  1. A few people reporting that we had money to spend, but we didn’t. If that’s the case, why did Mowbray say what he did about reinvesting money from Rothwell? Is he given a budget to spend as he sees fit? Was he given transfer funds but not a wage budget to go with it? Does the budget only stretch to players Venky’s personally approve? Why does it take forever for us to finalise deals? Something doesn’t add up. It’s too easy to blame it on Mowbray/Waggott’s incompetence, if they were that bad surely something would’ve been done about it by now. We are in far better shape on the pitch than off it.
  2. Only in the last couple of hours? There had been whispers about them for days, seems like setting ourselves up for failure if we only tried at the last minute.
  3. Don’t disagree with any of your post, but the bit in bold… I really doubt the existence of any long term planning, particularly with Mowbray being out of contract in the summer. Whose plan is it?
  4. I don’t think we are badly off for attacking options with Brereton, Khadra, Gallagher, Dolan, Hedges, JRC - not to mention Poveda and Markanday who we still have to pay, or Dack. Another would’ve been nice, but we’d struggle to bring in the target man everyone would like to sit on the bench and maybe get 10 minutes here and there.
  5. Warner Hahn has been released by Go Ahead Eagles. Never fulfilled his potential, but surely he’d be a better back up option than Pears? We can still sign free agents after tonight, right?
  6. Just seen your edit - glad to hear it! 👍👍
  7. Haven’t seen a price quoted anywhere, just meant in terms of possible interest.
  8. Well let’s hope they get over it quickly and leave Mowbray to get on with the job he is doing. Their famous pride has cost them a quarter of a billion quid and all of us a decade of misery and embarrassment. They can swallow it for once.
  9. Maybe the Brereton to Barcelona thing isn’t as far fetched as it seems? Mega clubs signing players for their image rights happens. They'd certainly be able to exploit his popularity in Chile, unlike us.
  10. I’ve said this at least twice before in the last 5 years, but the mens was the worst Royal Rumble in history. I enjoyed the Women’s, and thought that the use Mickie James was great - really refreshing how they acknowledged Impact and let her shine a bit. Lesnar and Lashley started like a house on fire, but it quickly deteriorated and the finish was rubbish. I’m so sick of dull, formulaic matches with a million false finishes, but that modern wrestling. Don’t get the Becky hype at all and think she ought to go and watch some Hulk Hogan matches to see how to have a match against a bigger opponent. Doudrop might be saddled with a shit name, but she’s improved dramatically from her PCW days. Only saving grace was the fact I put a bet on Shane to make the final 4 at 80/1 as soon as I saw he was rumoured to be in it. Didn’t make it worth staying up for though. WWE is in a terrible state, the few good things they do feel as though they have been seen a million times before. It’s worse than WCW in its death throes right now.
  11. I hope our players aren’t throwing in the towel as quickly as some of our fans have off the back of Bournemouth’s spending spree. Hopefully all their new signings have the same impact Wegerle, Sherwood and Duncan Shearer did for us in 1992 - fuck all!
  12. If you’d told me a month ago we’d come out of this window with our fist team intact and bring in Hedges and Zeefuik I’d have been delighted. A couple more would be great, but not the end of the world if we don’t. I’m more concerned about incoming bids from left field for the lads who have done so well getting us to where we are now.
  13. Always seems to be the case, our signings always seem to drag on. I expect it is to do with our convoluted processes and chain of command.
  14. Dear me. I hope the club do a bit of digging and issue some bans… mind you, often the gobbiest fans on social media don’t go to any games.
  15. It’s scandalous really that a Rovers player can get his head turned by bloody Bournemouth. Time to redress that and crack on with getting promoted. Giles plus another 1 or 2 in, with no first team outgoings would be a phenomenal window and give us every chance.
  16. Bournemouth appear to be doing exactly what we did in 1992. Bulking out their squad with anyone and everyone, targeting and sometimes getting players from promotion rivals. We finished 6th. Just.
  17. The worst possible scenario here is that we end up stuck with an unhappy and resented Rothwell, and we end up forcing through the sale of a different key player to finance deals we have lined up.
  18. I will post more after I’ve slept, but Vince, Bruce Prichard and Kevin Dunn need removing from their positions immediately.
  19. Yep. Vince is definitely regressing at this point.
  20. I hadn’t paid much attention to the other matches. Amazing how far Doudrop has come, wasn’t long ago she was regularly trying to coax passable matches out barely trained girls in Evoque for PCW!
  21. Took a fair bit of scrolling to find this thread! Royal Rumble time! I haven’t watched any WWE apart from the odd clip in ages and I’m completely out of the loop. I love the rumble though, and with it being a Saturday I’m going to attempt to stay up and watch. I’ve put a few bets on to keep it interesting. Hoping for some surprises! Big E looks to be a good shout, but I noticed earlier it’s in St Louis so Orton could be a good outside pick. Apparently Rousey is back, so can’t see beyond her in the womens.
  22. This bit is the worry for me. The entire structure behind the scenes seems really convoluted, and remits unclear. As much as I’ve criticised the pair of them in the past, Mowbray and Waggott have got me believing a return to the top flight is possible. Venky’s need to show them some trust and let them get on with trying to succeed in that. If Mowbray wants him gone, he should be gone, and he should be allowed to reinvest the funds.
  23. If there’s anything in the Rothwell to Brentford rumours I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Marcus Forss come on loan the other way. He’s HSH’s golden boy.
  24. Maybe Mowbray has been inspired by Dyche’s use of Cornet? If so, never admit it Tony! Pretty happy with that, all things considered.
  25. Alongside a Travis I definitely think so.
