  1. Bennett and Williams as our full backs frighten me. However, there have been some long shots coming in at Cheltenham this week so let the madness continue. Gone for Rovers' win at 16/5 and by 3-2 at 58/1. Chateaubriand and a fine red, or two, tonight should Rovers win today!
  2. Think Mowbray is getting his excuses in early as I fear we are in for a right mullering. How the feck can Chapman not be ready for at least 45 minutes 1st team action? Just hope Armstrong does not start this match. I thought his performance against Wigan was awful - the lad, IMO, simply has no touch whatsoever. Hope someone has had a serious conversation with Williams and explained to him that he is meant to pass a ball to one of his team mates and not, IMO, almost constantly to the opposition or out of play. I hope Mowbray is coming to the end of his reign as fed-up of watching what I think is awful football with no game plan.
  3. Well that was a throw back to last season - a League One match! Wow, Wigan are bad and if we couldn't have beaten that lot. Three nil is a tad misleading - we got a soft penalty and two gifts from Wigan. A bizarre start with Cook out five minutes before the teams emerged - can't recall having seen that before, a manager leaving his team in the changing rooms. Almost equally bizarre was Benson on the pitch awaiting Raya for a warm-up before the second half began - Raya leisurely emerged after Benson had been on the pitch for I guess two minutes and the warm up was restricted to just 3 shots / throws at Raya. Indiscipline or lack of respect on Raya's behalf? As for the game itself - well Magloire was okay but not really tested by Wigan. Not sure whether we were playing 3 or 4 at the back! Williams' distribution is truly awful. Didn't think Travis and Reed made the most of their opportunity and I was a bit disappointed with both. I felt that for most of the match they played too deep. As for Armstrong, what an appalling touch. Think he's a lad with pace but little else. Too much hoofball and we didn't get forward in numbers quickly enough to support Graham in the box. We stopped the rot but I think it was pretty poor stuff and there will be far more difficult tests ahead.
  4. Forget any past alleged shenanigans and focus on football matters. Where we now are with Mowbray in terms of results, performances and development is, IMO, no better than where we were under Kean / C o y l e. Values count for nothing if you end up running out to play your football at Pleasington.
  5. Did Kean ever have a run where we got only 1 point in 7 league games? IMO, as a unit, we look a disorganised shambles matching the worse of Kean and C o y l e - were we ever as bad defensively under those two? You cannot disguise the fact that there have been some real abysmal performances this season and not just recently. All teams lose games but I think the manner of some of our defeats has been horrific. Don't give a feck about whether Mowbray is likeable or his purported values. I pay my money to be entertained by good football and see some decent results and also to see the club develop. I don't buy the bullsh1t and platitudes that, IMO, have become Mowbray's stock-in-trade.
  6. Largely irrelevant. Most would choose caviar over marmite. A manager's job is to get results and develop the club in all footballing matters. IMO, Mowbray is failing badly now.
  7. Where we are now, IMO, the name on the manager's door could well read either Kean or C o y l e. I think, as a football manager, Mowbray is now failing to tick the boxes in almost all areas.
  8. To me, he needs to lose weight and, IMO, is some way short of the fitness level required. I would be staggered if any club paid the often quoted £15m or even £20m. IMO, he looks far from a PL player and based on recent performances, I would think his value is falling sharply by the game.
  9. I'd try Brereton and Graham as a pair in a 442. As for Magloire, Raya, Rodwell, Williams, Mulgrew, Bell etc are all tried but hardly trusted with all their mistakes which have cost us. The lad Magloire can hardly be any worse.
  10. Unbelievable. Keanesque - reminiscent of the dew on the grass.
  11. As I've said before, my Rovers' betting is all a bit of fun - if I win, it gets spent on some goodies, if i lose, it's just a 'Tony shrug'. The real money on betting is earned through 'sports trading' and there are big bucks to be made there dependent upon how much time you spend on it. It's a bit of a hobby for me and a couple of hours a week is more than worthwhile ?
  12. Pressure is mounting on Wigan. A late defeat at Reading, Ewood derby on Tuesday and Bolton at the weekend. Pressure doesn't seem to effect Rovers as, IMO, we are just generally shite. An early moment of magic from Dack, we take the lead, our lads get a bit interested, Wigan's bottle goes and it will be game over. We have to win a game at some point - we even won games under Kean and C o y l e! Going for a Rovers' win by the odd goal, say 3-2 which is available at 33/1.
  13. So, Rodwell injured, Mulgrew injured, who do you play there - Williams instead of Nyambe!? Options very limited at the moment.
  14. Think you need to take more water with it - Bennett is NOT in that back four. Who would you play at right back instead of Conway - Bennett who has been roasted time and time again there this season!?
