  1. My first visit to the "new" Wembley. Lovely stadium, shame about the football which was a festival of sideways passing and dull as ditchwater. It was like watching TM's Rovers, but without the excitement. England teams of the past with 2 wingers and a proper centre forward would have put 10 past Andorra, who would struggle to give Ramsbottom United a game
  2. England trying to build a lead and Ali and Robinson give their wickets away with T20 shots - brainless
  3. They were aged 24-29 when they won Eurovision with Waterloo in 1974. They're in their 70s now Doesn't your 20s class as "spring chickens"?
  4. Good luck and best wishes to all those trying to save this famous old club Lancashire club. Bury FC does not deserve to die
  5. Allan Hansen famously said that "you winning nothing with a team of kids" as ManU went on to dominate If these Rovers youngsters are good enough we'll be OK in this division. The question is whether Mowbray has faith in our own youngsters as opposed to the unwanted detritus from lower PL clubs Note how the narrative has changed since last season from challenging for the top 6 to avoiding a relegation battle Team Tony will regard it as a success if we stay up
  6. Where does this leave Pickering? By signing Edun is Mowbray writing Pickering off already? The lad has had a mixed start at Rovers but he has potential. Unless Edun is significantly better what's the point in signing him?
  7. Colin Hendry from Dundee. What a waste of £30,000 that was
  8. Very good signing. QPR will be top 6 this season.
  9. Edun scoring against Rovers for Ipswich..... one of his only 3 league goals
  10. All players have a price. If Burnley make a good offer Nyambe will be gone
  11. Mogga’s midgets. Someone got a lot of derision for saying a good big un is better than a good little un but in this division you need big physical players
  12. Turned on the wireless at lunchtime and stunned to hear the result Having watched India bat all through yesterday I was convinced they'd carry on but that's a brilliant effort to turn it around Robinson is a very good bowler in English conditions (though I'm not sure how he'd fare abroad) and is a real bonus this season On to the Oval... will the other batters please stand up again to help the peerless Root
  13. Why weren't we in for Ronaldo? He'd have loved Tony's false 9 role and the profit from Armstrong would have paid his wages for a week
  14. Ted Dexter - Lord Ted - died aged 86. What a player he was. RIP
  15. When were England last 120-0? Both batsmen were excellent. I saw Hameed offer one chance but otherwise he and Burns were faultless Astonishing after the last Test
  16. I remember walking away from a 2-1 home win over Spurs in which we somehow came back to score a late winner and thinking, how did we do that? It was awful
  17. Great bowling by England but will India be batting again before the close of play? Headingley drama as always
  18. CD would probably involve a tribunal and/or legal case, which he probably wouldn't want and might not win. He probably thought it'd be better to stick it out and see what happens. Tone's playing the long game.
  19. Most managers on discovering that the club was searching around for a successor would resign on the spot. Tony wants his payoff though
  20. Looks very erratic from those film clips. Is a young unproven winger really what we need? And what is Chapman supposed to make of it - the lad is 23 and should be a regular now. He will feel this is another kick in the teeth It's a bizarre signing in my view and smacks of desperation just to get a body in.
  21. He has a point though. Take 2 teams each of average ability (most in the Championship) and the bigger, more physical team will outmuscle the smaller team. This Rovers team is small and lightweight overall. You saw the West Brom game - we need some bigger lads in there.
  22. Too right he can. He doesn't get the recognition he deserves for the job he's done at Burnley.
  23. You can see the headline Brexit to blame for Rovers' transfer failings, says Mowbray Another excuse for Teflon Tony
  24. I was watching Brereton tonight. He's not going to play well every game but even he's not on form I wish he would gets the basics right, such as using his physique to keep possession of the ball with his back to goal and making simple passes to a Rovers player instead of the opposition If he could get the basics right I'm sure the rest of his game would fall into place too The lad has ability but he frustrates the life out of me
  25. There's something in this The departure of so many players has forced Mowbray to pick and stick with the limited number players that are left. He still gets it wrong though. Dolan is not a centre forward and Gallagher needs to play in his natural position
