  1. I am off to the Top Floor at Smiths of Smithfield in London on Monday. It is run by some bloke called John Torode; has anyone been?
  2. I bought a wall mirror from there recently. I thought it expensive but the missus was dead set on it. I offered them cash for £30 less than the price.....and they accepted. Morals of the story are: 1. offer cash for a discount; 2. do not expect the missus to give you any of the discount earned.
  3. Yes, I have been. But only because someone else was paying. Giggsey was in there with a nice pair of blondes and Steve "rat face" Kean was in the corner supping red wine and Bud by himself. Seriously the food was very good..............and the wine. 8/10 excellent. 8/10
  4. The Chinese (sorry can't remember the name) next to The Guest House pub on Union Street off Lord Street. Try the pub.....great pint. Any 2nd hand used deals around that you can recommend please Gordon?
  5. you are right there hardly
  6. the Should of Mutton looks good. The only problem is that the Missus is a veggie and wheat intolerant which restricts where I am allowed to go.
  7. Yep, that is the old owners. It is worth a try again, it will be interesting to get your opinion on whether it has changed for the better or not.
  8. So so sad about Chris, mental health touches so many families yet has such a negative stigma. On the post from Jimmy I would be very keen. I did Kilimanjaro for Big Issue and raised a profit of £3,500. I have subsequently done Toubkal and Jebel Mgan the highest and second highest in North Africa. I may be a bit of an old fart who gets his months wrong occasionally but I have always wanted to do the Inca Trail (high Inca trail - see Exodus Travel) and would be up for this.
  9. Was that recently Vintage, or under the new ownership (last 3 months approx)? I am off to Sardo, an authentic Sardinian restaurant just off Tottenham Court Rd in London tomorrow night........one of my London favourites which I highly recommend.
  10. The Nabs Head link was from the previous owners and was an out-of-date web site. It was also celery and watercress soup not leek and celery. I asked the landlord last night!!
  11. Good stuff, tell us how you get on.....and look out for the signed Tim Flowers shirt in the back room. The Thwaites is also top form.
  12. Ha ha. I use to do Chorley Lynx until they folded. Even sponsored a couple of players. Would not do that at Bollewood Park!
  13. Agree.....a proper game, decent fans and few cheats compared to footie. Come on you Saints (sorry CLB).
  14. I have the same flag boss.....and was photographed on the tops of both Kilimanjaro and Toubkal with it!!
  15. Went to the Spar shop opposite the Old Oak earlier this week and they were encouraging customers to "come in to shop on Christmas Day as we are open for groceries, wine and beer!". God help us.
  16. Red Cat, Wheelton.....lovely nosh.
  17. 2 years ago this place was disgusting. No interest in going back unless they pay me and I have a food taster.
  18. Try the Nabs Head at Samlesbury Bottoms. Good Thwaites and really decent food (good pub grub) at a decent price.
  19. Lyon.....the good old days, got a freebie flight for that one via BA Airmiles. As for Jan I am sure she did a post some 6 months back. I wonder if she does the odd London based game.
  20. and Jan? God she was good.
  21. My goodness, just look at some of the great MB posters we have lost: Blue Phil, Billy Castell etc etc etc
  22. Anyone else going to Wembley for the Final?
  23. No , they only do peanuts and crisps !
  24. 3 very poor decisions by the ref including a double knock-on when he was in a perfect position to see. However regardless of the ref the best team on the day won.
  25. As a Leyland lad from the 70's I can assure you that whilst Leyland and Brig have always been PNE strongholds there has ALWAYS been a significant Rovers support. All my mates at Wellfield in Leyland were true blues in the 70's and 80's. ;-)
