  1. Looking back, from the home Fulham debacle on 3rd Nov to the Wigan FA Cup exit on 8th Jan (the turning point of the season) our good run which took us to 2nd place in the table saw us take 23 points out of 27 from 9 games Since the Wigan defeat, we have taken 12 points out of 36 from 12 games On past form, there's a good case for saying Tony's death spiral has now run its course and we're due an upturn in fortunes On the other hand.....
  2. Hi longsiders I was down in that there Lunnon on Saturday and happened across some of your chaps at KX on their way to Brentford They were in good voice amongst the tutting southerners but I took one look at them and chose not to engage I know you'll understand Sorry to see you lose - am desperately hoping Brentford and Watford go down. No true football fan would want those nothing clubs to stay up at the expense of the great Lancashire and Yorkshire clubs
  3. Don't get why you'd want a nothing southern club to stay up at the expense of northern clubs
  4. Oh dear Some basic misunderstanding of how football works At a normal club
  5. Someone mentioned Gallagher and the fact Rovers players seemed not to want to pass to him which backs up my comment that privately they talk among themselves and know that he just isn’t good enough Gallagher also probably realises they don’t rate him leading to his confidence falling further. He needs to find a new club for his own sake and should never have been given a new contract
  6. Mike Harrison .... now there was a proper penalty taker. Nearly broke the net Was out yesterday so missed the latest debacle but it was all oh so predictable that I actually laughed when I saw the result Cannot add to much to everything that’s been said except that in any normal club with a functioning board of directors Mowbray would have been called in after yesterday’s game and probably sacked on the spot This non scoring farce and collapse in form is not normal and 99 per cent of managers would have paid the price by now
  7. On current form we’re a very poor side in a false position
  8. That’s 13 hours ? Good old Tony
  9. Is Tony aiming to beat the record for number of minutes since a goal from open play? In fact, when did we last score a goal from open play?
  10. At the risk of stating the obvious there was booing. Not most fans but there was a lot of unhappy people at the final whistle
  11. With all due respect in our current form and fans desperately worried the last thing we need is another wind up post like this
  12. At the risk of stating the obvious perhaps they were booing because we cannot score goals and they can see the playoffs slipping away? I go to watch Rovers win not a nice performance or be “entertained”
  13. No bothered about a big victory. A scabby 1-0 win will do.
  14. Feeling sorry for Chelsea fans? Nah, sorry; does not compute And lo and behold, the government comes to the rescue https://www.ft.com/content/f1e162dc-ea02-4193-ac67-f9f2548dd41e If Chelsea were not one of the "elite" clubs, such as Rovers, this would not have happened
  15. Jobs for life used to be confined to banks and the civil service Never come across it in football before
  16. Summed up as: A man who owes his job to Mowbray brown noses Mowbray Wouldn't trust anyone who can't spell honour correctly
  17. If he gets us in the play-offs and keeps the out-of-contract players, that would be possibly "good work" If he doesn't, he should be on his bike
  18. What has been clearly an aberration this season is the good run that got us into 2nd place - the fans couldn't believe it and I don't think Mowbray could either The rest has been classic Mowbray, bumbling along with confused tactics, players in the wrong positions and poor transfer dealings. So much for Mowbray being "excellent" - he's been his usual average self I don't want him here next season.
  19. Received a letter the other day and the address at the top finished "Liverpool, Lancashire" From someone who knows what's right
  20. Forgotten what it's like .....a player in blue and white halves scoring goals He looked a much more confident player when he was younger and certainly hasn't "trained on" in racing parlance. I'm sure being stuck on the right wing hasn't helped but at his age he should now be the finished article, leading from the front and banging in the goals
  21. Wharton and van Hecke might have a chance as squad players with lower Prem clubs, Nyambe and Lenihan maybe too That's about it. Big question mark over Brereton... still don't think he'd cut it
  22. Graham and Gallagher trained and played together at Rovers for a few seasons ...... that was when Gallagher should have been watching and learning how to do it. Gallagher hasn't learnt a thing. It's far too late now
  23. "It doesn't fit in with our system and the way we play" - Tony Mowbray
  24. Mike England in the relegation season 1965-66. Stuck him up front IIRC and it worked for a while. Seems to remember him scoring in a 4-1 win at Turf Moor - I was there!! Just about the only plus point in a dire season All this is hazy memories now but yes why not stick one of our big centre halves in the forward line and bang crosses at him - anything's work trying and better than Gallagher
