Bazzanotsogreat Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Whats Salif diao doing Nicko, is he still on a free? He has been in talks with Stoke for about 2 months, they still hope to sign him as an unattached though. Hopefully you’re not advocating him moving to rovers

nicko Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Nicko can you shed any light on this? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...amp;ito=newsnow Every club is for sale if you think about it. Fulham would sell if the price was right, but that one just comes and goes all of the time. Keith Harris does like to get his name in the papers too. I'm a bit surprised the list does not mention Rovers, which we know about by now, Bolton - who Harris is trying to find a buyer for - and Sheffield United who are also looking. A strange story all in all. I think the Blackburn backgrounder in the Sunday People may be better. But I am biased.

Oh the ten minutes of excitement gone down the drain.
nicko Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Fulham top the list of at least half-a-dozen clubs which are in line to be taken over in the coming weeks. A £120 million offer from an unknown party is already on the table while another, definitely foreign, consortium is considering its options If you are asking me if I believe that [a] somebody has bid £120 million and there might be a bigger offer I would have to say I don't believe those figures. PS - Has anybody got the Chad v Congo score and details...that's why I am still trawling the net at this ungodly hour.

A little, huge wager?

Florida Rover Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Nicko I don't think you will get a result unitl tomoorw as the fixture list said this: GROUP 11 Playing on Sunday: In Cape Town: South Africa v Zambia In Ndjamena: Chad v Congo

awhom111 Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 The results are important for us because Congo not qualifying would be good us.
brfcshabba Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 PS - Has anybody got the Chad v Congo score and details...that's why I am still trawling the net at this ungodly hour. Not that it matters in terms of qualification as neither can now qualify but RESULT: Chad 1-1 Congo, Group ELEVEN
tchocky Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 You checking up on Mr Samba? Don't think that's the same Congo. Samba represents the Democratic Republic of Congo.
nicko Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Not that it matters in terms of qualification as neither can now qualify but RESULT: Chad 1-1 Congo, Group ELEVEN Thanks for that. Any idea where you would find the Congo team...there is a good reason that will be explained later. Sounds like they are not too bothered with the internet over there.

nicko Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 just been watching this tribute to jack walker that i came across on youtube: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=SP40fTQE37E&...ted&search= featuring an interview from a certain mr. nixon... Cheers for that - my ugly brother keeps getting me in trouble... The stories about the Lineker bid and the Kenny appointment are absolutely true. I was at The Sun at the time and had a stand-up row over Lineker. They knew who had told me it was right but still threw it away and only gave it part of the back page. As for the move for Kenny, I got my name taken off that one because I slaughtered one of the sports editors for not believing it. Left the paper a little while after. Happy days.
'arrod rover Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 thats really interesting...had no idea bout the linekar bid! makes you appreciate where we ar now all the more!
nicko Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 thats really interesting...had no idea bout the linekar bid! makes you appreciate where we ar now all the more! Lineker was the top boy at the time, England and Tottenham etc. Jack Walker said he would pay to buy him, but people only knew the Rovers 'management' as Donald Mackay and Bill Fox. Old Bill was one of the nicest guys I ever met in football and he confirmed my info that they had offered £2 million for Lineker which was a British record at the time. Spurs were totally skint but very pompous and rejected the offer. They thought it was a stunt. Jon Holmes, Lineker's puffed-up agent, even threatened to report the club to the Football League. Bill Fox was the man responsible for the 'Jack could have bought Tottenham line.' Just feel I should give him credit for that somehow. After that bid Rovers went in for Tony Cottee. In the end they got David Speedie, the only player who had the balls to take the gamble and join. Funny how it works out as he scored the goal that won the play-off final.
Ozz Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Newell got the winner in the play off final Al, Speedie got two in the Semi at home to Derby.
Wolverine Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 With hindsight, are you glad you left The Sun? I remember when I used to read it so many years ago. People can knock these so called mickey mouse a level subjects, but Media Studies at Blackburn College opened my eyes to The Suns 'journalism' techniques. Thanks for providing a thread worth reading again!
stuwilky Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Newell got the winner in the play off final Al, Speedie got two in the Semi at home to Derby. Speedie won the pen as well, in a horrific tackle
