Good post. Amid all the well deserved praise for Souness in his early years he had well and truly lost the plot by the end. You're right - there was a sigh of relief when he went, and his decision to leave took some of the heat off John Williams, who should have sacked him several months before. Overall he was great for Rovers, but certainly left the club in a mess.

Sibley hit a 4..........however Look at the position of his head, falling away to off Look at his body shape, at 45 degrees instead of more upright Look at his front leg, at an angle instead of facing down the pitch This is one reason why he struggles at Test level. Welcome back Hameed sib.html

Another James Anderson 5-for, and he wasn't supposed to be fit enough to play Can England avoid an innings defeat?

Yes, you are imagining it, but there is a treatment (not vaccine) for it because it is a condition that a person is already suffering from I've only seen us lose once at Millwall, and that was back in the early 1970s I'm not optimistic about this weekend though

Assam's always been my cup of tea. Umpteen cups a day compared to the single cup of coffee, at 11am as per protocol Always drink coffee on a day out though. The average cafe doesn't have a clue how to make tea properly.

Nuance and subtlety falls on barren earth. The bar's got so low now it's gone underground. -

Yes thanks. I thought Brereton played very well despite having a broad Nottingham accent -

Whoosh. And there goes another one over a very low bar -

So that's Brereton's problem: he plays badly because his Rovers team-mates speak English (mostly) Here's an idea: get the Rovers players to talk Spanish and hey presto, we have a top striker -
I've seen us play at the Old Den and New Den many times over the years and generally we've usually done quite well. They're not that strong at the moment either and if we lose badly it'll be an indication of where the season will be going Millwall 2 Rovers 1

Blimey, I think his eyes were welling up at one stage talking about Rovers Until he did his Colonel Kurtz impression in the last few months, he gave us as Rovers fans some of the best times during his time in charge He knows the game inside out. With a clean slate, I'd have him back as an overall MD.

Beggars belief doesn’t it? They get paid hundreds of thousands a year yet they still don’t expect to pay for their cars of utility bills. -

Bullet dodged with Obafemi, if reports are correct. Club physio breathes a sigh of relief. -

This has to be tongue in cheek? Gallagher's first touch usually sees the ball bounce 2 yards away, his 2nd touch involves him trying to win it back again, and his 3rd touch (if the 2nd is successful) usually sees him pass it to an opponent So no, I don't see him being a success in the confined spaces in midfield Comparisons to one of the best midfield players of this generation are, how to put it politely.... ludicrous -

The “joke cup” that we won under Graeme Souness and the final in Cardiff was one of the best experiences as a Rovers fan in the past 60 years? The amazing thing is some joker “liked” your post -

Losing to Morecambe is poor but not half as embarrassing and shocking as losing to Oxford United (captain one Ron Atkinson) in the 5th round of the FA Cup in 1964. We were near the top of the first division (Premier League) and Oxford in the 4th division (IIRC). It was truly shocking Read this and try to think how it felt to be a Rovers fan then. Losing to Morecambe is a minor inconvenience, trust me There's a brilliant Pathe News film of the match about halfway down https://www.thegiantkillers.co.uk/1964oxfordunited.htm -

On the contrary.... It's only right that fans should raise concerns about his long term injury record. His manager and the player himself have flagged up his poor attitude in the past. If he comes to Rovers (on a free hopefully) the vast majority fans will give him a fair chance. But it's up to the player to prove himself -

Straw poll: Who'd rather we spent £3m - £6m on: 1. A player with a long history of injuries and unproven quality who has had attitude problems in the past 2. Renovating and upgrading Ewood Park from its current unkempt state 3. Retaining a first class training ground that 25 years on is still the envy of many Premier League clubs -

A club that also apparently cannot maintain or staff its ground properly, or is seeking to sell its training ground to raise much needed cash -

Another injured player..... welcome to the Ewood Park physiotherapy club Do we really need 2 more forwards when there are still gaping deficiencies in midfield and defence? -

Yes, his handling was poor and made Walton look like Yashin by comparison. You have to question how players like him became pros, especially in he 1960s when street footballers were coming out of the towns and cities in their thousands The fact he was something of a joke figure among Rovers fans shows how he was regarded -

True, but you'll get jumped on for saying so If we are signing him, we should be getting him on a free transfer Paying any money for him is madness- -

How can it be a "good deal" for a player who has a horrendous record with injuries, missing large parts of the past 2 seasons seasons then having surgery earlier this year for another injury? We should not be paying any money for Obafemi. -

Just seen this..... Memories from more than 50 years ago are fading but I remember him as a reserve to Blacklaw. I'm surprised he was our No 1 in 1966-67 which wasn't a bad season as we were near the top most of the time. I can only say our defence must have been good! I remember standing in the shed behind the bowler's arm at East Lancs CC. One of the wags shouted as the EL wicketkeeper dived and missed a ball down the leg side: "have you been wtaching Barton?". It was funny at the time
