Its nothing to do with trusting Mowbray!!! I do trust Mowbray. My point is that, first of all, I havent said there is no money to spend, I dont know for sure, my point is, until players have been bought and are lifting a blue and white scarf and a shirt, im always dubious. Mowbray im sure has been told he has money. But until its spent, theres always a chance that the owners will change their mind. (I dont have any trust in Waggott particularly, Mowbray has done something to earn my trust, he hasnt, but again, irrelevant) Neither of us know for sure if we have money and how much, youve clearly a lot more faith in the owners fulfilling what they promise than I do. All I was trying to do is get you to stop spreading the myth that no one has any trust in Mowbray. If you arent going to listen to me then there is no point in continuing this conversation.

Think the key is, as people have suggested, is to bring in a striker capable of playing with his back to play. We have some exciting players, Dack, Palmer, Armstrong, they all are players who run on to play, theyve all got goals in them, they all can get in behind, to do that, the striker needs to vacate the space and link it up, Graham is the master of that. Think we will struggle to get someone as effective, as intelligent and as good at what he does as Danny Graham. We need someone to ease the burden on him, as his fitness, with age, will not allow him to play 90 minutes of 46 games. Obviously its a shame, as not only does he have all of the skillset that I have listed above, he also had an almost telepathic link with Dack. See the 3rd goal v Peterborough, the 3rd v Wimbledon, the goal v Fleetwood etc. Same with Armstrong, both goals v MK Dons are perfect examples. Sam Gallagher is not that man. I feel like hes a lazy suggestion based on the fact that hes been here before. He is incapable of playing with his back to goal, and Mowbray seemed to realise that, hence him playing wide of Graham when he was here before, running on to play. Hes decent at a few things, hes quite quick, he can head the ball if he gets a run on his man and isnt challenged for it, but hes never a target man in a million years.

You have, and the involvement of Waggott in the process is not only irrelevant but im not particularly interested. When exactly the owners get involved, again, not bothered. Do I trust them to spend any money? Not at all. why would they(owners) reduced the budget now. - and the award for the most naive comment ever goes to! Have you been in a cave during the last 8 years? My point is, you keep saying that we need to trust Mowbray to get the right players for the right prices. No one has suggested otherwise. You say Mowbray has said he has money, he might think he has but Venkys have history of whipping the carpet out from under a managers feet. Even if you have trust in Venkys not reducing the budget all of a sudden, after everything thats happened, surely you appreciate why others are skeptical, are dubious of what the owners will do next Please stop confusing this with not trusting Mowbray.
-
Ignoring your naivety in terms of implying that you know how Rovers transfers work behind the scenes now, in terms of Venkys involvement. Venkys have plenty of history at pulling the plug at any moment. Your point makes absolutely no sense. You seem to have totally missed the point. Regardless of how the internal system works in terms of transfers, the important bit is the amount that Mowbray has to play with. He has no impact in that. The money isnt coming from Mowbray or Waggotts pocket. If Venkys decided to give Mowbray no money, then it wouldnt be Mowbrays fault just because he had the money last, it would be Venkys fault. Whether its Venkys or Mowbray having the final say is irrelevant. People dont trust VENKYS. People do trust Mowbray. Please get your head around that. And it was, the smugness was needless. No one is implying that they dont trust Mowbray so please stop saying it. And everyone is happier if we spend more money.

Hate posts like this, they add absolutely nothing at all. About all this "moaning" about Armstrong, people have flagged up his poor record in the Championship and its a valid point. I personally am very happy to see Armstrong potentially join, ive wanted him all summer, he adds pace we dont really have, we know he can score goals in tandem with our current attack, hes exciting to watch and hes young. But I can respect that point as it is a very fair one. You dont have to have an extensive list of potential alternatives should you not agree with a signing. Nor is anyone putting themselves forward for a scouting role. "What do some of you expect? £10 million striker signings?" - this sort of rubbish just makes you seem petulant in the point you are trying to make. Sadly this kind of crap is lapped up all too easily by many. I am pro-Armstrong as I've said but im sick of posts like this, people cannot have any opinions bar positive ones about potential signings, and its not conducive to healthy debate when anyone who raises any concerns about signings have the line "trust Mowbray" stuffed down their throats. Dont understand the debate in regards to how to fit in Graham and Armstrong together either. Last season, Armstrong on the wing worked perfectly, the pair plus Dack worked brilliantly in that Grahams hold up and play with his back to goal left space for Armstrong to exploit from deep. Why change a winning formula?

