Hes not better than Lenihan. Statistically it is proven that Lenihan is the biggest miss.

Last season, he got 9 goals and 3 assists in the League, and 17 goals and 6 assists in all competitions. The season before, 9 goals and 10 assists in the League, 18 goals and 17 assists overall. I think he will be a good addition but as a direct rival in our supposed play off ambitions lets hope he isnt. Whether he goes onto have a long career in the PL or not is totally irrelevant because it wont be for us. Sadly, all that matters is how good his career is within the 2019/20 season as far as we are concerned. And like I said, I am not necessarily saying that one is better than the other, one is far more cultured and technically good, whilst the other is far more dominant aerielly and battle hardened. Bauer has like I said been part of a better defence this season, just about. I would probably say that Adarabioyo is better suited to playing next to Lenihan, but come August when we are going to be starting another Championship season, Bauer would have left us with one less spot to fill. Both are good Championship defenders and it would have been ideal to get both. When Lenihan was out Adarabioyo looked a shadow of the player with Williams next to him because neither bring the aeriel prowess of a Lenihan or a Bauer.

To be honest, I am unconvinced that we even need to replace him before we let him go, he has offered nothing at all and I am incredibly skeptical that he will do anything in the Dutch League. It seems quite naive to expect him to go there and become a different player scoring goals but we can only hope. You are perhaps re-writing history somewhat on Holtby's signing, on here we had people stalking his social media, speculating about ferries he was getting on and road signs he was going past, people searching for pictures and locations that his agent had posted, commenting on a random member of staff following him on social media, it was pretty incredible and on the border of requiring a restraining order for one or two! Sinclair should be a brilliant addition sadly and one I would have loved to see here. Holtby has the added mystique of coming from abroad but whilst his CV has reason for optimism he had just been let go by a second division German division side and hadnt been snapped up by mid to late September. Its a little remiss to suggest that Bauer wouldnt have been a good signing either. Preston have conceded a couple less goals but ultimately, with different styles, I dont think there is much in Bauer v Adarabioyo but the former would have been a permanent addition and we wouldnt have faced the same issue again this summer.

Walton has been directly responsible for a fair few goals, 2 at Forest, 1 at home to Huddersfield, 1 at PNE, 1 v Sheffield Wednesday, a shocker v Barnsley, 1 away at Stoke, I doubt Raya has made that many mistakes considering Brentford as a team have only conceded 21. Dont think for many, his excuses and reasons why supposed (and unnamed) targets didnt sign make any difference. A manager is judged on who he does sign, and the keeper he did sign is a downgrade on one who was fairly error prone himself, not players he wanted that didnt come. If you sell a talented but at times error prone goalkeeper and loan one of a similar age with slighly less talent and possibly an extra error or 2 thrown in, no matter what happened between them 2 transactions, the manager doesnt come out in a favourable light. If Mowbray was telling the truth on us having a similar budget last summer to the one before, then surely the Raya proceeds for a sale done after the Gallagher purchase should be waiting to spend right now?

Of course Waggott is happy with him, he always with be! He is close mates with Mowbray, he wont call for his departure. Ultimately, Mowbray was unable to prevent relegation but then got us promoted and we are now a Championship club. First the buzzword was stability, that has been ticked off. Now it is about progression and ambition, trying to find a way to get into the promotion mix. To progress, a managers recruitment is critical, and with Dacks goal record, we always had a chance of nicking games, and even then we never at any point sat in the top 6 from what I can recall. It is only now he is injured that wasting the money on Brereton and Gallagher really starts to hurt us, and come into focus. 2 chances to get us some attacking power, and in a combined 2 years (Brereton 18 months, Gallagher 6) these investments have got us 3 poxy League goals. On the back of these failures, even if we did have any more money to throw at it, can he justify being the man to trust him with it, baring in mind that without a fair few reinforcements, this squad will at best be what appears to be not miles away from the play off picture, but realistically, never actually in the top 6, and rarely within even 3 points of it? Armstrong is undoubtedly our only goal threat at the moment in an otherwise barren team. That being said, I remain unconvinced that up front is his best position. So often he naturally drifted wide, the goal a perfect example. Often though when he does go wide, we have absolutely no one in the box and that is obviously not conducive to scoring many goals. When he remained central, he struggled to get any change out of the centre backs, often making very little effort to throw his body around knowing that he was facing a losing battle against defenders a foot taller and much bigger That being said, he was unable to hold the ball up, and he is very one dimensional, and as a striker everything cant be played in behind otherwise it is easy and predictable to defend against. His pace is obviously his main asset, but as with many fast strikers, his movement is not on par with it, hence the fairly regular offsides. I think we desperately need a left back (Bell is absolutely dismal and Downing needs to be in midfield) a winger and a striker. That being said, Nyambe seems to have become as injury prone as he is important, and we cannot get by playing the incompetent Bennett there. We also could do with a new goalkeeper, and we are incredibly reliant on Adarabioyo and in particular the dominant but injury prone Lenihan to stay fit at CB. Rovers are not good to watch at the moment. 17 goals in 14 home games according to Rich Sharpe and obviously that is mainly with Dack. We dont create many good chances, we dont score many goals, we rarely get the fans off our feet.

People seem to have forgotten how poor Dominic Samuel is. I understand that Gallagher and Brereton are dismal but he comes under that category too.

If they were hurling abuse at him maybe youd have a point. Singing a song specifically about a player being played out of position followed by the singing of his name in support made it quite clear that it was aimed at the managers poor tactics, not at how poor he is as a player.

Poor game today again. Bitty, scrappy, qualitt and good chances few and far between. Nyambe although his final ball is poor absolutely terrorised Rafferty and if he is injured and Bennett covers him for a few weeks we are in trouble. Downing very assured on the ball as always, and Armstrong got a goal to boost his numbers and was our only threat albeit cant hold the ball up. Holtby, Lenihan, Travis and Adarabioyo were all ok, Waltons biggest contribution was moving a board that had blown on the pitch, was a good hit for the goal but down the middle. Johnson I thought wasnt too bad either, nothing special. 2 weakest players predictably were Bell and Gallagher. Bell is a shocking footballer, dithering, brainless, reluctant, technically poor. Why would you play Gallagher wide when you have Chapman and Rothwell on the bench? Hes bad enough up front, we may aswell have had a man less.

Mowbray has said and infered repeatedly that we dont have much, we dont have a warchest, that we cant replace Dack, he has spunked all the money away on shit. That being said, I am at least glad that he is prioritising improving the attack as mentioned above but I have no faith that he can do it to be honest. How could anyone?
