What a thoroughly entertaining game of football for a Boxing Day. Talking to a Middlesbrough fan before the game and he said he was dreading it as we always seem to get a result up there. I thought it was a really good team performance with everyone making a contribution. Pears, in the first half in particular, made some decent saves. Perhaps the competition that Toth brings is making his raise his game. Having two 'keepers fighting for the number one spot can only be a good thing. The defence proved excellent throughout. These sort of games bring out the best in Miller and McLoughlin whilst young Pratt is really growing into the role of being a first team player. Litherland gave another promising performance before he began to tire late in the game and Hedges again proved that wing-back is a position he does really well. The man of the match for me was Tronstad who was outstanding in midfield. I have to say that Baradji gave a superb performance when he came on and these two could be a really impressive midfield partnership. Baradji has all the attributes to become an outstanding midfield players - pace, power, quick feet and a wonderful eye for a pass. Gestede and his team deserve a lot of praise for finding this guy. Morishita put in his usual energetic display until injured - yet another injury that I suspect will keep a player out for some time. I can't remember a season when we've had so many long term injuries to senior players. Cantwell is starting to perform in a way which we haven't seen consistently since he arrived. He seems far more motivated and is leading by example. Up front Yuki was non-stop again. The energy and fitness levels of this guy are amazing. He never gives defenders a any rest. Hendriksson, although not a natural striker, worked hard to keep the pressure on the home defence but with Gudjohnsen out long term, we badly need another partner for Yuki. All in all it was another good day out at the Riverside Stadium - my least favourite away ground and yet one where we always seem to come away with something! -

Just done a comparison of incomings and outgoings to see how people think we have ended up stronger or not after the summer window. Considering the money spent overall I think it's pretty favourable though I'm sure others will disagree One thing it has certainly done is bring the average age down considerably -

Yes, but that same little or no money may also get you a De Neve -

They would pretty much need to be a free to be much cheaper ! Seriously though he has proved that quality is available for little or no money with the right recruitment. -

Average just over 30. Thats what he does. Its just about acceptable in low scoring games. -

I stayed up all night. Very weird game. Well done England on the consolation win. Pleased for the bowlers who at last found their length. -

Is that code for "sell Alebiosu and replace him with someone cheaper?" 😉 -

I agree with you on getting a RWB, Litherland isn't the long term solution but I think they will be looking at a LWB, CB (O'Riordan) and a striker. I think they'll just stick with Litherland until Alebiosu is back and address the situation in the summer. -
The Aynsley Pears depreciation thread.

Been pleasantly surprised and relieved by Pears' performances and his hair looks good too. Early on there were a couple of goals conceded Toth would have got to but I suspect Toth is going to have a tough time displacing him. I hope Michalsky gets a chance to redeem his Bradford howler when we go to Hull. -

No idea what we are recruiting for this January. Avoiding relegation? A play off push? Injury cover? Next summer's transition? Agents' benevolence fund? -

It's no coincidence that you're in a gang of one on this; you're wrong. Tronstad is a very good player at this level - certainly a lot better than Travis. Anyway I didn't catch all of yesterday's game due to Boxing Day family commitments, but I was really impressed with what I saw of Baradji again. Looks the real deal so far and explains why we were keen to take him, injury and all. Good point away to 2nd/3rd in the league. -
Sheffield Wednesday are still selling tickets online to there own fans. So why would they say to Rovers, you need to take these off sale 6 days before the game? Think about it for just a minute, and that will tell you who's decision it was.

You would expect majority of the work would be bringing in players for the under 21/18 whilst one of two might be first team squad. -
There’s little to celebrate and the match went exactly as predicted with England finally turning up when it doesn’t matter and the series is lost England could well go on to win the last Test too as I stated but that will not hide the fact that multiple failures by the management have led to another disastrous and embarrassing campaign MCullum’s time is up and so is that of some of the players

That number may have increased https://www.linkedin.com/in/raphael-scherrer-aa3611b1/ Responsible for next generation recruitment (U18-U23) in Europe and Africa Whilst that would mainly be academy recruitment, there does look to be some overlap -

no action will be taken by the FA just like it wasn't with Ben Whiteman's reckless tackle. The ref clearly seen the tackle and what type of tackle it was yet only given a yellow -

That's what my post is about what we need which is moving on Gueye, Carter, Garrett(sadly), Tyjon(cos he won't sign a pro contract), De Neve on loan/permanent and one of Ribeiro or Pickering leaving the other as back up to Hedges as LWB(I would keep Pickering personally and let Ribeiro go sadly) That's give you 4 spots to bring new signings and register them if over 21. A striker is our must urgent need, a centre back and right wing back. He could play the focus point role up front like Gudjohnsen did, he is match fit and knows this league. We need players who won't need much adaption time. That's the type of signings we need, looking overseas will probably be cheaper but will they be ready unless they have experience of playing in England Is the committee doing the transfer negotiations? of course not, That's what Gestede's job is the head of football operations, That's is where your point above is wrong and you clearly don't understand how football works in you think a transfer committee is doing football transfers negotiations. We have 4 people on a committee/group who decide on transfers in Ismael, Gestede, Cairney and Owen.
