  1. First up, the Champions League is a big turn-off for me. It's a money making machine for football's elite - and it's going to get worse as the richest few corner all the wealth and power - does that sound familiar? I never watch it. It;'s also a misnomer, because its not a competition for champions I loved the old European Cup, knockout football at its finest. The Uefa Cup and European Cup winners Cup were great competitions too. They had kudos and meant something. I went to Everton's Cup winners cup semi-final against Bayern in 1984 - one of the best night's football in my life Second, the trouble last night. I had friends in the thick of it last night - they were there working in the media, and they blame entirely chaotic French "organisation" and French police looking for a confrontation at the slightest sign of a problem (and even if there wasn't a problem). Having attended the Paris marathon recently and the lack of organisation at that event, I'm not surprised at all
  2. How's the "plan" going that some fans promised us was in place weeks ago and would result in an appointment by the first week of June? Or was there never a "plan" in the first place?
  3. We've been waiting more than a decade and the "experts" running the club haven't got the right man yet How long should we wait?
  4. According to one or two superfans, there was a "plan" in place for when Mowbray left, including a "director of football" and a "head coach". Could they provide an update on the progress of this "plan" and how soon there is likely to be announcement? It would be good to know when they expect our new management will be in place Otherwise supporters will conclude there is no "plan" and never was a "plan", and the few players left who aren't either leaving and/or out of contract will report back for training still not not knowing who their boss (es) for the new season will be Thanks in advance
  5. Fans having fun? Doesn't bother me. I prefer the bigger picture. As you say, each to their own
  6. I don't enjoy it... to repeat, I wanted them to stay up instead of Leeds. And that doesn't make me any less of a Rovers fan I'm not "hoping for a 1-2 either". Stop making if up. But I do fear they'll beat us home and away
  7. I didn't say I wasn't .....but I do fear the outcome
  8. I like the Lancashire town team clubs to do well .....I've said so many times. I would like them to be in the Premier League instead of poxy southern clubs like Bournemouth and Brentford. It's also not difficult to understand that it is possible to be a lifelong Rovers fan and not dislike Burnley
  9. Burnley are still in a much stronger position than us thanks to parachute payments. Rovers fans won't be celebrating when they do the double over us next season
  10. Sad for Burnley. Just 4 Lancashire clubs in the top flight next season Fourth division Brentford revert to type. Hopefully they'll go down next season with Fulham and Bournemouth
  11. Fourth division Brentford equalise Just needs one Burnley goal now........
  12. I'm a progressive. It's a lament for the lack of ambition and confidence of the old Lancashire town clubs more than anything - and a kickback at the growing north-south divide
  13. Not looking good for our fellow east Lancastrians Brentford playing like the fourth division club they are
  14. Back in the good old days, before the days of play-offs, the whole Football League programme was wrapped up by around the end of April with the FA Cup Final the following weekend and the England-Scotland match the following week. Then we could all settle into summer and enjoy the cricket...........
  15. Buttoned shirts….absolutely not
  16. Managers have to help here - they can instruct their players not to goad away fans. Any transgressions and the player gets hit with a big fine. And the clubs have to act too. Those Everton fans goading Vieira are easily identifiable - they should be banned from the club for life. In fact, anyone who goes on the pitch should be at risk of a ban.
  17. This sort of stuff was rife in the 1970s and 1980s, resulting in the calamities at Heysel and elsewhere. The football authorities clamped down on it by making grounds all-seated and erecting fences around the pitch. Fences around the pitch: that's where we're heading if this becomes commonplace again.
  18. Small town or big town in Yorkshire to go down on the final day? I'm backing the small town because they're Lanky like us
  19. If it stays like this Burnley need just 1 point in the final game to stay up. They could lose and still stay up if either Everton or Leeds don't win.
  20. "You send them out for a run, then let's go inside for a cup of tea" That'll be £100,000 a year please
  21. Oh dear. Aaron Ramsey the villain. At least one half of Glasgow will be happy..........
  22. It's because our "ales" are generally not ice cold like their "beers" (lagers). They cold, but not so cold (and fizzy) that they take the enamel off your teeth Going back to the Uefa Cup Celtic away game, that's probably one of the best performances I've seen from a Rovers team, albeit we didn't create that many chances. It was almost inevitable that we'd give away a goal near the end though, when Tiny Taylor went to sleep at a corner Martin O'Neill did his homework for the second leg, changed his team around, marked Tugay out of the game and Souness didn't have an answer The Ewood match was memorable for other wrong reasons too - some truly horrible Celtic fans outside the ground hanging on walls and railings shouting obscenities about the "English".
