  1. There does seem to be good team spirit - but there probably would be if we had a team of 11 French players. Chelsea and a few other clubs have had teams without a single British player and a multitude of nationalities and have been very successful. How the players gell as a group is more important than nationality
  2. Cliques form at any place of work. Nationality is irrelevant.
  3. Turkey has become an international pariah with its economy and currency tanking at a rate of knots. The country is run by an autocrat who abuses human rights and locks up anyone who opposes him. Thousands of journalists and judges / lawyers have been thrown in jail because they dared to challenge him. Then there iis always the terrrorist threat. No one in the right mind would go to Turkey at the moment - even on holiday or a thick as mince footballer.
  4. London gets at least 2 Tests every summer.. Manchester and Leeds are "up north". Same old story
  5. Where in that quote does he say he's trying to sign more ?
  6. Not sure why being British is relevant. Should we be looking to offload the 2 "foreigners" after March 2019?
  7. The Guardian has a hit rate of 44 per cent, so close to 1 in 2 of their Rovers related transfer stories turn out to be correct. Considering the amount of speculative nonsense that appears on here you'd learn more by leaving this website and reading the Guardian's
  8. I love ginger biscuits. Had one with my morning cuppa
  9. Do you know what a proper centre forward/striker is, ie a player who can play with his back to goal and hold up the forward line ? We only have one - Danny Graham
  10. ...... cos he ain't a striker
  11. Graham can only play 60 mins at most; Armstrong and Samuel are injured; Nuttall is poor and Brereton plays for Nottm Forest last time I looked. We need 2 strikers, not another midfield player who is likely to sit on the bench
  12. Multitude of midfield players when we don;t have many striker options I would say is very questionable
  13. All the more need for at least one more striker to come in and in adding an unnecessary midfielder to the payroll puts another question mark over the Reed signing.
  14. What is the point in not signing him? They all play midfield plus you're missing the point that Mowbray has promisied him regular football when we already have 4 or more playing in his position who are playing well and don't deserve to be dropped. We need a centre half and a centre forward more than another midfield player. The lad made his debut at 18 but is now 23 and has failed to nail down a place anywhere. Are we just collecting "promising young players" in the hope that one might come off? Looks like another bench warmer to me.
  15. Mowbray from his comments seems to be promising Reed regular football, but with Bennett a fixture in the midfield, Evans playing very well and Palmer and Rothwell looking promising too is there any point to this signing ? There's also Davenport, who will play at some point, and Smallwood, who has been a starter so far.
  16. Isn't he a bit like Gascoigne? Strong, a bit tubby, takes the ball past opponents, has an eye for the pass and scores goals. Gascoigne probably had more pace but the similarities are there.
  17. I couldn't see why Mowbray deserved to be handed the Rovers job. His management record is mixed and he was shown the door by Coventry in League 2 in his last post. And then he got us relegated. In days gone by, I thought Speedie was a poor signing and Martin Britt was going to be the new Fred Pickering.
  18. Fans are right to be sceptical. Man City was the wrong move for him and the Sunderland stories do ring alarm bells. He's also a case of another player who had too much praise and money when he was too young However if he is genuine about his desire to play and rebuild his career we could have one heck of a player. Give him a chance
  19. But for 2 absolute clangers from Raya at Ipswich and against Reading we would be 2nd or 3rd in the table now. He needs to be replaced if we have any ambitions of getting into the playoffs in the near future
  20. Just tuned in - has Rodwell signed ?
  21. Anchebe's glittering record. I hope he'll be paying us to let him play Years Team Apps (Gls) 2006–2013 Everton 131 (18) 2013–2016 West Bromwich Albion 55 (6) 2016–2017 Sunderland 18 (3) 2017 Beijing Enterprises 11 (2
  22. Victor Anichebe, the sound of barrels being scraped because all other options are exhausted. Dearie me
  23. Still undefeated and a great team spirit to fight back but an opportunity missed to gain 3 points against a poor Reading side. 3rd division defending and poor mindset in the 1st half cost us dearly. We played properly for only 45 minutes again - a similar fault to last season. More players injured and new signings desperetaly needed - but then the club has known that all summer.
  24. Preston losing at Norwich 2-0 and Notlob beating Brum 1-0
  25. Brentford up next and they're beating Villa 2-1 away tonight
