It was over weeks ago when we couldn’t take 1 point off the likes of Peterborough, Stoke and others. And Ewood is going to be a party venue for fourth division Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic as our lot fail to turn up again. Goodnight

“Right and correct choice”. In an apparent field of one it doesn’t take a genius to pick Stokes as captain. Key is being well paid to make decisions anyone with half an interest in cricket would have made anyway. Key has paid no heed to the previous failures of all rounders as captains. It’s too much for one man to do and his form as a player is likely to suffer. This is unlikely to end well

It's a huge risk. He's got enough to think about with his batting and bowling. It didn't work for Botham and made him a less effective player; Brearley took over and Botham was unleashed to win the Ashes I cannot see Stokes working but then anyone will be better than Root's recent dismal record that has taken England to the bottom of the Test "championship" You're right about leadership too: it's a national problem. Look at No 10.

The referee is a side issue and irrelevant over the course of the season. And I don't want Mowbray attempting to blame the ref after the Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic game either. We all know who's to blame for this season's debacle - and it ain'ty the referees. -
Boro 2-0. Rovers down to 8th. Tony sitting at home with a G&T and a smile on his face

You could argue a team with an average age of 25 is at or approaching its peak. Either way it’s a silly thing to say by Mowbray and just an excuse/deflection from his failings over the past 3 months. That’s assuming of course that the collapse in Rovers’ form wasn’t planned or deliberate. There’s plenty of fans and non-Rovers supporters who’ve looked at our dire results and come to the same conclusion -

Kieffer Moore, back from injury after signing in January, made the difference for fourth division Bournemouth. That's the value of their investment and spending some decent money, players like that rescue points and win matches. Contrast to our lack of activity in the window - a couple of good forwards to replace the injured Brereton and the ineffective Gallagher could have saved our season -
Bournemouth 2-0 down in 12 minutes..... ......FYIO, not that it matters

The Blades to lose on Friday night setting up a potentially exciting and mouth-watering match at Ewood with the crowd buzzing after the Preston triumph in anticipation of a repeat performance and the prospect of possibly Rovers sneaking unexpectedly into the play-offs. We all know what happens next...... -
Yes, I still haven’t got over Peterborough where I walked out early for the first time in my life. Then there was Stoke. Which Rovers will turn up against Bournemouth? Last night was so frustrating and annoying and bewildering because it showed what should have been possible. Perhaps the simple answer is Preston failed to get in the faces of our nice boys like the others “dogs of war” sides do. Basically we’re a soft team that’s easily bullied
-
It has to be remembered Preston were awful last night and although I don’t follow their results closely I don’t think their recent form had been good either. They’re a mid table team with nothing to play for and maybe we played them at the right time. Our problem is playing the lower sides like Peterborough who are fighting for every point. Bournemouth will certainly be up for it too. In cricket terms we’re “flat track bullies”…….ie, we can’t handle it when the pressure is on
-
Gallagher would probably notch 10 plus goals over the course of the season if he played centre forward all the time but sorry, he is not a good player. His touch, passing, ability to lead the line, lack of physicality and general all round play is poor even when he’s played in his “best” position.
-
Far too much optimism for the weekend - haven’t people learnt their lessons over the years that Rovers build up hopes only to crush them?? Which part of this Jekyll and Hyde team will turn up? I think we all know the answer to that one
-
It makes you want to tear what's left of your hair out when Rovers play like that after the dismal efforts of the past few months and the points we have (literally) thrown away. I think I'd have preferred a dull draw tonight because at least it would have been consistent with the form since the new year and not given fans false hope. Who wound the Rovers players up tonight because the way we approached and played the match was completely at odds with so many recent games when most of the team (and the manager) looked as if they couldn't care less? It doesn't make sense
-
Can't agree more. This result and performance is as frustrating as the rubbish ones since new year
-
The bet on the result he placed at the bookies has gone wrong Still, he 's done well over the past 3 months
-
Season over so they return to form when it doesn't matter This Rovers team and the club's management have cheated the fans It's almost as if they planned it.....

Pat on the back to whoever said we'd start playing well when the playoffs were out of sight

Don't bet on it Golden Goodbye..... for "services rendered"

His multimillion pound payoff cheque arrived in the post this morning

Good day for our friendly neighbours - genuinely hope they stay up - and a bad one for Evertonians. It's going to the wire and will be fascinating to watch
-
Great win for the Clarets..... over to you Everton

Mission accomplished, another 12 months out of the spotlight under no pressure. A great day for Tony and the Ewood hierarchy in their safe, well-paid sinecures

Never mind poor Saints fans and their team’s poor attitude. There were a few thousand Rovers fans at Peterborough a week ago who had to suffer an uninterested team and manager having a nice day out in the sunshine. I’d love Burnley to escape but not at his expense of Everton. Unfortunately fourth division Brentford have survived. There will 7 London teams in the Premier League next season and that’s 7 too many.

The Mowbray to West Brom story cannot be credible and a quick check of the Albion messageboards must surely confirm it? On old friend is a West Brom fan and although he liked Mowbray when he was in charge many years ago there's no way he'd want him back there. It just doesn't ring true Someone posted the Championship table above from a few short months ago when we were 2nd. Forest and Sheff Utd were 11-13 points behind us and Luton a staggering 17 behind. It's a long old season and consistency is everything but it takes a special kind of talent for Tony to engineer that kind of collapse in form
