The fact that it's Bruce Springsteen

Our previous head of consumer came into the club, initially as head of marketing. At 24. He had been a marketing manager at Bournemouth before that, having worked his way up from intern in 4 years. Immediately before his internship, he was working hospitality at a golf club. There will be hordes of applicants for the job. I’m genuinely considering applying myself (I’m not qualified) to see how stringent the process is.

2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂
Bethnal replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Like everyone, I’m concerned/mortified thinking where the squad might be on 2nd September. But just like a car crash, the overwhelming feeling I’ve got is morbid curiosity. We have virtually no prize assets that can bring in significant cash, we very likely are living hand to mouth and we have a manager that stated he wanted most of the transfer business done by the first day of preseason. We have possibly the least-experienced staff (all the way through the club) we’ve ever had, to make it happen. Whatever we think is going to happen, I reckon what actually happens will be orders of magnitude more batshit. -

Exactly. The club I grew up supporting ceased to exist in November 2010. -
Yes it's called self respect. Although I'd gladly take the job at Burnley, something has to be done to restore things to equilibrium with them a division or two below us.

2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂

I don't think he last that long, mid October for me. -
I don't recall Broughton saying we've made him a great offer it's up to him now etc etc, if i'm right he just said the whole thing is on hold because Dolan is changing agent but i expect it to be concluded in December (2023). And that was it i don't think they've tried very hard at all to keep him because like other players they couldn't at that point commit to a good long term contract. Maybe Gestede has made a big last ditch attempt but it's nothing more than a token gesture now and all along i think knowing what we know of the penny wise pound foolish Suhail he'll have been eyeing compo and the chance to swerve a 15k a week commitment.

https://www.lostalbums.net/ Bruce doing his lost songs and lost albums, following in Dylans footsteps here, but whats not to like.
-
Entirely plausible but the name of the game for players is make as much as you can as quick as you can, short career and all that so there is no way he's snubbing 2/3/400k in lost money to gamble on a big signing on fee 2 years later. I just cannot for the life of me see that happening and there'd be no need for it either you'd just instruct your agent to come up with something that suited both parties and take the instant pay rise. What if he's best pals with Nyambe ? Surely he'd get the opposite advice. There will always be players who slip away for nowt but it's like it's part of model here now its happened that much. There are a couple of common denominators and they hold ultimate responsibility for some of it if not all.

I’d DEFINITELY take the Burnley CEO gig…😉
-
I genuinely think the Celtic and Rangers fans would eat him alive, but he'd earn a fair whack.
-
Again, Broughton tried to re-up him and Dolan billy-big-balled him. He's left a lot of money on the table the last two years because he's backed himself to do better. Let's see how it plays out for him.
-
If his decision making was better I'd be happy with 7 from a wide man with Dolan's skill set. He works his socks off and can hold up the ball, but he doesn't stretch the field. Hedges is a L1 player at best.
-
I'd have too much professional pride and respect for myself to even do that at Burnley.
-
Seen Norwich, Rangers and Celtic linked with Dolan.
-
My theory is Dolan is relatively close with BBD, Lenihan, Rothwell and discussed the huge financial upside on going on a free with them. Decided hed rather go for that rather than say an extra 3k-4k a week... Over two years 4k a week is about 400k. He might be able to get a 1M signing fee plus a much higher salary on a free. The issue is we've created the case studies to make going on a free almost the sensible choice for any aspirational player.

Travis could do better than Derby I think. Could see one of the relegated prem teams going for him. Hes had a great season, I will be very surprised if we dont get bids. -
Bruce Springsteen night on BBC 2 tonight.

I don't think they'll spend money on Trav and he'll be looking for a long term deal as well so they'll not tie that type of brass up in him i don't think. Batth i think that will happen, not sure about Weimann at his age and injury status he'd be daft to walk away from here. -

Yeah, I can definitely see Batth going there....maybe Travis, hard to tell yet. Sounds like they're also keen on a Weimann reunion. I'm not convinced Derby will be pushing top 6 next season. I think they'll be in that middle group at best with the likes of Swansea, Millwall, Stoke, etc. If Batth, Weimann and Travis are their targets then that reads as mid table consolidation to me, and next season will arguably be the toughest championship for attempting to get top 6.
