philipl Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 According to SSN Everton are looking at Joaquin I thought he was at Darlington Enough joking, I believe Levy and Spuds are being as anally retentive over Huddlestone as Nicko said they would be.
Eddie Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Well that's probably because they are busy thinking up a name to put in the papers so that they can beat Everton in the battle of "biggest player linked with but not signed". They've held that title for at least 10 seasons running and the Carling Cup isn't a very good substitute.
Presty On Tour Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 i think roberts is 4th choice in the pecking order behind cruz, mCcarthy and derbyshire even though he has been playing regularly of late it's only due to injuries. If we were offered 4 million for roberts, I'm sure we would accept. Hughes got cruz for 3.5 million last summer and apparently we have funds to purchase new players so with an extra 4m on top of the kitty, we could do some damage in the market and improve the squad.
gazsimm Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I just hope Jason Roberts works on his shooting and ability to beat the keeper on 1-2-1's. Thats the lads only downfall. Also I feel he looks alot better against the weaker teams, against the top 4 he doesnt have that much of a threat to worry them, although he did well against United. Villa look like they may well need some serious re-building just to stand still. Mellberg gone, Carson wont be signed, and now Barry might be off. i agree Roberts downfall his is shooting but i would rather have him in the side along side Rocky then having that lazy sod benni. Rocky annd Roberts partnership looks like it's getting bettter and better by each game.
Mozzer Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 hasnt roberts been keeping mcarthy on the bench for over a month?? im sure mcarthy hasnt been injuried all that time..hes missed the last 2 games mcarthy... roberts deserves to be there-hes been patient, and him and santa cruz are linking up very well..
herbergeehh Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Enough joking, I believe Levy and Spuds are being as anally retentive over Huddlestone as Nicko said they would be. Is Huddlestone the right player for us, though? We've got Vogel now, I'm not convinced Huddlestone is the perfect partner for him. Then again, who knows what kind of pairing we need - maybe two passers of the ball is the right way to go? Neither of them will beat a man, storm in on the opposition's goal from midfield. Bradley's goal scoring record suggests he's someone who can..

A Bradley/Vogel pairing would be good IMO as it would allow Vogel to stay back allowing Bradley to make forward runs. Bradley has shown this season he has great power and can make those driving runs, plus his goalscoring hasn't been too shabby. Plus from what i've read his defensive game is pretty decent as well, more of a box to box midfielder. The question is can we get him, with numerous clubs sniffing around? We need to move fast if we want to stand a chance.
herbergeehh Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 On a side note, Tarik Elyonoussi (watched by Blackburn on a few occasions as reported earlier) is being linked with moves to Holland and Germany. The local paper says bids has been received. I'm glad to see us being linked with young players again, both Bradley and Huddlestone being in the early twenties. Let's hope we can bring one of them in, and like you I prefer Bradley (without really having any reason to do so)

Having Vogel and Huddlestone in the same team would leave us too deep in central midfield. If we can find an attacking midfielder to play alongside the more defensive Vogel it would add a real balance to our team, plus i reckon it would benefit our strikers, especially if we play a 4-4-2 as they would get support from midfield centrally.
nicko Posted May 6, 2008 Author Posted May 6, 2008 The latest news I have is that Everton do like him - but do not think he is worth £4 million. So it's there for Rovers if they fancy him...at that price. Heerenveen have missed out on the Champions League, so the time is right for the auction to start. Mind you, this may run a while yet.
Tom 1 Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Barry is replaceable....Don't think he'll go anyway. Mellberg wouldn't have got into the team next season, only plays cause we have no right back so in a way even though he's going to Juventus, he's beating the bench where he'd find himself next year. Carson...thank (Please don't use that word again) he's going, hes hopeless a lot of the time. Am happy to rebuild if that's all we're losing. Only one I care about is Barry. Soz to fill your site with Villa stuff lol.

they_think_its_all_rover Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Anyone showing an interest in Ramage & Carr after being released by Newcastle?
Grabbi Graeme Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Anyone showing an interest in Ramage & Carr after being released by Newcastle? Wouldn't be surprised if they ended up at one of the sides coming upto the Prem League.
allrovertheworld Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Anyone showing an interest in Ramage & Carr after being released by Newcastle? Ramage and Carr. Sounds like a BBC sitcom about two partners of an RTA claims company.
nicko Posted May 6, 2008 Author Posted May 6, 2008 Ramage and Carr. Sounds like a BBC sitcom about two partners of an RTA claims company. And their defence would be The Invisibles...
Tim Southampton Rover Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Hey Nicko, Any news on any possible takeovers at Southampton? inc. or not inc. a certain Mr Lowe?
1864roverite Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I dont think Gareth Barry is the link that Liverpool are looking for to bridge their hopes of reaching the top 3. Let them pay silly money for him, let them offer players such as crouch. It doesnt really matter as they are such an inconsistent outfit that the fat spanish waiter doesnt really know his best 11. Its funny how 42000 yelling scousers can see that they are more a potent threat with Crouch up front alongside Torres yet the waiter cant see past his goggles and his wisp goatee beard. Despite the liklihood of them spending in excess of £30million in the summer and ridding themselves of such disasters like Riise, Liverpool will only challenge for fourth spot. I am so desperate for them to keep Voronin and Kuyt as those two players typify their shortcomings despite the obvious skill and work ethic that Kuyt possesses.

thenodrog Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I think Kuyt is an excellent player. On what basis? Torres is an excellent player Kuyt is just a workhorse. Big heart and a good engine to use football parlance but little else. If he was English I think he'd be plying his trade for a club much lower down the league if not in the fizzy pop lot. When Lpool started against us at ewood with just him up front I was well suited.