Thats a really poor post chaddy. No need for it at all. He probably doubted us buying anyone because of our negligent owners. Surely you understand that. You keep telling people to trust the manager, but its a myth youve created, who said they dont trust him? The trust issues are solely with the owners. Anyway, really happy to see Armstrong back permanently if the reports are correct. What happened to Zach Clough
-
Isnt it under embargo, so frees under 10k?
-
That persons track record so far is 0% so best to ignore him. That said, why are you so pro signing Clough? We already have 3 players who are natural number 10s. Dack and Palmer, who are far better, and Rothwell who has also just signed. Clough I think has had injury problems and was rubbish at Forest and at Bolton last season The rumour has come from absolutely nowhere, fortunately I suspect it holds no truth.

Raya Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Smallwood Evans Bennett Dack Palmer Graham Subs: Leutwiler, Williams, Travis, Whittingham, Conway, Rothwell, Samuel Would start Palmer and then when he tires we can bring on Samuel or Conway dependant on the way the game is going. Would play Bell as whoever plays down the left they will come inside so he can give us an overlap. A game we shouldnt lose, hopefully get a win and start off a winnable run of opening games intending to keep the momentum from last year. -
You think theres truth in a totally random, innocious statement such as that?

Season Tickets 2018/19

The obvious reason for underwhelming sales figures is the price. -
Is he? Totally different player, cant play with his back to goal unlike Graham.

Just on Gallagher... 18 in 107 championship appearances is a poor goal return. Hes proven over a decent period of time that he cannot score enough goals to really be considered a capable Championship goalscorer. He also doesnt fit the role that you would want from a lone striker. He cant hold the ball up or play with his back to goal, he has neither the strength or the intelligence. He is amidst a group of strikers that Mowbray has had, Gallagher, Samuel, Antonsson and Armstrong, all of whom would probably see themselves as number 9's, and all of whom whilst Mowbray has flirted with the idea of playing them central, he has tended not to trust them long term in that position, clearly valuing Graham in that position and playing them wide instead as the wide forwards he professes to like so much, as all 4 are better facing the goal with their mobility than with their back to it. Mowbray clearly values the excellent hold up that Graham provides, albeit his body is on the wane with age. If I remember rightly, Gallagher scored quite a lot of his goals playing in a 4-4-2 formation under Coyle. He often had Graham doing the dirty work for him in a formation that otherwise was incredibly flawed, and he wouldnt have that luxury now that we have Palmer and specifically Dack, meaning that if Gallagher played in our team, you would think it would be with Dack off him as a lone striker, and for reasons that ive already explained, hes not suited to it. I also cannot see us affording him anyway. I would like to think that Mowbray has a few non ex-Rovers in his sights as well that can live up to the hype that seems to be building in regards to the funds apparently available, and the fact that players considered better than Armstrong and Chapman are in his sights. That said, @chaddyrovers always says to trust Mowbray. I do but sadly, I know never to think Venkys will spend any money until the ink has dried on the contract.
-
Do you think that Garner and Gallagher are better/should be on a higher list than Armstrong? I'd have to strongly disagree, wouldnt want either. And have either been linked apart from Gallagher by Nixon which doesnt count. Also, need to keep repeating in Mowbray we trust. No one said they dont, any distrust is towards the owners and it doesnt help to stop the myth that everyone doesnt trust him.
-
Wheres all this talk of Gallagher resurfaced from? I think its a case of absence making the heart grow fonder. He scored 11 goals which isnt too bad to be fair, and then only 6 (I think?) last season. Hes never going to be prolific and hes terrible as a focal point so I dont think he would compliment Dack. Ive seen people putting him in potential teams over Graham which is madness. Unless its on loan I cant see us bringing him back because he was linked with a 7m fee the other day, that might not be accurate but I imagine his fee would be far too much for us. Put it this way, if Armstrong is on list D, Gallagher is H or I.

