  1. Lancs County Council will rightly get overruled. It could be a costly vote for which us LCC taxpayers will no doubt have to pick up the tab.
  2. I agree about Paul Heathcote, it is toss pot food. Chap I know was one of his chefs and left when Heathcote dumbed down to microwaves.
  3. "Ping" restaurants....is that how Heathcotes went? Microwave chicken?
  4. Not listened to Radio Rovers garbage for at least 2 years. The only benefit of the station is for those unable to get to Ewood such as the elderly and disabled. For that reason alone it should be kept.
  5. Brilliant game. Union is not even at the same level.
  6. I agree about the Royal Oak (my local) Paul. I had a fantastic ox cheek there a week or so ago. However the Clog and Billycock is also in good again. I went Friday luch and it was super as was the previous two visits; it was poor about 18 months ago but is back on form. The spring special menu was good. The Travellers Rest is run by a Rovers fan!!
  7. £1,300 including wine and a couple of Ardbegs. It was a special Birthday and she is worth it :-). Suppose I could have got myself a ST in the Rao's box for that.
  8. Took the Missus, and 3 of her relatives to Northcote for an evening meal, overnight and brekkie. Absolutely stunning meal.....as always.
  9. Oh dear. Sad news, I hope everyone was ok. More trade for the Golden Lion in Higher Wheelton perhaps?
  10. I go to Whitehaven 3 or 4 times per year. My mate (former Super League ref) is on the Board. A great ground and fans. The Club survives on money from nuclear industry sponsors.
  11. Sorry, missed the joke......it's that time of the month. Should have gone to Samlesbury Hall instead.
  12. Stuart, no it was at the Tower itself. There were lots of complaints on the day.
  13. Not quite a restaurant although they claim to sell "food"! Took my elderly Mother to Hoghton Tower yesterday for their "special" Mothers Day lunch. She was in tears. It was disgusting. The beef would have removed most peoples teeth, and could have been used to sole a boot, and the gravy as cold as snow. The service was appalling. The Roundheads should have finished the place off.
  14. You want to try this place Gordon, truly surreal. Take a camera. Some nice lady waitresses as well and non of them butch :-)
  15. Three times, normally taking USA work visitors. Great setting, 4/10 for food which is generally poor and overpriced. Try the Monroe about 100 yards down the road which is far far better. Love it. My wife and I go there. Did you clock the camp male waiter in tight shorts?
  16. Has anyone been to Marco Pierre White in Liverpool please? My team at work have persuaded me to take them out and chose it for me on the back of a promise I made a few months back......what a mug !!
  17. 'Twas a guest at the Skylon Lounge at the Royal,Festival Hall in London on Tuesday evening. Fantastic view over the Thames from our window table and equally super food and service to follow (scallops, mutton, chestnut cake). A decent wine list followed by my favourite Pedro Ximinez sherry to finish off a memorable meal. Sorry but I cannot stand Heathcotes any more. He dumbed down the quality across his chain in order to make more and more money (pity he didn't set enough aside to pay his tax). I don't like microwave food which is what Heathcotes do. A mere shadow of his former self and 2nd rate (if that) eateries to boot.
  18. a very good choice, don't forget to enjoy a beer or two
  19. Well done chaps. A jolly good win for our boys, and the Burnley dog eaters are losing. Night night.
  20. . He normally has a pre-match deep fried pizza followed by battered and deep fried mars bar for his pudding.
