1864roverite Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 According to the Mirror Roberts is frustrated at Rovers and could move to Sunderland for 3 million. Is this the same Roberts who said he was happy at the club last week ? I don't think Hughes will sell him for 3 million, who could he get in as a replacement for 3 million who is as good as Roberts ? Any more news on this story nicko ? Then again there wasnt much else to read in the mirror today, its a crap newspaper filled with a bit of a crap bit of reporting. Obviously Mr Nixon, money is tight at this time of the year, was the story worth much to you this week? I dont believe that Roberts would go to Sunderland, a team facing the drop so what would be the attraction ? There are other teams that could offer a better attraction to him if he was for sale. Sunderland are not an attractive option to any footballer wanting to play first team football, ask Mr Stokes he will tell you how bad it is up there when the local pubs ban the players from going into the bars in the hope they stave of relegation. its alright playing in front of 40000 mackems every other week, its another being beaten most of the time.

modes98 Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 From what I hear Brown thinks he can get £50,000-a-week somewhere. I only hope it is not at your club. Oh jesus i hope not. May as well just go all the way and get Bramble in.
gazsimm Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Benni was by far and away our best outfield player on sunday. Several times better than Roque who missed two good chances and really offered little. The midfield aren't creating chances, so I do feel sorry for anyone playing up front, but at least with Benni you'll know that he is almost certain to score a chance you create for him. If we're doing this on form rather than popularity then there is no way that yuo can drop Benni ahead of RSC at the moment. that was RSC 1st bad game for us on Sunday but his workrate was still there and if he had someone like roberts next to him who works just has hard as him (like we saw in the second half against newcastle) i think Santa would benift more Bennie needs a kick up the arse again, he thinks he is some kind of big hero now and needs bringing down a level, i am sick of him doing fancy flicks and him giving the ball away, then blaming someone else.

Thought you didn't read the Mirror? Or are you just getting into practice for next season?

stuwilky Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 there's only one decent paper for sport and thats the sun, all the rest are s--- Oh dear god, wont touch that rag with a bargepole after 1989.
LeftWinger Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Oh dear god, wont touch that rag with a bargepole after 1989. That and the Shearer joins United story
Eddie Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 that was RSC 1st bad game for us on Sunday but his workrate was still there and if he had someone like roberts next to him who works just has hard as him (like we saw in the second half against newcastle) i think Santa would benift more Bennie needs a kick up the arse again, he thinks he is some kind of big hero now and needs bringing down a level, i am sick of him doing fancy flicks and him giving the ball away, then blaming someone else. I actually think Benni is a player who seems to appreciate everything his teammates do. You'll usually see him give a thumbs up or a clap to any player who tries a pass, even if it doesn't come off. Obviously sometimes players make mistakes and he, like everyone else on the team, let them know that. As for that being RSC's first bad game, you're wrong there. He's the fan's favourite at the moment and while his link up play has remained good, he's looking less and less of a goal threat as each game passes. He's a good player, but strikers need to score and at the moment Benni and Roberts are probably the two most likely to do that. Benni has been working very hard ever since he got back into the team, the only thing that could possibly justify him being dropped would be the storming off at Newcastle, but no one is even sure what exactly happened there.
gazsimm Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 That and the Shearer joins United story i think every paper in the uk printed that though didn't they

When did benni score last anyway. I would now like to see hughes give RSC and Roberts ago up front and stop picking benni when he is quite simply not producing the goods. Do you really think Benni should of started against West Ham on Sunday instead of Roberts, after seeing how the game changed in the second half against the magpies
gazsimm Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Let me know the last Rovers story broken by that newspaper... calm down i was only saying what i think, have i upset you by saying that i read the sun pal
ffan Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 calm down i was only saying what i think, have i upset you by saying that i read the sun pal He was just making a very valid point.
nicko Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 calm down i was only saying what i think, have i upset you by saying that i read the sun pal Not at all. Just asking a question.
Flopsy Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 there's only one decent paper for sport and thats the sun, Well for those hard of thinking I suppose. Best Sports papers are the broadsheets - although I recognise the tabs are easier to read in a van. I like the Guardian Website - lots of different sports - interesting comments and does the best Over By Over (Cricket) and minute by minute (Football and Rugby) commentary of any website.

gazsimm Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Not at all. Just asking a question. i am glad i have not upset you, i am just saying what i think, other people might disagree, but who cares
gazsimm Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Yes, because Benni and Roberts have been our two best forwards over the past few weeks. [/quote) What has benni done to warrant his place in the team then. Me and many other fans who attend Ewood and away games are angry that Hughes keeps on selecting him from the start and not giving RSC and Roberts ago instead. When benni was dropped against Sunderland earlier on in the season, he was back to his best for a few games when he came back , he needs another kick up the arse again in my eyes.

I think that's harsh on Benni. Even though he didn't have his best game against West Ham - he did put the effort in. You can't ask for anymore than that.
Eddie Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 I personally feel he has been back to his best ever since then, you disagree and we obviously won't agree, so that is fine. Benni's movement and work-rate were very good the other night, whilst he was also the only player to find his man with passes and his touch and control were brilliant.
gazsimm Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 ok we all agree to disagree, but i just thought Roberts did enough against Newcastle to warrant a place in the 1st team and considering Benni was not at the races against Newcastle i thought he should of been the player who made way for him.
