leon Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 dammit. I have a tenner on Big Phil, and a tenner on Sparky for Chelsea. Oh well, that's why it's called gambling I guess. What thuis has done is annouced to the world that MH is available as a manager. I wonder if he'd go abroad?

Tom 1 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 On SkySports says three bids for Ramsey, who's the third if it's Arsenal and United so far? Not those Liverpool ###### I hope.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Looks like Hughes's gamble to get Chelsea interested might not pay off and that Roman isn't listening to Kenyon and others. Which means he has no choice but to take the City job. My god he is in for a rude awakening when he goes to City.
1864roverite Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 How can Chelsea talk to Ancelotti's advisors if AC Milan have already said Ancelotti isn't leaving. advisors not bound by contractual means manager is. Contracts will not stop managers and advisors talking to each other and finding out whats on offer !
nicko Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Look, Sky are putting out a line about Chelsea talking to Ancelotti's advisers - that's why the betting blipped. Just remember some of the tosh Sky have been peddling on this for days. There ARE things moving - but just give it a few hours to settle down. PS - Spurs are the third club for Ramsey. I don't think they have agreed a fee though.
gbax Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 There is a fair bit to report, but because I think someone has been lifting stuff from here and pumping it out to other areas I will save it for later. Sorry to have to do this, but there have been key developments over the last few hours. I can't slit my throat on this professionally. All I would say to those who have been putting bets on is to sit where you are - the news I can pass on about 9 tonight will NOT influence this. In fact, some of the events may make more sense in a few hours. OK? [Well, frankly, it has to be]. You are such a tease! See you at 9!
Tom 1 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Thought it'd be them. Shame we didn't give it a go, though I guess chances were slim anyway.
hawaii501 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Okay so Hughes is playing Man City off against Chelsea. Chelsea are now in talks with Carlo Ancelotti. Mark Hughes was given permission to speak with Man City. Its now Tuesday and Hughes still hasn't met with Man City Chiefs. Man City have now set a deadline of tomorrow for Hughes to make his mind up. This is all according to Sky Sports News.
AJW Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 How mant posts in support of Maclaren is that AJW? And more to the point WHY? I'd wager most of the Reebok faithful would have allardyce back in a flash, but that the number of Boro fans that would want Maclaren back you could count on one hand. What is your agenda with Maclaren? His domestic record is better than allardyce 's and jewell, he's got more experience than ince , coppell wants to stay at reading and bilic ian even bigger gamble , mcclaren is out of work and i believe he has a point to prove , given the right backing we could benefit from that
Sandiway Blue Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 His domestic record is better than allardyce 's and jewell, he's got more experience than ince , coppell wants to stay at reading and bilic ian even bigger gamble , mcclaren is out of work and i believe he has a point to prove , given the right backing we could benefit from that There is a reason for that....
leon Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 His domestic record is better than allardyce 's and jewell, he's got more experience than ince , coppell wants to stay at reading and bilic ian even bigger gamble , mcclaren is out of work and i believe he has a point to prove , given the right backing we could benefit from that the trouble with McClown or BFS is that they are unlikely to take rovers any further than they took their old teams. They are limited managers who've already shown their extent. If we take a gamble on someone like Ince, at the beginning of their career, then who knows how far he could take Rovers? I suppose it could be up or down, but you know exactly what you're getting with McClown and BFS, and there's not many on hear who seem to be willing to settle for that.
sussexrover Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Okay so Hughes is playing Man City off against Chelsea. SSN are just plain confusing now. Hughes hasn't met with City yet, seemingly because they haven't actually agreed terms with Rovers in advance as per Rovers stipulation - yet they are expecting hi to make his mind up by tomorrow - without having met them???? EDIT: Sorry just noticed Den's comments above that compo was now agreed. It's too difficult to keep up with all this!
LeChuck Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 His domestic record is better than allardyce 's It certainly is not. In Allardyce's last four years they finished 8th, 6th, 8th, 7th. The final year they flirted with the Champion's League places for most of the season before losing steam at the end. Allardyce's record is tremendous, there aren't any other potential candidates that come near him. The only things going against him are his style of play, and that he apparently isn't very well liked.
nicko Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8...3645404,00.html This is relatively accurate. But you knew most of this about 10 this morning.
Backroom DE. Posted June 3, 2008 Backroom Posted June 3, 2008 Roman clearly is not keen on Hughes... if he was surely he would have gone for it? If it wasn;t for his advisors I'm not sure Roman would even consider Hughes, is that a good sign for Sparky should he get the job there?
Mc Love Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Since when's Ireland been in a different time zone? I know they were pretty slow when I was there 25 years ago but they've caught up massively with EU funding! Well when you work 8pm-8am sometimes.....you get to see things at their quietest.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Official confirmation compensation has been agreed http://www.rovers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/New...1323093,00.html
Guest fernhurstblue Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 This will put the ball back in Hughes court, and maybe force him to make a decision with BFS in the wings for the Man City ..... if Hughes delays waiting for Chelski, and Chelski delay waiting for somebody other than Hughes then he might be left in the situation were he gets neither job - then what do we do?????
broadsword Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 That's your lotti then, Hughes will have to go to City, he's painted himself into a proper corner there. Kick in the teeth for Rovers, and a likely blip on Hughes' CV ... I know it's childish, but I hope Shinawatra gets done and all his money dries up. Human rights abuser ...
Wild Irish Rover Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Chelsea agree deal with Ancelotti's advisors. Says who? Where? What? When? How?
Guest fernhurstblue Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Sky Sports website - for what it's worth.
LeChuck Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Says who? Where? What? When? How? It's on Sky Sports News, it'll probably appear on their website soon. It did say they agreed with deal with 'his advisors' though, and they did state Ancelotti wasn't present at those meetings...so I'm not sure how concrete any deal will be.
