  1. So Breteton and Armstrong on the way out. Looking forward.to Sam Gallagher leading the front line and banging in the goals next season
  2. Spurs turned down by yet another manager today They'll be contacting our Tone soon.
  3. Rothwell's 26 or thereabouts. He's is in prime. He's not going to get any better. What you see now is what you get. Good player on occasions and I'd keep him for now
  4. West Ham et a know we;re desperate for cash so will be able to drive the hardest bargain possible on Armstrong .... £8m might be the best we'll get, 40% of which will go to Newcastle https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19373298.blackburn-rovers-transfers-embargo-adam-armstrong-latest/ This is all assuming we do not want to enter an embargo. There's always the possibility the club might be happy to do so. Tony would love it.
  5. GB News got off to a grim start. Among the first interviewees were Farage and Sugar, so if that wasn't scraping the bottom of the barrel I don't know what is. Andrew Neil told the nation his new station was "proud to be British". And then the audio stopped working Things can only get better
  6. Averages in county cricket are meaningless. Flawed techniques get found out at Test level and I've never seen an England team containing batsmen with so many obvious weaknesses. I've said it before but I don't understand how Sibley made it as a pro - a decent club bowler would soon work him out. Prresumably he's been at Warwickshire since he was a young boy so why have the coaches there not taught him to play in the classic, orthodox manner? As for a replacement for Silverwood, I'd always go for a foreign coach. They understand the game better.
  7. Root gone to another silly shot. Do this lot care? Silverwood out
  8. Six down, Bracey to another dreadful shot.
  9. It was tongue on cheek but as it stands we need 24 runs to avoid an innings defeat with 5 wickets standing It;s embarrassing. Silverwood isn't the man for the job IMO
  10. Another poor session from England We would have lost the 1st Test but for the rain and this one is going to be difficult to save Innings defeat looming?
  11. England's batting is poor and has been for years. So many players have been given a chance and few have looked Test quality. Silverwood doesn't inspire confidence and frankly I don't think he's up to he job; we're a million miles from looking capable of competing in the next Ashes series.
  12. Good piece by Scyld Berry in the Telegraph, saying the most successful Test teams (especially away from home) generally have older batsmen and young bowlers. England have the exact opposite at present. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2021/06/05/england-batting-line-up-exposed-naivety-youth/ Have to say I've never seen so many England batsmen with dodgy techniques. Sibley, Crawley and Lawrence all have serious flaws and in Sibley's case I don't understand how he became a professional cricketer never mind a Test player.
  13. One tournament final in our history. And we're supposed to be one of the world's leading football nations. Compare England's record to Germany, Italy, Spain, and (unbelievably to older fans) France England deserve to be slated
  14. The point is, the likes of Portugal and Germany know how to play tournament football, they know how to scrape through even when they're not at their best. In short, they know how to win when it matters - in tournaments
  15. Most of the big nations out, a kind semi-final against one of the "minnows" and we still blew it. It's pathetic and this tournament won't be different. Who is going to be 2020's Iceland?
  16. Time is grim yet compelling. If the government ever needed propaganda to encourage people to stay within the law that was it.Sean Bean is outstanding in the lead part
  17. In international terms Rice and Henderson are very average, Philips wouldn’t be in a top country’s squad and Bellingham has potential but that’s all. And the defence has obvious weaknesses
  18. Grealish is exceptional, an outstanding talent. But the fact Southgate doesn’t always start him says it all.
  19. Been watching England nearly 60 years....we've reached one final of a major tournament in our history. England always find a way to lose. We're hopeless, and it won't be any different this time. Trust me
  20. Goalkeeper and central defence.... crucial weak links in the England team and the potential for silly mistakes. Quarter-finals at best.
  21. If Mings is an international footballer then Tony Mowbray is am international manager. Southgate is worse than Graham Taylor in giving caps to players who do not deserve them
  22. ....or even a centre forward
  23. And to think he's a multi-milliionaire who stole a living from us and other clubs. Not the worst player we've had but certainly the biggest prat
  24. I notice them too Funnily enough, the Times style guide says football clubs are always singular and teams plural, which I've always adhered to Had a "robust" conversation with a US friend recently who insisted it was the other way round
  25. They look like Americanisms to me .......... to be resisted at all costs
