  2. I remember whe Shearer went to Newcastle and some lad at school turned up with a Newcastle shirt on. Instant loss of any credibility and was excluded from any football related activities (which at 8 years old was pretty much everything). In fact, I think he didn't even really follow football much after that. I remember when I was about 12 or 13 me and a Dingle lad at school absolutely ripping out this other lad who was a United "supporter" for not supporting his local team. I can tell you now that if anyone we'd have know had turned up in a Palace shirt then they'd never be allowed to forget it. That is the most tinpot thing I've ever heard of, and age is absolutely no excuse. If I'd have turned up with something like that on my back my old man wouldn't have let me in the house. I can understand why folk have an interest in following his career but why anyone would want a shitty nothing club like Palace to do well is beyond me. At the end of the day, Wharton left at the very first opportunity entirely for the benefit of his own career. If he wanted to stay he could have.
  3. At the end of the day, I like Hedges and I think he is good squad player for us, can play either wide position and experience which I think we need here. Ismael has said in the LT recently, he thinks there is more to come from Hedges. I don't think he is regular starter but I think starting some games and coming on in others I see as his role this coming season. I still think we need a new right winger and another attacking player who can play up front or wide left.
  4. Perhaps they did. But we'd only have evidence for this if they were picking him over other decent options. Which he wasn't, because we didn't. There definitely are. In fairness to a lot of them (maybe not Lowe!) second division footballers are usually those who can look fine if you play to their strengths, and can look almost semi-pro if you don't. We've had heaps of them at Rovers - our current Head of Football Operations being one! And it's not even as though I think Hedges is without his good points. But he's played well over 100 games now and his numbers have been just as poor in a range of systems, from playing on the counter to more possession based.
  5. Very strange appointment. Was shit at Norwich.
  6. Former Norwich City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup is set to take over as the next boss of Queens Park Rangers. QPR set to appoint former Norwich boss as their new manager after putting Marti Cifuentes on gardening leave following West Brom talks | Daily Mail Online Decent appointment and I thought he was harshly sacked by Norwich. Thought Norwich would give longer with him but they didn't. Norwich still haven't appoint his replacement. WBA and Hull City have vacancies for their head coach positions. Supposedly Ryan Mason is WBA's first choice and are waiting until after Spurs Europa Final before moving for him
  7. Wilcon's strike was great, Newell turn and finish(what a good player he was), Paul Gallagher's goal was sublime and great first touch, Santa Cruz goal and David Dunn goal.
  8. The former Rovers players scoring the goals in Brighton vs Liverpool. Elliott and Ayari with the goals.
  9. Or JDT, Eustace and Ismael really rated him alot more than others do on this forum
  10. Great post. Plus there are numerous players who have played a decent amount at this level, including for us (Lowe isnt the only one) who have done so whilst not necessarily warranting it.
  11. McFly - Where Did All The Guitars Go?
  12. back to all this standards bollocks, boring pal. So can fans make the wrong decisions.
  13. To be fair Chaddy, that would only tell us something if they were picking him over decent players. The reason why he has played so much has had far more to do with the him having no decent competition - not his fault admittedly - than him deserving the shirt through his own form. Hedges has aspects to his game which are fine. His attitude is good. He's is reasonably athletic and a decent size which is more than you can say for most of our other attackers, and that helps in and out of possession. Him being left footed can balance the team etc. But his attacking output is abysmal for an attacking player. Really poor. I don't hate the idea of keeping him as a squaddie, but there will have been players in his position with as many goal involvements in a single game last season as Hedges managed in 42. Not acceptable I'm afraid.
  14. Correct. I do wonder if Hedges was angling for a bit of a payrise, as we've been unable to agree terms on a new contract with him? Figured a new contract, on the same terms would have been a pretty straightforward new contract signing for both parties.
  15. Today
  16. Hatred? Dont be a child. I just am not keen on substandard players playing for the club. It comes down to standards. We have had years of cost cutting so we havent had much choice but to play him. Everyone has been calling for us to sign pacy wingers for ages and our constant inability to do that has made those calls a running joke. Plus managers can make wrong decisions. Jason Lowe must have been a good Championship midfielder considering how he kept getting picked.
  17. That doesnt really make sense. Any potential fee would have minimal anyway and you then risk him staying or having to subsidise his wage, if he even would have considered a new deal.
  18. 2 out of his 3 contributions for the season? Well done mate.
  19. hopefully the judge will have a hangover, be in a foul mood ,sentence them all to jail and have their assets liquidated๐Ÿ˜
  20. Buffalo Springfield - Expecting to Fly
  21. iv`e never seen a more lazy footballer in all my years watching the game,he literally has no assets whatsoever
  22. Your hatred for Hedges which I think is clear to see is baffling. 3 head coaches had mostly picked him as a regular which tell you alot and maybe they see what you can't or won't see was the pass to Ohashi to score the winner at Luton an easy one or the pass to Woodrow at Sunderland for Dolan's winner?
  23. what the issue with given Weimann a new deal? he is goal threat, can play a different attacking positions. another good squad player option
  24. To be fair, I was going to say the first goal against Watford, said at the time, Hedges did well there.