Championship 2018-19
roversfan99 replied to Cherry Blue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Not too much can be taken at all from that. We had Raya, Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew, Williams, Graham and Bennett in the team still. But we had new manager bounce and crucially we played a lot of teams with nothing to play for. Im not saying we dont have reasons to be confident but theres no point reading into and extrapolating that little run of games. -
Wheres any suggestion of Garner from?
-
None of my post suggested or implied that I doubt Mowbray. My point suggesting he has bravely said that hes aiming to get players higher on the list than Armstrong and Chapman is a brave and bold statement. If he achieves this, then everyone will be saying how good his signings are, in that they will be better than players that would be very popular should they return, and if he doesnt, then he would have failed in the market. If he ends up with Armstrong and Chapman, then any disappointment that the higher quality targets hes mentioned havent joined will be totally overwhelmed by happiness to see 2 favourites back. (unless they are both loans, then fingers will be pointed at those above him) None of that is any way negative or doubting of him.
-
Find Mowbrays interview today to be very brave. Firstly, id love Armstrong in particular back, as ive said, permanently. Chapman im worried about his injuries so for me it would have to be a cheap deal but id be excited if he came back, albeit less so than Armstrong. Its brave in that hes said judge him at the end of the window. If our signings arent better than Armstrong and Chapman then hes put his head on the block saying what hes said, so fair play and I look forward to him acting on his word. I think it can be dangerous to get too obsessed with Championship experience. Experience in general, we have Mulgrew, Graham, Smallwood, Evans, Whittingham, Williams, Conway and Bennett so plenty. I dont get how the City kid fills this demand either. And his first 2 signings have very little combined Championship experience. Ive had this debate before with @chaddyrovers, it has to be worthwhile experience. In his attempted defence of Kent and Gallagher, he used Championship experience, even though in the main it is negative experience, Gallagher scoring very few goals and Kent having one average loan spell and one horrendous one. Dack has no Championship experience but that wouldnt stop most teams in the league taking him. I get that Armstrong has not performed at Championship level before but I feel like it is still somewhat of a safe choice in that we know he has pace, directness and goals which we need and works perfectly in tandem with Dack and Graham. But there is of course a semblance of risk which I acknowledge.

Mentions a tendency to run down blind alleys and hold on to the ball too much but its par for the course for the type of player he is so that doesnt concern me too much. He tries things and is exciting. The more worrying aspect is positionally. Says there was a struggle to fit him in the team with Vydra taking his favoured 10 role, the article also dispells the myth that hes equally capable wide. I just hope we can find a way to get both him and Dack in the starting 11 together.
-
Think thats a bit harsh, he scored 9 in 21 from the wing, and linked perfectly in tandem with Graham and Dack. Did far more than Chapman, albeit he got far more game time.
-
You keep mentioning McKay, dont you think you should trust Mowbray In all seriousness, he would have been a good signing for us, worth a gamble, good stats, but we arent in the same market as Swansea are. Theyve got parachute payments, they are one of the favourites to go back up, they are about to sell Mawson for 20m, they are about to spend 4m on Celina, yet they are signing City players who havent played senior football and Forest cast offs for pittance. Hardly a club that is desperate to get back.

Where will Rovers finish this season? : 16th Player of the Year : Bradley Dack Young Player of the Year: Jacob Davenport Top Goalscorer: Bradley Dack Championship Promoted : Stoke, Derby, West Brom Championship Relegated : Rotherham, Bolton, Birmingham Dark Horse : Preston Hey....Stranger things have happened : Both Wolves and Fulham to finish in the top 10. Miscellaneous : Jordan Rhodes to finish as Championship top scorer. -
Cant say id be concerned even if it was true. So raw and untested. Swansea going for players like Nmecha, Celina and McKay dont scream of promotion to me.
