There was a yellow weather warning which named Ewood area and Waterfall area in Blackburn. Didn't see mention of other local towns close to grounds. Throughout the day it rained with the heaviest after 4pm. Anyway its done now, decision has been made. No point appealing as the "appeal" situation is there to appease the EFL (so called) process. Blackburn Rovers 0 EFL 1 Gutted about this but I'll get over it.

We're 1-0 down on the last game of the season, we need a goal to stave off relegation. The game gets cancelled with 15 minutes to go because of freak weather. After a hearing, the EFL decide to award the opposition the 3 points. We are relegated. So we just sit there and say nothing?

I think this episode has shown that the EFL are woefully inadequate when it comes to their own rules and regulations. There should be a report soon that explains the thought process and rationale behind their decision.

thats a sobering thought,it does rain a lot up here,we could end up with fixture backlog and a pitch that looks like something up at pleasington😒

The way that I look at this, is what would we think if it was roles reversed? ie it was us who we were down to 10 men, with 15+ minutes to go, but only a goal behind. We'd be screaming blue murder for a full reply.

the club, unsurprisingly/disappointingly, hasn't made any comments about the reasons that the pitch was unable to drain off the excess water. Expect postponements if the weather turns chilly (due to a frozen pitch). Scummy indian owners.

putting aside the stupid decision,there must be something wrong with the pitch if it`s not draining,i know it was raining a lot but iv`e seen matches played in worse conditions and the ball hasn`t held up like that,the fact our pitch is on an incline makes it more surprising,it could`nt be down to our penny pinching owners and ceo could it😒,everyone else in the area managed to finish their game,which leans towards us looking a bit silly

Didn't expect anything other than this as it covers the EFL. Taken them almost 5 days to make a decision. As fans we have to get on with it at our expense while the football so called body rule that despite being 1 0 up playng against 10 men with 10 minutes left, you must play the full game again to see if Ispwich can win which will help them get back to the premiership.

Pretty sure if that happened we'd be considered to have forfeited the match rather than an abandonment 😅

Going forwards, I do hope they just make any game that is abandoned at any point be restarted as soon as is practicable, from the same minute, with the same score, with they same number of players on the pitch etc * as long as the game can impact the table in any way, if not then the result can just stand as it is when the game is abandoned

Well I think Mr Plod would have a word in that circumstance… It just seems very odd to keep that one detail from a match that’s otherwise deemed to never have happened.

I suspect it'll be other clubs at the end of the season who may take action. Imagine if Ipswich win the replay and pip someone to promotion by 2 points. We also very well could win the replayed game by more goals and stay up / make playoffs on goal difference. I don't see how that sustains the leagues integrity more than replaying from where it was stopped.

We’d also need Ipswich’s permission given the pricing plan we will have submitted to the EFL.

The issue we have at the moment is teams poorly replicating parts of a system used by the best team ever (2012 Barcelona). The first mistake they make is that Barcelona were able to play that way due to their personnel and over 20’yeara of honing their style. As an interesting aside, Barcelona scored over 70% of their goals through counter attacks which flys in the face of the notion they played around the back endlessly. In reality they won the ball back made a few combinations in midfield to draw the press and then created overloads. Secondly and a point of heard discussed a lot recently in podcasts and coaching articles is within football theory the aim is to simply score 1 more goal than the other team. The chances if Themis are highest when you are closest to their goal, the chances of conceding are when you’re closest to your goal so possession without intent means that at some stage you will lose the ball and risk conceding. Johan Cruyff said “always look the furthest pass and work your way backward”, he wanted forward passes as quickly as possible, we’re suffering a huge misrepresentation of the great man’s way of playing at the moment with the endless backward passing. Going forward is positive, sideways is neither good or bad, backwards is the opposite of the basics of football theory

And we can all be sure that once the rules change, the next time a game gets called off, Rovers will be 1-0 down, and he other team will be awarded the win
