Why would we want Brittain to stay then, and why does Ismael want him to stay? If he genuinely would be totally satisfied with just Alebiousu and Montgomery, then surely Brittain is unnecessary clutter? Obviously its not an exact science, just my opinion. I also think Ohashi is better than Gueye and will score more goals this season. The opposite might happen. I just personally think from what I have seen from McLoughlin that he is better than Batth. Thats not a criticism as Batth was brilliant last season. I think comparing defenders in particular with stats is flawed but this comparison certainly is as you are comparing a centre back with someone who played basically all of the season at left back.

I would happy with the McLoughlin signing. Experience, knowhow and knowledge of the Championship. Sensible signing for us. Still think we need a 5th option given that Wharton is just returning from long term injury and Carter's injury problem. Or we are signing players that Fit the requirements of Ismael in terms of how he wants to play and qualities he wants or Maybe Ismael rates both and they fit how he wants to play. Brittain is training and they has been no second bid from Boro so lets hope we can convince Brittain to stay and sign a new long term contract here