  15. Who else to you play at right back - Bennett? I've maDE IT clear that I haven't seen Brereton offer anything yet but as one of two next to Graham, who knows? He certainly can't be any less effective than what he's been so far. Think my midfield four would offer more energy, pace, creativity than anything we've seen from Mowbray's turgid lot.
  16. I am totally fed up with all the soundbites, platitudes and b 0 l l 0 c k s that I think Mowbray offers. Feck his purported values, I want an organised team that plays attractive football, entertains, gets decent results and can be seen to be progressing. I challenge anyone to articulate a case for Mowbray remaining as Rovers' manager.
  17. Agree, sadly, I suspect we will not see Mowbray 'throw the kids into this type of match'. Would think Mulgrew will be missing if it's his hamstring. I would axe Raya, Williams, Smallwood and Dack. I was shocked by Dack's appearance today - to me, he's carrying too much timber and looks unfit. We need to be bold and get at Wigan from the start. Let's face it, we've feck all to lose and things can hardly get worse. My team: Leutwiler / Conway, Nyambe, Magloire, Bell / Rothwell, REED, Travis, Chapman / Brereton, Graham At least we'd have a bit of energy, pace and creativity.
  18. Mowbray in Thursday's LT: “Brereton will be on the bench as he has been recently. I have had a good chat with him recently,” Mowbray said of the teenager who has been an unused substitutes in the last two matches. “He’s a young boy with amazing talent, we have to be patient" Amazing talents command a place in a starting eleven and are game changers because they have 'amazing talent'. I am totally fed up with all the soundbites, platitudes and b 0 l l 0 c k s that I think Mowbray offers. Feck his purported values, I want an organised team that plays attractive football, entertains, gets decent results and can be seen to be progressing. I defy anyone to articulate a case for Mowbray remaining as Rovers' manager.
  19. What rubbish that was. No idea what formation Mowbray went with - certainly went out of window after 15 minutes with Bennett moving to his second of about six positions throughout the game!!! First 20 minutes, PNE looked slicker and a much better footballing unit, tore our left flank to pieces and bingo, 1-0 with a very good finish. For most part of the match we looked slow, pedantic and clueless. Yet again, we looked two yards off the pace everywhere on the park - I think we are physically and mentally unfit. Williams and Smallwood - they absolutely do my head in. IMO, League 1 footballers at best. I think Dack gets slower by the game (he does need to shed some timber). Felt sorry for Graham, who I think was our best player by a country mile, and Reed, again played out of position and taken off whilst Smallwood remains at the hub of the team. Think Mowbray got it all wrong yet again - wrong players, wrong tactics and in the main, dire and unexciting football. Our £7million+ man, described just yesterday by Mowbray in the LT as 'having amazing talent' remained rooted to the bench when we needed a goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really have had enough of Mowbray's soundbites and values. I think he talks b 0 l l 0 c k s and the club is not progressing but regressing. Think Mowbray's time is well and truly up - needs to go NOW. The alarm bells are screaming with just 1 point from 7 games and I actually think we are performing worse than when we were relegated two seasons ago.
  20. You would think the Preston win is a licence to print money! However, we know all about the vagaries of football! Therefore gone for Rovers' win at 19/10 with a 3-2 score at 37/1. Looking forward to this one and a cracking atmosphere - it will be nice to see Ewood with approaching 20,000 on again.
  21. We simply should not be signing footballers who aren't physically fit to give us 90 minutes. I think the Chapman situation borders on farcical. This is a player who was fit enough to turn out for Middlesbrough (and Pulis is a stickler for fitness and discipline) in a Jan. FA Cup tie and has now had almost six weeks with Rovers (effectively a pre season!) yet Mowbray doesn't think he's ready! It's not as though we are a team of supreme athletes who run the opposition into the ground every game. I think it's just more b 0 l l 0 c k s from Mowbray and IMO, his management of Brereton and Chapman is beyond rational explanation and offers further evidence as to why he is not the man for Rovers.
  22. Fear for Saturday is PNE with their huge following will be far more up for it than us. Not knocking their support as some on here have as when did we last take 7,500+ away for a league game. Mixed emotions for me this game as strong family connections with Preston. See there's more, IMO, Mowbray drivel about Brereton in the LT: “He’s a young boy with amazing talent, we have to be patient" Footballers with amazing talent Mowbray command a place in the starting eleven, unsurprisingly, because of their amazing talent !!! I think our manager is a clown and sooner he's gone the better.
  23. Our family season ticket days are a thing of the past. Could be tempted again by a young, dynamic and innovative manager who plays exciting and attractive football.
  24. In the Clog a few days ago. Service good and attentive, food well presented and of good quality. Aspinall has always been decent under B & P. Not been in Three Fishes for a number of years now.
  25. The cupboard is almost bare! Nearly a quarter of the season to go but for me Graham's the only contender. Tells you all you need to know about how poor our team is and how poor our season has been.
