  1. Past hour
  2. I'm not sure I'd agree the Championship is a step lower than the Belgian league. It has some clubs that are better than Championship level, but a few clubs that would likely be more like League One standard.
  3. Hey mister, al watch yer motor for a pound!!
  4. Things could have got better if managers had been backed and then you would have had your sense of hope and entertainment. Those players you mention were taking us to that promotion push, just needed backing. Things did seem to be getting better under JDT (entertaining too) but matters off the pitch put paid to that. Agreed, that it is going to be fun (at least initially) but not so sure that if it doesn't work, we will be in just the same position as previously. Fewer assets to sell off?
  5. That name change to Derby Rovers is pending.
  6. It's important to understand that the step up from the Danish league to Belgian league is quite big. He'll of gained good experience for the championship which is probably a step lower so hopefully he will perform. What he's achieved at his age is pretty impressive.
  7. I was never comfortable with his attitude to be honest and that's what i mean by not wanting another like that but i know nowt about this guy to be fair. Of course if they are scoring and their confidence is high then nobody cares about attitude the arrogance is working for you. When it's backs to the wall as it often is and those lesser players around you are having a tough time then the onus is on to step it up and lead by example. The Siggy types, fit or not, don't do that.
  8. Siggy just clearly couldn't handle the physical side of the English game, this lad looks more of a unit though so fingers crossed. Im thinking he'll be like Gueye but with brains and better technique. I also wouldn't be suprised to see Leonard and Gueye leave before the window shuts now and another forward come in Personally id be sad to see Gueye leave though, I think he's a great option to have on the bench(in the squad) But feel he's probably on too high a wage to just be a bench warmer
  9. Im not sure about this one. He seems to have really struggled in the Belgian league and scored far fewer than Gueye who hasnt proved to be good enough. His record in general doesnt suggest a goalscorer. It feels like a punt although for the fees we are able to offer, I appreciate that it is particularly difficult to sign a striker compared to other positions as that position is the hardest and dearest to sign. There are things to cling on to. Neither his record for 1 season in Denmark nor his international record are brilliant but they are certainly much healthier. And he is also still quite young so fair to assume hes not at at his peak, and looking at videos, he seems to have attributes we can work with. His finishes arent scruffy (like the video of Gueye's were) and he strikes a ball cleanly, and also physically seems quite strong and he isnt slow. Who is dad is is fairly irrelevant. And to clarify, I am NOT writing him off. I am sure this post will attract people calling me out as negative as you arent allowed to point out concerns. Im just less convinced at this stage than I was when we signed some of the other players that we have. Morishita for example, another I had not seen before, I think theres far more on paper to be excited about.
  10. Not sure he's going to love being called Scandinavian. We've had a hit or miss experience with Nordic players, although there have been some great ones at the club (MGP, Berg) and some very serviceable ones (Tronstad, Nils-Eric Johansson). Overall, Nordic players do seem to settle well in England, so it's a good place to be sourcing players from. Siggurdson signed here under unusual circumstances, was barely used in the right way, and was consistently injured. There was a good player there, and I don't think he was just here for the money.
  11. Off the main roads you could park on streets around Mill Hill, which is 10-15 mins walk from ground. Handy if you're coming off M6 down Buncer Lane, through lights onto Spring Lane then turn right after Havelock Inn just befor you go under railway bridge, first left (under smaill railway bridge, first right, third left along Hertford Street then turn left.
  12. I might be in a minority but i don't want to see another Siggy here for the money and to manage his International career. Scandi players are very hit and miss.
  13. It was a fairly high fee (ยฃ2.5M ish I think with a sell on..think they also got something for him being capped) for someone who at the time had not really shown he could perform at Championship level But all in all, he performed beyond the expectations of anyone, and both clubs probably did much better financially out of his purchase & sale than was expected. It's why it is always worth including international cap bonuses, sell ons etc just in case
  14. If we beat them they're really set up for a Rovers rejects chant.
  15. Gรธran Sorloth was good - Alexander Sรธrloth is good, Patrick Kluivert was good - Justin Kluivert is good, Sergio Conceicao was good - Francisco Conceicao is good. this is bound to be a success
  16. Ultimately, I follow this football club for entertainment. This transfer window may turn out to be awful. We will only truly be able to assess that over the next season or two. But, in the very least, it is delivering entertainment and a sense of hope that things might get better. My biggest frustration in following this club over the last few years has been the sense of apathy that has set in, the loss of any sense of adventure, and the fundamental belief that the club isn't even trying to get better. Yes, the subtext for these overhauls is the desire to reduce the wage bill (probably not a terrible idea) and to get rid of some more disruptive team leaders (possibly a bad idea, possibly a good one), but at least it is giving me hope, albeit potentially briefly, that things could change. Some of these signings could be great. They could be the difference makers we have sorely missed. Was Travis a good Championship player? Yes. Should we have shipped him out? Probably not. But he also wasn't going to be the central figure and difference maker in a promotion push. We know we've lacked pace, creativity, and goalscoring. Maybe these new signings will bring that. And maybe they won't. But if they don't, then we are just in the same position that we were 2 months ago, just with a different set of faces. In the meantime, I can at least live off of that hope. If only for a little bit.
  17. Finally a sensible post and one that alludes to involvement of those we donโ€™t mention still and agents
  18. Did he? Feel like we did alright on that deal tbf.
  19. To be fair, we've finished one place shy of the playoffs twice in three seasons and we've had multiple managers begging for reinforcements to help the quality we already had, get over the line, and it's fallen on deaf ears every time. It's a gamble we're taking and the proof will be in the pudding, I'm nonchalant about it - which probably tells it's own story.
  20. Hurrah! An actual human being acting like a decent soul! On this message board too! Sir DeeCee of Birthday Drinks Land, I salute you! We have all been there (some of us have the MB bans to show for it) and it takes a decent human being to acknowledge an error and seek to correct it. Yours, Old Codger (a youthful 63, I tell you)
  21. Iโ€™m sure Siggy only had positive things to sayโ€ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ธ
  22. We've spent a lot of the last four seasons sat in the top six. Yes we've never got over the line but I attribute that more to the January sabotages, four different managers too across those seasons. Those players (and are they expensive?) have shown that they're good enough to spend long periods of time near the top of the league. At the end of last season I don't recall many people saying that they want to rip up the team, get rid of proven, good Championship players and replace them with unknowns - some of which will work and be decent signings, some won't.
  23. Amazing what one good win will do you can guarantee if we'd lost at Hull the mood would be entirely different despite the continued signings. I think personally when you see such a sudden wholesale change at a club overnight then something has drastically changed at the heart of it. You'd have to be from Mars if you didn't suspect some fresh involvement from some new string pullers in head office but to what ends we don't know. Maybe big Barry's son is taking the reigns, maybe the new Indian finance director, maybe Suhail finally getting full control ? Or as is most likely financial pressure to cash in whatever is possible and put back together a cheaper squad that has more potential for quick turnover, which brings me back to the new finance director. Who actually attended a game ! Then we look at Rudy etc and imo they knew they were going to set about a massive turnover this summer and they have brought in some form of Agency or Consultancy to oversee it all. I think he represents that on the surface and would explain why he appeared out of nowhere. He was never shadowing Waggot on work experience he was doing due diligence for wholesale cost cutting and implementing of a new model. Just my opinion of course but what we do know is the agents will be in clover at Ewood again.
  24. Apparently derby are leading the race for Diaz ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
