[Archived] 2005/6 Season Ticket Sales
Mike Graham replied to Mike Graham's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
In the main the responses to this thraed show that Rovers fans care about the situation. As said earlier we will have our fan base furter stifled with the Latics and possibly PNE going up, just think of all the development work PNE are doing in Leyland which was good fertile groud for us for a few years following years of Preston supporting domination. I also see the shift in support in the area where I live (Hoghton) which has seen a distinct shift from Rovers to Preston and nearby areas such as Chorley and Wheelton which have moved from Rovers to Bolton. Keep the ideas rolling, and lets share them with J Williams in a positive way. -
I realise the subject of "gates" and ST sales has been covered in a number of different threads. My idea is that we focus on a single thread and present ideas to the Club. I am concerned that gates and ST sales are in freefall. I personally know of many who did not renew last season; they have not become occasional supporters, they do not bother at all. The truth is that we have lost 4000 regular fans...this cannot continue without hitting the club...but we have the old problem of fans will not come and watch crap, which is what we have been exposed to for the last couple of seasons. I believe that John Williams has been radical and open-minded in terms of ideas to retain and build ST sales; without his initiatives the situation would have been worse. I am fed up of the stories of we are a small town club, local support is great despite the "big fish" around us. The fact is that we had far greater support and this support is diminishing year by year. I have no doubt we will see a drop in ST's for next season; the question is what, if anything, can we do about it.

Just so happened to arrange a meeting on Tuesday afternoon near Gloucester which means i'll be passing the Hawthornes on the way back. Can anyone remember the game in 75/76 away at WBA (2-2, Faz and Parkes for us) when we got showered with coins for 90mins. I still have one taped tp a programme and picked up enough glitter to buy pudding and chips on the way back!! -

Good idea we could arrange a sing a long outside their hotel, when it's kicking out time in the pubs and clubs. Anybody know were they are staying??? according to the Sunday Sport Arsenal are at the Travelodge at Newport. -

Anyone else stopping in Barry on Friday night, I'm there with a group of Liverpool based Blues. -
It is probably cheaper and easier to join you out in Tas than going to Cardiff. Don't forget the celebratory beers: 1,2,3 etc...

IQ test anyday. The point I was making is that as part of my job I visit a number of disaster zones and "trouble" areas, and that Burnley is on a par with many of these. I am sorry if you find me comments distateful but they obviously hit a sore point. ps. Will the game be on Ararbic TV in Dubai next week...i'll have to watch it beachside.

I have only set foot in the town of t'bas****s very rarely: yesterday, 2000 and 1977 being the last 3 occasions. The striking image as you travel thru the area is that it is "the town that time left behind". I've been to a few dumps and desolate areas over the years but this place is the dumps being on a par with the worst such as Gaza Strip, Lagos and more recently Banda Aceh. As for the residents of said town a whole range of adjectives come to mind: simple; inbreds; animal like ;moronic etc etc. The most apt description is sub-human. we must look to build a border wall aroud the hovel, with Israeli style passport control.
