  1. Im not saying that you are saying this, so apologies, but there seems to be a growing assumption that man marking him is the magic formula to eradicating him from the game. If only if it was that simple.
  2. I think he played at least some games out wide for Sunderland.
  3. Whether he thought that or not is irrelevant, im just pointing out his obvious calibre, and he hasnt really featured much since early in the season. He scored v Brentford, his individual run was the difference v Bolton, and I thought he did pretty well v West Brom and Rotherham. He often plays on the right wing, even on the left wing I feel he would be more dangerous coming inside and linking with Dack and Graham. Him up front is stupidity and hopefully wont be repeated. I do feel he has been slightly underwhelming, but he would need replacing and I would like to see him play a bit more before January. I also dont think that Armstrong or Rothwell have been any better, but especially the latter, they similarly are in and out of the team and out of position. If he does go back, I would like a more natural wide man to come in, and not Chapman as he is too injury prone.
  4. The third comment I agree with (bar that his career wasnt going anywhere) but its irrelevant to the point Mercer made. Players will never publicly say anything but positive things about the manager, and if they did, it certainly wouldnt be allowed on the official website. Thats a point not specific to Mowbray nor Dack, nor is it a slight on either of them.
  5. He didnt say that he was lying. More that the official site will only publish positive interviews. Not that hes been put up to saying something thats a lie. Ive stated that I think its obvious that Mowbray has been very good for Dacks career, and Dack has been very good for Rovers. Just to clarify.
  6. How have you taken that as Mercer saying hes lying? Ive taken it as it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as its on the official site so only positive articles will be made. I have no doubts that Dack as a signing and how hes been managed has been a huge plus point in Mowbrays reign.
  7. The only snide connotations are towards the owners. It is at most slightly underwhelming, for you to turn "slightly above average" into being nasty is needless paranoia and manipulation of what hes said.
  8. Palmer is given a bit of a hard time, he is given occasional starts, never in his favoured number 10 position, and I dont think has done as badly as people make out. He undoubtedly has the calibre, his spell at Huddersfield shows that.
  9. How is that being "needlessly nasty" and bringing in the manager unnecessarily?! The post from @Rover_Shaun actually implied that Mowbray is a positive, but not enough in isolation to forgive Venkys. I dont see how on earth you have come to your conclusion.
  10. Mercer has a credible point, and I think describing it as "bait" is a massive overreaction. Did our players come out on the official site saying how rubbish Coyle was when he was here? No they didnt, you have to take official interviews with a pinch of salt. That said, I do think that Dack has been obviously a major plus of Mowbrays reign, signing him for cheap and undoubtedly getting a consistent level of performance from him far above expectation is testament to him. I am not doubting that for one minute.
  11. Im not sure he would, think hes overrated due to being local, he fell out of the 18 by the end of the season he left at the end of.
  12. It was aimed at how you would feel, not your actions based at how you feel. Would you be open minded and willing to embrace and willing to forgive. Or would you still feel hostile towards them and full of hate.
  13. Don't be pedantic, I know they do, I meant if they attended another game. Taking your hypothetical future scenarios out of the equation. If the Raos put out a statement tonight, we are coming to the home game against Birmingham, how would you feel? You are right, there is no right or wrong answer, all about personal opinion. And you dont have to defend Mowbrays integrity at every juncture. No one is doubting it. (That said, if Barcelona or Man United wanted him as manager, hed be gone in a shot!) I suspect @Tyrone Shoelaces was mainly pointing out the volatility of the owners beyond their choice of the current manager. Ie it could go pear shaped at any moment under these owners.
  14. So out of interest, if they came back, would you think it was positive or would you dislike it?
  15. Find it very interesting that slightly more would be willing to forgive and forget rather than greet them with hostility. I know that when the topic arose ie when a junior member of the family tested the water in the way he did the other day, I still felt animosity towards the idea in the pit of my stomach. Would I protest? (as in the past) No I wouldnt. But I certainly hope they stay well away and a League 1 promotion and a year and a bit of stability hasnt removed my dislike of them by any means.
