v Watford (a) - 13/9/25
metalrover replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Delighted with the 3 points, expected us to screw this one up, Watford away was always tough. Surprisingly they hardly threaten today. Positives : Wharton & Carter defensive partnership off to a good start. Wharton my motm. Morishita's winner on his debut, should had scored two after that screamer hit bar. Alebiosu looked good, adapting well to the Championship. Trondstad solid in the holding midfield, Mr reliable in midfield. Negatives : Ohashi looked too weak to lead the frontline, can't hold up the ball, and not quick enough. Matter of time Gudjohnson will be main centre forward. Tavares, one good pass from him, the rest was awful. Looked a long way from Championship standard. Subs : Gudjohnson looked promising -

New boy Morishita looks like he got an eye for goals Alebiosu play ok, adjusting well to the Championship Tavares looks very lightweight at the middle and quite frankly not good enough. Big problem in that midfield when Trondstad leaves. Defensive pairing looks ok, Wharton & Carter both look decent so far -

We are already leaking goals, losing Hyam so late in the window is absolute madness. -

Patrick Roberts to join Brum on loan from Sunderland. That's a proper winger and a clear signal of ambition. Sigh.. -

Bookie's odds makes sense only if Rovers is operating as a normal football club, but this is clearly not the case. -

Sheffield united played like a different team from the one that dominated last season. Brittain doing well for boro, quality going forward with decent crosses. -

It's way too late now VI starting to realize majority of the signings are duds, way way below Championship standard. Window gonna slam shut, we gonna get stucked with this lot of development players to steer us out of trouble. Watching Rovers gives me severe depression. -

Can fully understand the new signings need time to gel, but even if we can finish this season staying up, in one or two seasons later, the new lads (assuming they are good enough) get used to this league, the same low-ball contracts offers will appear again. We will lose these "contract rebels" and replace them with cheaper new ones. The same shit will repeats itself, and the team will forever be in transition. This low wage budget, low cost foreign signings at all cost is no way to run a proper Championship club. The last time Venkys did this, we got relegated from the premier league almost instantly. Low balling contracts to key players causing them to reject contracts and ended up sold or leaving on a free destroy the stability & cohesion within the team. Players come and go, yes, but you simply cant lose that amount of key players within such a short time. It's going to create one hell of a disaster -

Playing Ohashi off the main striker probably is a better bet for me, not that I rate Gueye, but Ohashi is way too slow and weak as the main centre forward. -

VI should try Henriksson Trondstad partnership, Tavares shouldn't be a starter. Ohashi too weak to lead the frontline on his own 3-4-2-1 Wharton Hyam Miller Hedges Henriksson Trondstad Alebiosu Cantwell Ohashi Gueye -

Poor game from Tavares & Kargbo. Tavares looked well out of depth in this league. Unbelievable miss from kargbo, how did he miss that one? Gueye kept getting caught offside, no impact, our forwards cant finish, we can't have an impact on games. We were lucky not to have gone down to 9 men, Cantwell's silly outburst after he's already on a yellow. It's gonna be a long hard season -

I would bite their hands off if it's true, then use the money to bring Kaminski back once Luton goes down. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
metalrover replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Not optimistic about Ismael getting much out of this squad of players. 2 games in charge, performance had been crap, players are not reacting to this new manager. Can't help feeling we are re-entering the pre Mowbray days. -

Toth deserves a start in the next game, can't do any much worse surely. Danny Batth was sorely missed, Hyam clearly not a leader at the back. We will be back to shipping goals in if Batth's contract wasn't renewed for another year. Together with a clown keeper, and a front four that doesn't score many goals, a disaster is waiting to happen. -

Could this means JDT style of play was the problem all along? I dont know. Direct style football and being industrious & hard to beat was the key for us punching above our weight in the premier league -

All eyes now on the central midfield void. No quality replacement for wharton. The Travis loan now looks like a big mistake. And if Pears get injured again, we might go down. -
Good riddance. Injury prone, unfit and doesnt look interested, cant see him cutting it here. Big big question mark on quality of the Rovers scouts, or was there even proper scouting done before offering him a 4 years deal? Shiny egg most probably jumped in without any scouting cause he was free
