[Archived] Rovers 3 Middlesbrough 2
Nayef replied to rog of the rovers's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Can I just echo Montfort's post regarding Bellamy's first goal? I was almost sure that Bellamy would lay the ball to Savage but instead out of nowhere he curled one in. And you know it wasn't a one-off as he scored another beauty to win the match (unlike Emerton's belter vs Charlton at Ewood where I still wonder how Emerton managed to conjure that out of nowhere). Man, today I had a bit of a rude awakening. Bought the Times as usual and checked the football pages and in the Premiership section, they had a feature on the football related events on a certain date in history. Today's was February 28th 1953. The article started by mentioning the shock of the day was Everton who were languishing in the bottom half of the Second Division beating Aston Villa of the First in the FA Cup. It went on to to explain how Birmingham employed dirty strong arm tactics vs Spurs. The league table was also published and I was curious to see who was top of the league at that time. I almost spat my coffee out. Burnley Monkeys. -

We live to fight another day. Or at least I have having had to flee the pub in tottenham after stating some uncomfortable truths about Spurs fans after the match. But what a performance!! Rovers - you did me proud. Some practice needed in playing the final ball but otherwise a consistent team performance. Reid's booking was une blague. -
[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
Nayef replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
"It is a stunning transformation from the chaos at the start of the Hughes era, which even saw the club subside 4-0 at home to Middlesbrough." i WAS ON THE TRAIN FROM CARCASSONNE TO BIARRITZ BACK IN sEPTEMBER WHEN (friggin caps lock) a mate texted me the result from Ewood. "Rovers 0 Souness 3. Ha ha!! Sandcastle Ewood!" And I thought to myself "what a surprise. I know what sort of season we're in for. Yet another struggle to avoid the drop." And despite the next result which lifted me somewhat temporarily, not once did I contemplate being 5th in the table in March! Funny how life springs surprises. Well done Mark Hughes. Please don't leave us for a long time yet! Liverpool and Chelsea still have to visit Fortress Ewood... -

Says Lawro of this weekend's game at the Valley: 'It should be a Charlton home win as the Addicks' form has improved form of late, particularly their home form. Villa on the road have not been great defensively.' Aston Villa are unbeaten away from home since October, and have only conceded one away goal this year. Top stuff. Will make my friday pint taste that little bit better. -

I actually don't know what to predict for this match. Our home form compared to their away form suggests a spanking for the arse. But then we are blackburn rovers, masters of shooting ourselves in the foot. Plus there's the referee factor where results are turned on their head by one or two controversial decisions which seem to go against us (hand of ped is not enough to balance out the reds we received from puppet halsey). I get most predictions wrong anyway. Blackburn 0 Arsenal 1 pen. won by diving -
It's posts like that that ensure he does score. just like the recent thread entitled Heaven which appeared on this mB straight after the Man U win. Jinx or what. Blackburn 0 Sunderland 2 J. Stead and A.N. Other Back to being Sandcastle Ewood.

Be they at the stadium or avidly hooked on teletext in some remote part of the world, this post probably epitomised Rovers fans everywhere at that moment in time.

When you wrote "come out of the closet" in the title, I thought this thread belonged in ICBINF...

Exactly. Some people really need to learn the lesson the hard way. -

Well apparently somebody tipped Lawrensen off about the fact that whenever he predicts a negative result regarding the Rovers, we go on to win. So the "shrewd" man has gone in for a Rovers win in the hope that the reverse happens. Preston connard de merde. -

Shearer a dead cert to score from a penalty. Then Graeme Souness's "personal blue devil" Lady luck arrives and tries her best to giftwrap the win to Rovers ...but she's up against for than she can handle in shefki's finishing skills and despite her efforts, Rovers can only manage one goal. Newcastle 1 Blackburn 1 Shearer pen 36 Dickov 82 -

From the BBC: "Worse was to follow soon after for Vaz Te, as he embarrassingly fell over with an open goal and the ball at his feet after rounding keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen." Man, I'd be embarrassed if I was anywhere near rounding my own keeper. Well done to the referee. Yet another attention seeker who felt a bit pressured from Allardyce to give a string of fouls against us and a joke booking for one of our players (Dickov?)

There's only one F in shefki. there's also only one F in "Friggin crap". -
Blackburn 1 Bolton 2 Savage scores the first before Nolan equalises. With time running out and 1-1 the likely score, Walrus takes off Pie Face and brings on... ...Matt Jansen who goes on to score the winner and quietly goes back to the dressing room embarrassed.

I just think it's too ironic that he signs for a team that will play at Ewood Park the next day. If he comes on as a sub, it's hard to shake off the suspicion that he'll score against us... -

Ferguson along with every single Man U fan will be smiling very gleefully if Kuqi is in the team for the second leg. It's not often an Ipswich fan laughs at my team but two of them did last night. -
You know you're an Admin or a Mod when: 1. You write the word "bolloc.ks" and it appears clearly on your post 2. Someone quotes you and that word is then hashed out

I had to laugh too. The guy is rapidly proving to be incompetent at this level.