  16. Just thought it might be worth making a poll to see the extent of peoples feelings towards the owners if they returned. Seen quite a few people suggest they would welcome the owners back due to the money they put in and their "efforts" to repair the damage. And obviously still some saying no way to the idea of forgiveness. If mods feel like its unnecessary or if its too similar to the existing Venkys thread, please delete.
  17. It would be interesting to see a poll of whether if Venkys came to a game, people would welcome them or meet them with hostility. I think the analogy of someone having the decency to take you to hospital after stabbing you in the face was a very apt one!
  18. Maybe reasonable hypothetical scenarios as to why he hasnt played much but the main issue is where he has played or where Mowbray sees him playing, thats what people have mainly criticised. It also doesnt touch the argument of whether we can afford the luxury of a player not remotely intended to start for at least the first half a season.
  19. I think £12.5 million would not in anyway guarantee the numbers in terms of goals and assists that Dack provides.
  20. Your last paragraph sums something up very prevalent on this messageboard. Either misreading or manipulating a point a poster made about one element of our team that could be improved into a post about how everyone wants to stick the knife into Mowbray and everyone is happy when we lose. For what its worth, I think @blueboy3333 made a point with more than a semblence of truth to it. I think 29 points from 20 games is a points tally that is neither incredible but certainly is acceptable, possibly slightly above that. Hes doing well hence no one is really calling for his head bar maybe Mercerman. You look at Dack and Graham and we are perhaps overly reliant on that partnership, and we arent freescoring anyway. Mowbray takes plenty of credit there in that he signed Dack for a bargain fee and has seemingly man managed him very well, and hes also seemingly doing all he can to maintain Grahams career despite his age. Wide positions however on the flip side are nowhere near as successful. The combined efforts of Armstrong, Rothwell, Palmer, Conway, Bennett and at times Reed in terms of goals and assists and also the inconsistent selections there suggest we are yet to stumble across a particularly effective set of wide men. Possibly as many of those players prefer to play elsewhere.
  21. The only difference certainly wasnt just that Wednesday didnt make special arrangements to stop him. It was the service into him. Far less long balls, Conway in particular seemed on the same wave length as him as can be seen by the first and third goals where he showed the intelligence to play clever passes to him. Far less aimless hoofball and better service to him.
  22. No thats what I mean. If it was possible I'd play at least 3 of him.
  23. I was responding to biz who mentioned using him sparingly. I also said that I think hes been excellent and his fitness is better than we give him credit for. Graham being first choice is not down to a lack of alternative or a slight on anyone else, its because hes been one of our key players all season. All I ever wanted at the moment is Brereton to be second choice in that when Graham isnt available, but based on recent selections and also recent quotes I dont think he is.
  24. I'd be very reluctant to change anything after yesterday. You seem insistent on suddenly peddling this theory, but I am not sure its 100% accurate. For example, before my time a bit Jason Wilcox was apparently a "scapegoat." People havent been unreasonable in suggesting that the Evans and Smallwood partnership is more often than not one that screams of a little too much loyalty towards especially Smallwood after last season. They played together v QPR and typified a very common performance of theirs in terms of their conservative limitations on the ball were contributing factors in an inability to get the ball forward through the lines. Against Wigan, they were hapless too. They are (especially Evans) very useful players to have in the squad, but people are justified in feeling that Mowbray is at times too loyal to them. There are a few games this season (Leeds I think aswell?) where they have played big parts in positive performances. I just feel people think sometimes we need only one of them (Evans for me) alongside either the energy and tenacity of Reed or the better passing range of Rodwell. Such viewpoints are not unwarranted or based on the generation we are in.
  25. If the EFL has relaxed its rules on cloning players, Reed would be able to do that role and continue what he did yesterday within the same team. Feel like Reed is a lovely upgrade.
