Brownie Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Did someone say there was a table for scoops this summer???? Nicko, how come MH has gone from 5/2 to 5/1 on betfair to get the chelsea job and 4/5 to 1/2 to get the city job ? Something happened ?

cn_barlow Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 It should also add £5M to the price Utd would have to pay for Roque If Roque was to leave this summer id want at least the same for him as Bentley...£30m for both and i'd snap their hands off
gazsimm Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Good attacking football - though the defence worries me. Copple would do a good job for Rovers. Those on here who say they will stop supporting Rovers if certain managers are appointed at Rovers show that they are not supporters of Blackburn Rovers football club because they are putting personal opinion before the club etc. No not really, even if i didn't go and watch Blackburn because they appointed a manager who i disagree with, i will still have blackburn rovers in my heart. but i will not be wasting my money to watch crap football, i like to be entertained for the money i pay to go and watch Rovers, not fall a sleep.
Blue n White Rover Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Your first argument really negates the validity of your post. McClaren?? Mclaren is a good candidate. Before he took the england job he was a good manager at boro. Uefa Cup Final, League Cup winners, 7th place finish in 2004-05 season. Im not saying he's the best choice candidate but hes certainly a better choice than Paul Ince.
nicko Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Nicko, how come MH has gone from 5/2 to 5/1 on betfair to get the chelsea job and 4/5 to 1/2 to get the city job ? Something happened ? I have an unconfirmed report of a development in the last few hours...don't want to repeat it...but it would suggest Mark Hughes and Chelsea is very much on as we speak.
b12_simon Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 This, and the posts mentioning Gibson, reminded me of the guy who sent in his FM resumé to Boro and actually got a reply from Steve Gibson. Wasn't a generic reply either, but he played along with it. And no, it wasn't Southgate, it was some other guy with no experience. This one: a genuine classic!
gazsimm Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I have an unconfirmed report of a development in the last few hours...don't want to repeat it...but it would suggest Mark Hughes and Chelsea is very much on as we speak. i bet Bentley is hoping so!!!
Claytons Left Boot Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 nicko - any rumours re Henning Berg and do you think it could be a possibility? There are certainly parallels between him and Mark Hughes when Hughes took the Rovers job. I've no particular info by the way and there's nothing in the Norwegian press.
waggy Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 CLEVER guy our sparky, talks to citeh to rouse chelski.i think he has severed all ties at ewood, not many would welcome him back,as he is not 100% commited anymore to the club.he leaves with my thanks and hopefully he will give jw the name off his sucessor,as jim smith did with kendall
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Hughesy is favourite for City and Chelsea. No idea who is favourite for us. Probably still BFS.
Hughesy Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 If Hughes goes to Chelsea and they come calling for Bentley then id say £20m to them. Tottenham or Liverpool £15m - Chelsea £20m. If they want Roque - £20m again! Just look at his stats, his age and the amount of hassle he caused last season. Cruz is worth every penny. i bet Bentley is hoping so!!!
alexanders Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Henning Berg: "The linesman was flagging as it was National holiday!"
Brownie Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Not doubting Nicko but Hughes is drifting to 6.2 on Betfair ! Whats going on nicko ? Spill 'em !
Flopsy Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Oh Mr Gibson, I also think you're ace Im with Waggy, thanks Mark, I had my doubts and you proved me very wrong, something I'm not upset about at all, I wish you all the best in the future and hope you do well at Chelsea. If you go to Cieh, then you'll get nowt but scorn from me.
Guest fernhurstblue Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 hopefully he will go to chelski, less likely to come back for players ..... i much as i hate everything about man city, imo ughes has been badly advised and really ###### on them from a great height - not the man i thought he was.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Im with Waggy, thanks Mark, I had my doubts and you proved me very wrong, something I'm not upset about at all, I wish you all the best in the future and hope you do well at Chelsea. If you go to Cieh, then you'll get nowt but scorn from me. Pretty much my thoughts as well. Even though this whole saga and the way its been out has been an aboslute farce If he goes to Chelsea i will wish him all the best. If he goes to City thats the complete opposite.
philipl Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 As I posted this morning, you have got to hand it to Hughes for having the balls to use Citeh so blatantly.
nicko Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Not doubting Nicko but Hughes is drifting to 6.2 on Betfair ! Whats going on nicko ? Spill 'em ! It's quite possible someone has got wind of an approach to Ancelotti too...but I will be shocked if AC Milan allow that to happen. But, as I suggested a few minutes ago, I think Sparky's move might be moving on apace.
brfcjon Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 This one: a genuine classic! ACE! Shows that people have a sense of humor after all=) Anyway - you all seem to be very focussed on english based managers - besides Bilic. I would have thought someone like Eddie would perhaps suggest french options i.e. Perrin. Personally I feel that going for a continetal manager and having English based assistents is the way to go considering the fact we wil have to go shopping outside the UK due to English players being heavely overpriced. No one have mentioned Laudrup who was close to being named Valencia, Barca, Sevilla, Benfica and Panatinaikos manager. But even though Laudrup is my fave player ever I wouldnt want him as manager of Rovers. I was just wondering why no one has mentioned his or other great continental options.
Hughesy Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Has sparky actually held any talks with anyone yet? Or is he in talks today??
gazsimm Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Nicko is it true, when Hughes does eventually go to either Chelsea or City, then Blackburn will make an approach for Big Sam straight away
Ronin Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Have Rovers released a statement saying they've reluctantly allowed Hughes to speak to Chelsea yet?
Guest fernhurstblue Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I'm only suprised that nobody has set up a "NO TO BIG FAT SAM" group on facebook yet.
philipl Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Have Rovers released a statement saying they've reluctantly allowed Hughes to speak to Chelsea yet? The first announcement on that front will most likely be he is in talks or even that he has been appointed would be my guess.
