On present form, how likely is that? -

Peterborough United away next and if it weren't for a long-standing commitment to attend this game, I have to say I wouldn't bother making the long trip down the A1. On the plus side, in 2 previous visits to London Road I've seen Rovers win both times, the first including a Jordan Rhodes hat-trick and one of the most enjoyable days in years standing on an old-fashioned terrace behind the goal under a low roof just like the Darwen End in years gone by. The terrace has gone now but the atmosphere that day was brilliant. On the down side, I think the chances of us getting the play-off push back on track with a victory are unlikely after the abysmal showing against Blackpool following on from a series of poor performances. Posh have had one of two decent results in recent weeks with draws against Luton and away to Bournemouth, and a surprising 3-1 victory at QPR. They may be bottom of the league but, in contrast to Tony Mowbray-inspired Rovers, they clearly haven't given up the fight. 1-1 draw at best.

Premier League season 21/22

Looks like the end for Burnley. Sad to see a Lancashire town club go down, would much rather have seen fourth division Brentford get relegated. -

Defeat is unthinkable today. Burnley have 45 minutes to save their Premier League status Come on the Clarets -

Delighted for you mate - hope you stay up, and I hope Everton do too. Brentford was always my preference to go down but they're safe so Leeds, Watford and Norwich will do -

Was only young at the time but IIRC Fergie elbowed the Coventry left back in the face right in front of the referee and the Nuttall Street stand. Was the full back George Curtis or Dietmar Bruck? First time I'd seen a sending off - they were so rare in those days The match was a turning point for Rovers as a club. If we'd won we'd a good chance of going straight back up to the first division but we didn't and we went into a steep decline from that point. Coventry at the time represented the shiny new motor industry and east Lancashire the declining textile trade. It was all so symbolic -

The portents aren't good. We're usually slow to get going after an international break, we're in poor form and Coventry have given us trouble over the years, going back to the 1966-67 season when we lost a big promotion game at Ewood against Jimmy Hill's team This is an away game I was looking forward to as I haven't been to the Ricoh but unfortunately I'm away. This script is probably written though - from the start we'll be all over the place with a disjointed, disinterested team that will probably go 2-0 down before it wakes up and starts to play well in the last 10 minutes Coventry 2 Rovers 1 -
Mark Nicholas like Rob Key and Michael Atherton are media types. Just because they talk a good game kin the newspapers and on TV and wireless why would they make a good administrators? Get someone in from outside the closed and introspective English game, an Antipodean or South African, someone with practical experience to tear down the walls of the rotten edifice of county cricket and rebuild it.

Billings is 30 and has played one match in his Test career. If they're considering him for the captaincy the cupboard must be bare
-
Justin Langer is the obvious candidate. A hard nut and a winner and unpopular with the players - just the sort we need I wouldn't have anyone English, least of all a media pundit. Root has to go and even if England somehow get out of this latest hole it's been bleedin' obvious for ages. He's been blundering around with poor decisions for years Stokes isn't the answer. He's already a batsman / bowler and captaincy would be too much. It didn't work with Botham and it won't work with him There's no obvious candidates unfortunately - it's a team lacking in talent and leadership

38-3 Can we avoid an innings defeat?

World Cup Play Offs
jim mk2 replied to Nuttall is lost's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
So frustrating that Italy denied England our first trophy in 55 years then barely 9 months later fail to qualify for the World Cup. England also failed to qualify for 2 World Cups in a row in 1974 and 1978 as well as 1994 so we know what it feels like -
Extraordinary effort by Leach and Mahmood to regain some respectability. But the early batting, oh dear, all the technical faults in evidence again with the ball moving about.

The pitch is a green top but that's another feeble collapse. Flat track bullies of the last Test found out again

How did Rovers manage to keep Simon Garner all those years? Brilliant to watch - thanks for sharing -
Tony's natural position with Rovers is mid-table so he gets a middle of the road 5 out of 10 from me. As his teacher might have said, "could do better". This is subject to revision of course; a play-off place would put him at 6; a play-off final place 7 and promotion 9
-
He's a super manager - you've been so lucky to identify him in the first place and keep him so long. If he fancies another challenge he'd be welcomed with open arms at Ewood (or me at least).

That’s asking a lot of a player who’s been out for many weeks with injury. Weren’t his goals drying up before his layoff? I went to the West Brom game where he got injured and we looked toothless then. I wouldn’t bank on Ben B to save out season though it obviously helps to have him back because he will give the team some shape and Tony might give up on some of his daft formations -

Apart from gaining entry to the Champions League club (billionaires only need apply) there is no more glittering prize in the game than winning promotion to the moneyed elite of the Premier League It transforms the finances of clubs and gives them a firm financial footing for years, so much as that even if you get relegated you have the financial firepower to keep bouncing back time and time again. It’s not right but that’s the way football is This is the gift that Rovers had within their grasp in January , our best position in 10 years since we went down and have now thrown away owing to Mowbray’s pig headedness, incompetence and stupidity. It’s so frustrating watching all this unfold but probably predictable. In hindsight it’s obvious Tony stumbled across a winning formula and when it started to go wrong he didn’t have a clue how to put to right, resorting to his usual weird selections and tactics that had fans (and no doubt the players) tearing their hair out. Tony just can’t help himself. -

Forget the play-offs, it's just not going to happen. It's so bitterly disappointing and the worst thing is Rovers are showing relegation form This does not bode well for next season -

Ince tactical masterclass. Three words you'd never thought would be in the same sentence. He'll be loving this, getting one over the club that sacked him -
