicket at Test level. England batting for a draw from here.

Just checking in since I last looked on this thread and still no nearer hiring a manager and another 10-15 pages of waffle and speculation We were down to the dregs in terms of candidates last time so what do you call anything that's below the bottom of the barrel? A number of clubs have replaced their managers since Mowbray departed, some in a matter of days, and the length of time it is taking is yet another indication of the dysfunctional nature of our club. It just doesn't work like it should Those in charge (whoever they are) obviously decided to let Mowbray go months ago but it's equally obvious they did so without any plan whatsoever over who would replace him. No other football club (or business) operates like this.

Poor decision by Stokes and some old story for England bowlers who always seem to struggle to take wickets unless the pitch is doing something. Dropped catches don't help either. NZ should make 450 plus from here

Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?
jim mk2 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The "loyalty" card. Fans need to understand there isn't any loyalty in football. A player will move whereever he is offered the best deal. I'm sorry to see Lenihan go - we'll find it diffcult to replace him -

It's odd how Lenihan suddenly becomes a poor player now he's leaving. I thought he was rather good for Rovers, a solid, competitive Championship centre back with a good attitude. Penny to a pound his replacement (if there is one) won't be anything like as good. Coupled with Van Hecke's departure we now have a great big gaping hole in defence. -
A "man with a plan" usually means their plan is to stick around for as long as they can until they get found out It's just corporate speak waffle really and should be taken as such. It means nothing The "sustainable Premier League football" club is nonsense too, because you have to win promotion first before you try to sustain it. Having said that, I hope he's a success.

What is this new man's brief and what are his areas of responsibility? Is he senior or junior to the new head coach (when he arrives) or is it a partnership of equals? Is the new DoF going to have any say in the appointment of the head coach? I'm not sure how this is going to work but at least it's new and a different approach

2022/23 Season predictions
jim mk2 replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
As it stands, with names mooted and the "quality" of manager likely to come in, and the squad likely to be weaker, we'll be in a relegation fight. -
With all due respect, that's piffle

Lots of lovely places. Anywhere in the Ribble valley, though property can be expensive.

Absolutely right If I took over as the owner of BRFC my first question to the CEO would be: have you identified the next Rovers manager? And if not, why not? A CEO who hadn't done so would be failing in his job and should get shown the door You've always got to be one step ahead of the game in football; managers come and go and even the best ones get replaced or move on. Liverpool will already be eyeing up Klopp's replacement Rovers should have had Mowbray's successor identified months ago and appointed long before now

Root isn't even in the top 3, according to the rankings; perhaps you'd like to revise that based on facts not sentiment?

Lee Mack's joke about partygate outside the Palace provided the best moment of the weekend That and the booing of Johnson outside St Paul's showing he's now finished in politics The rest was sycophantic bilge It hasn't been such a bad Jubilee after all

Very good win. Joe Root confirming his form and status as one of the world,s best batsmen. But the problems remain. This is a poor team. If Root fails England usually lose. The top 3 are not Test match players and Bairstow at 5 is technically flawed and plays most innings like it’s a one day match Today’s win just masks all the fault lines that run through this team
-
Root and Stokes have steadied the ship and played well. There's an hour till stumps, can they take the match to day 4?
-
England trying their best to finish it by the end of the 3rd day. Same old one-days shots. Same old technical problems, same old failings, if McCallum wasn't hired as the superfans claim to correct the technical flaws, then England will continue to struggle.
-
Blundell and Mitchell showing how to play Test cricket - careful and cautious to start with, play themselves in and then start to play their shots as the bowlers get tired and the ball softens. An excellent partnership that is likely to condemn England to defeat Parkinson has bowled himself out of the England Test team for some time. Another "spinner" just not good enough.
