  1. Paul, I agree with your recommendation.Well worth a visit for good value food.
  2. no Paul....thank goodness, the bill was split between the 7 of us who are Directors of the Company...we were taking staff out for a "thank you" as mentioned by a poster before I would deffo try the Oyster Bar in the basement of New York's grand central station...a must do!! - the oysters (try the combo of West Coast and East Coast) are top notch. back to the North West I went to the Armenian Tavern by the Manchester Town Hall last night. £25 each which included a decent tip. It was lovely with great service.
  3. Went to TOM101 in Stockton Heath (just south of Warrington) last week. Great service even given there were 20 of us, I had fried pancetta followed by a USA burger, they do far more fancy stuff than burger though! Bill was £1050 for 20, but those not driving were pigging on the vino. I would strongly recommend
  4. Gord, hat did you reckon to the Duk? I have heard it is good but your expert opinion would assist. I am looking for a Preston based venue for a business meal next week, I would normally go to the Chop House but fancy a change.
  5. Benni was on a pre recorded interview on Radio Lancs this morning. He says that he wants to get fit enough to manage a full 90 minutes in games this coming season; says he was not fit enough to manage more than 80 last season. So, surprise surprise our Benni was not fit last season!!!! He is the only player that I have ever seen who got less fit the more games he played. He is one big useless lump of dog dirt. Ditch the MacDonalds Benni Boy.
  6. See above post. Back to it's best, as it should be at £120 for 2 people although that did include a little wine. The only down side was the waitress telling me that it is David Cameron's favourite Manchester eating place. And the place was packed out, which is a suprise for a Tuesday night.
  7. Off to the Yang Sing in Manchester tonight to take a couple of work contacts. Recently i've gone to the Little Yang Sing but thought I would give the original one a return visit and see if the food has improved. I'll give a report tomorrow; depending on how many pints I have in the Grey Horse beforehand.
  8. Went to Heathcotes for the Open Golf weekend on a corporate do; food was fantastic as was the range of unusual gins and also what I can remember of the golf. If you want a brill chinese then try the Top Wok at Leyland (opposite the lawnmover shop near to the golf course). absolutely fantastic, good value....the only downside is that they are a little too keen on refilling your glass. Also can't beat Lees chinese takeaway at fenni. Also try my local the Royal Oak at Riley Green for good english food....the lasses serving on also look rather nice in their black pants or skirts and white blouses!!
  9. it was dark at 05.30 this morning when I got up at my usual working day start time. winter is almost here...11 months of hell. But what the hell Rovers won on Saturday so let us ignore the rain and manky weather for a few days. I wonder how players like Samba, Mok, Benni, Bert and RSC can stand this polar like East Lancs weather: they would be far better off moving to London
  10. San Carlo is great. Good food, decent service and almost resonable prices. Th down side is that Alex Ferguson frequents the place. Even has kosher kitchen!
  11. Brian I have one. PM me with your address and i'll put it in the post in a few days (next time I am in the office)...no charge, Mike
  12. no drummer at the Boro game yesterday and we had an almost full BBE Lower but no atmosphere; the place was dead. I would normally be the last to say this but: where is our drummer man? Is he lost, has he knackered his kit? PLease please bring him back; the BBE can't sing without this fantastic man.
  13. I prefer the 5.15 also. It is a great opportunity to get an extra 5 or 6 pints in before the game and then upset the rest of the old boys on my row in the JW when I get in just on kick-off and then need to get up for the odd jimmie or two.
  14. I bid £150 but failed to reach the reserve price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I lived in Wolverhampton until I was 5 before moving up to Euxton then Leyland. The "Doog" was my hero. My wall was full of his photos and I have his autograph. My all time great. RIP Doog.
  16. Benni has no loyalty to Rovers; and why should he, he is a journeyman footballer. Let Benni go, put play for the highest price; in this regard the WHU bid is good news and will help push the price up. Selling Benni is now an issue of making sure it is good business and getting the best £m's. Yes Benni is a great player but others will come along and Sparky has a knack of finding them. The sad part is that we will allways be a selling club; unless a rich yank from Lytham St Annes comes along!!!!
  17. 7pm last night. Dunny came over very well and as a true fan. Very impressed with the pie boy.
  18. sorry ABBS but the amount of "wonga" Neill is on it is him who will have the last laugh.
  19. this was the best ever day following following Rovers; forget Cardiff, forget the play offs versus leicester this was the one.
  20. i'll give you £20 for the programme if that is of interest?
  21. It's a bad do when we cannot sell out for a NW derby on Boxing day against Liverpool; a side who bring 7K to the Darwen End and many more elsewhere in the ground. We sold out v a very bad Sunderland last season...but not Liverpool this season!!!
  22. we should email this link to John Williams and Bob Coar; see if they care?
  23. and the masses of empty seats at Villa v Notlob makes Ewood look full in comparison; how many Notlob fans, about 100?
