The BBC definitely changed that story. It went from stating that he HAD been appointed - to understands he will be appointed. Still keeps my hopes on Roberto alive a little longer! :)

If anyone can find an open market right now, Martinez might be back to a decent price. I was a bit slow off the mark and only got £20 at 16/1.

Right, I am going to go out even further on a limb here.

I have just spoken to a manager who was offered the job - not an interview - at Leeds last night. I won't name him for obvious reasons. He said no.

I also heard this morning about the short-list of four and the interview process.

So if Leeds have gone from that to appointing Gary Mc today - then I'm shocked. It doesn't fit with the timeline that these things have.

It sounds like they're after a very quick appointment - offering someone the job last night was incredibly fast.

I'd have thought they could have offered it to McAllister if they want someone that fast - he's unattached, ex-Leeds, no compensation etc etc.

But nor did the Keegan signing to be fair. As far was we understood it, they were interviewing and Bam he was named out of the blue.

I know that Keegan was interview on the morning of the day he got it so maybe Mac made the same impression Kev did at the Toon?

On a complete side-note Nicko, I know you know all about Rovers transfer targets etc... but I was wondering if you have heard who the new sponsorship deal will be with?

It seems AGES ago when the club said they were looking for a new sponsor that would compliment the rovers shirt...

?

I've seen 2 new Umbro templates.... one has a crazy speech bubble type shoulder/arm pattern... the other new template isn't a great deal different to this seasons... just has like a little flick off the end of the shoulder pattern.

Interesting, I know they have known since last Friday but that does seem very quick just to offer someone a job. Mind you it is Bates.

So Martinez is one of 4. *gets out fishing rod* Any comment on the other 3 ;)

swansea and martinez have a massive game tonight against 2nd place notts forest.

a win for swansea would be a huge step forward to the championship.

i'm sorry nicko, i just cant see martinez leaving for leeds united and anyway don't you need permission of their current club to speak to another team?

my money is on the former leeds favourites garry speed or mcallister :)

I've heard it will be an orange away shirt and it will complement the sponsors logo. May get some cheap flights out of it as well.

As Nicko said - they would be making an approach for him - presumably through his club.

As if he'd turn down Leeds to stay at Swansea!

It may just be the pull of the bigger club taking him away. It's much like Hughes and Newcastle.

You do need permission but that doesn't seem a problem thesedays. You just agree a compensation package and talk. :blink:
