  1. I have a Perspex shirt (XL) and an Anniversary shirt (XXL), both of which are in great nick. PM me if interested in buying.
  2. I have an older lightweight official Rovers jacket with the Rovers badge on the front and "Lonsdale" -our then sponsors- on the back. You can have it if you want? It is in very good condition.
  3. so have I, it is on the top of my office filing cabinet at work along with 2 more recent signed balls. Also have on my office wall: all team signed Tim Flowers goalie shirt from 94/95 all team signed "Lonsdale" shirt a Jim Smith signed 1st Day Cover from the 1975 Rovers Centenary Game of 2/11/1975 versus Bolton a signed Mark Hughes photo a signed shearer photo I also gave away a signed Rovers shirt to Ernesto's Barbers Shop on Richmond Terrace in Blackburn .....sorry, no offers!
  4. aye friday nite in the Original Ship Inn in Towngate , Leyland. 6th pint of Lion Ales Mild (electric pumps) and a tub of cockels...then a good fight with the North Enders outside Leyland Garage (Fords). them were the days....no cctv....cheap ale ....and plenty of loose birds. BRING BACK THE COCKLE MAN
  5. Yep, it was a Brewers Fayre until about 6 months back...smelled of chips and was full of drunken parents and wild kids who have all been turfed out. It is now run by the couple who had the Boatyard pub at Riley Green who are making a good go of it.
  6. The Royal Oak is my local: good food (try the specials board) and a great pint albeit expensive. I suggest that you try The Boars Head next to Crooks Land Rover place, which is a mile down the road from the Royal Oak towards Preston just past Hoghton Tower. It has been refurbished...great food and real good well kept beer (Thwaites bitter is £2-10 when it is £2-60 at the Royal Oak. It has been gaining a lot of trade at the expense of the Royal Oak and the Sirloin. Well worth a try. And CLB when you go into the Royal Oak I am normally sat in the right hand corner side of the bar next to the sign saying "Bull Sh*t Corner".
  7. I used to work behind the bar at Jerrys as the locals call it) when I was 16. The food now, and the couple who run it are dreadful. I would not buy a bag of crisps from those wasters. The Travellers Rest at Euxton, run by a Rovers fan is well worth a visit. the couple are ex-Riversiders and gave up going when others were being offered cheap tickets as it "was unfair".
  8. thanks to Longsiders, ffan and Zulu. You all have a lot of decency for your comments.
  9. what a senseless loss of live. what is football and our beloved Blackburn Rovers coming to? what about his girlfriend, parents, family and friends....absolutely dreadful. I was at the game but my mind was elsewhere as my young nephew died at 08.30 that morning, at least we had time to say our good-byes. I feel devastated this morning, and this includes for the family of this young man. this is secondary but what will this mean for our reputation (in the gutter? We need to reclaim our club from some of our so called fans), and will it impact on the team? But most important: RIP
  10. Ian thanks for this, I am at a meeting at Blackpool FC on Friday so might just nip along a make a bid....this looks an ace item.
  11. The Boars head in Hoghton (10 mins walk for me) is a place that has been garbage for years....however the landlord of The Boatyard just bought it (a snip at £450K I believe)has just done it up and the ale and food are to be recommended (Thwaites Bitter at £2-10p compared to £2-60p at my local The Royal Oak.) The food is much better and well recommended by the people who have tried it in the last week, it is trad English style. I expect that if the new ownership does not work they could always follow the trend and convert it to houses.
  12. Paul, I agree with your recommendation.Well worth a visit for good value food.
  13. no Paul....thank goodness, the bill was split between the 7 of us who are Directors of the Company...we were taking staff out for a "thank you" as mentioned by a poster before I would deffo try the Oyster Bar in the basement of New York's grand central station...a must do!! - the oysters (try the combo of West Coast and East Coast) are top notch. back to the North West I went to the Armenian Tavern by the Manchester Town Hall last night. £25 each which included a decent tip. It was lovely with great service.
  14. Went to TOM101 in Stockton Heath (just south of Warrington) last week. Great service even given there were 20 of us, I had fried pancetta followed by a USA burger, they do far more fancy stuff than burger though! Bill was £1050 for 20, but those not driving were pigging on the vino. I would strongly recommend
  15. Gord, hat did you reckon to the Duk? I have heard it is good but your expert opinion would assist. I am looking for a Preston based venue for a business meal next week, I would normally go to the Chop House but fancy a change.
  16. Benni was on a pre recorded interview on Radio Lancs this morning. He says that he wants to get fit enough to manage a full 90 minutes in games this coming season; says he was not fit enough to manage more than 80 last season. So, surprise surprise our Benni was not fit last season!!!! He is the only player that I have ever seen who got less fit the more games he played. He is one big useless lump of dog dirt. Ditch the MacDonalds Benni Boy.
  17. See above post. Back to it's best, as it should be at £120 for 2 people although that did include a little wine. The only down side was the waitress telling me that it is David Cameron's favourite Manchester eating place. And the place was packed out, which is a suprise for a Tuesday night.
  18. Off to the Yang Sing in Manchester tonight to take a couple of work contacts. Recently i've gone to the Little Yang Sing but thought I would give the original one a return visit and see if the food has improved. I'll give a report tomorrow; depending on how many pints I have in the Grey Horse beforehand.
  19. Went to Heathcotes for the Open Golf weekend on a corporate do; food was fantastic as was the range of unusual gins and also what I can remember of the golf. If you want a brill chinese then try the Top Wok at Leyland (opposite the lawnmover shop near to the golf course). absolutely fantastic, good value....the only downside is that they are a little too keen on refilling your glass. Also can't beat Lees chinese takeaway at fenni. Also try my local the Royal Oak at Riley Green for good english food....the lasses serving on also look rather nice in their black pants or skirts and white blouses!!
  20. it was dark at 05.30 this morning when I got up at my usual working day start time. winter is almost here...11 months of hell. But what the hell Rovers won on Saturday so let us ignore the rain and manky weather for a few days. I wonder how players like Samba, Mok, Benni, Bert and RSC can stand this polar like East Lancs weather: they would be far better off moving to London
  21. it went in the post tonight Mike
  22. San Carlo is great. Good food, decent service and almost resonable prices. Th down side is that Alex Ferguson frequents the place. Even has kosher kitchen!
  23. Brian I have one. PM me with your address and i'll put it in the post in a few days (next time I am in the office)...no charge, Mike
  24. no drummer at the Boro game yesterday and we had an almost full BBE Lower but no atmosphere; the place was dead. I would normally be the last to say this but: where is our drummer man? Is he lost, has he knackered his kit? PLease please bring him back; the BBE can't sing without this fantastic man.
  25. will someone ban this tosser off the MB please
